I've been looking at the Kubota L3130 and L3830 and need some recommendations. I've got about 65 acres(some hilly and about 40% is open land) and need a tractor for bushogging, disking, boxblading, plowing (small chisel plow or middlebuster), occasional log pulling (firewood), and maybe some tilling later with a tiller attachement. Which tractor will serve me best and which transmission, HST or GST? Thanks for your feedback.

With 65 acres I'd suspect that the 3830 would be your best bet .Not that I have anything against the 3130 ( I own one )
But With that amount of land , I'm sure you'll be doing a lot more with it than I am on 4.5 acres . I don't plow or disk, so I believe that the advantage in power will offset the price difference .
As to trans type ..... That's a matter for more qualified people than I am to answer . John ....

Other than six more HP the L3830 doesn't seem to give you a whole lot more than the 3130. Weight is very similar and hydraulic output is the same. Same too are the FEL options. I'm sure you could feel the HP difference between the two but I also think you're looking at several thousand more dollars for the 3830. I'm very happy with my L3130 and so far have not wished for more HP. ....

The 30+ PTO-HP may allow you to use a larger bushog, rear blade, etc. Overall, the 3830 is a little bigger, a tad more ground clearance, larger tires, not quite as nimble. If you're going to do a lot of plowing you might want draft control, depending on your soil. I'd lean towards the 3830, but the 3130 is a fine tractor too(I have one).
I really like the HST, too many reasons to list, but there are gearheads who like to shift and love their GST's
So, ignoring cost, I'd choose the 3830HST.
Ask your dealer for a test drive on whatever models you are interested in, with 65A you'll be sitting in the seat a good many hours...
Good Luck,

You basically getting a larger capacity
fuel pump on the 3830
same tractor, more fuel to diesel engine = more hp ....

Benny,
The 3130 is 91.5 CI
The 3830 is 111.5 CI
So I would say there are differances other than just turning up the fuel. ....
