L2900GST 4x4 will not go into reverse

I have a L2900GST that will go forward but cannot pull the column lever to reverse. Followed linkage to top of transmission no obstructions. Anyone have this problem?

I've not heard of the problem but my first attempt would be to pick a spot and disconnect the linkage and check for lever movement on both sides of where you heave dissconnected the linkage. ....
