To anyone who has a BX1500 w/ FEL - have you used this for digging the ground or does it only work for scooping piles of loose dirt, mulch, etc? I am concerned that the 15 hp and small tractor won't do all that I think it will do. I don't think I will be doing much digging with it, but want to make sure I get what I expect. What have you used it for?

They will dig into the ground very well for there size. I don't know what you might have to dig to worry about as they are a good aggressive tractor for there size. ....

You will run out of traction long before you run out of power with any sub-CUT, even the Kubota BX1500. The FEL hydraulic circuit will go into bypass mode (for self preservation) before the engine bogs down too seriously anyway. If you need to dig with the FEL, a tooth bar would certainly help. ....

I have a BX 2230 with an FEL and I can only say that it really digs well or much better than I expected. It is actually much better at digging out rocks than I expected. I have dug out rocks that are far to heavy to pick up, but I can push them. My guess is the 1500 should work about the same. ....

How deep do you want to dig? There is a limit to how deep it will go, if memory serves me 4".
I have a BX1500 and last year took off a 4' wide by 2' high by 20' long hump in my yard. The ground was very dry and packed but it worked fine. You just can't expect to dig in at the bottom. I had to scrape it off a little bit at a time until I had worked it down. It took me about 6 hours to do it.
Sometimes with the bucket loaded it gets a little bouncy, but I just slow down and quit driving so fast and the bounce goes away.:) ....

I just purchased a bx1500 a couple of weeks ago, and boy am I happy with it. Mind you I have a little over 7 acres about 2 grass and 5+ wooded and so far this thing has done everything and more than I expected. As for digging I've dug out several small banks with no problem. And mowing, no problem cutting through the foot plus high grass near the woods. ....
