Help I m shredding mower drive belts

I have an MR 6000 mower deck mounted to a b7100 tractor. I just recently bought this tractor & mower. I went through 2 belts so far only mowing low hours. I thought I saw a message regarding this subject but am unable to find it now. If memory serves me correctly it stated that you need to add a spacer to the idler pully. I just took the deck off and did the clean up process. All of the pulleys spin free and have sufficient grease, except for the idler which has no fitting. This particular model has a flat bar that attaches to the idler pulley and the tension spring attaches to the bar also. The pulley rides on the flat bar and is suspended. If the post I saw before said to add a spacer to the idler the only place I could do this is under the area where the flat bar attaches to the deck. Any way I hope this is enough information for one of you experts to give me some help.
Thanks
Mike

I hope there's a response from somebody who knows the mower. You might try to find the manufacturer's web site. I had this sort of question about my Allied loader. I sent off an e-mail and got a response from an engineer who asked a couple questions and then sent a response along with technical drawings. In this kind of situation, I'd wonder if a part was missing or something re-assembled wrong.

The spacer idea sounds a bit doubtful. I guess the idea is to align the idler to the plane of the driven pulleys. I can't imagine that a mower would be designed that would break belts unless an extra part was added, and so I'd be thinking: 'Why now?' The sort of wear that requires shimming on some parts doesn't seem likely on something like a pulley spindle. In addition, my impression is that v-belts have fair tolerances to alignment problems. You might want to describe the breaks in the belts--frayed, cut etc. The type of break might say something about the reason for it breaking.

I take some care in adding fabricated parts to equipment. It would be pretty easy to make things worse rather than better.

If the pulleys idler to are all running in alignment and spin easily meaning ther bearings are good, and there is no rust on the pulleys it is a tough call unless wood has some type of an update for this deck. ?Have you checked the belt in between uses? They often will tell you if they are running sraight or not by looking at the edges of the belt. What pulley the belt is not on is either the culprit or the next one back when you remove the shields and look at it after it happens.

I had a Ford garden tractor/mower and tried to save a few dollars by buying a replacement belt at the local auto parts store. It lasted a few hours. Went back to Ford OEM belt which lasted several seasons. If you haven't tried it, get a belt from your Kubota dealer and see if it doens't solve your problem.

Help I m shredding mower drive belts

I decided to take the left and right pulleys off, looks like I am going to need a new one. One is in good shape the other one is quite worn and bent. This in conjunction with the center pulley being a little loose may be the cause. I used an OEM belt the last time. Does anyone know where I could find a decent used pulley? I hate to put a new pulley on with the used ones. Plus the price of a pulley new is $70. Thanks for all of the replies.
Mike
