I'm buying my first tractor and what a hard choice. I've narrowed it down to the Kubota L 3400 and the Kioti CK-30, both are HST. I'm a contractor and want a unit to have on the site for fine grading, lot clearing, and hauling items around the job. I may add a backhoe in the future. The price is identical on both units and both dealers are local and first class. I'm buying with a loader and box scraper. Any feed-back on choices would be appreciated. Also, will a 18 foot dually trailer with 3500# axles work and will heavy half ton pickup for towing around town?

Truck and trailer are a stop gap measure only. They are both too light. 10K trailer and 3/4 ton would be MINIMUM for this equipment.

As for which tractor, the CK 30 or L-3400. I'd have to call it a tie.
Only way to break this tie is to try out the 2 machines for yourself..

If both tractors are the same price, you better be getting a lot more tractor with the Kioti. Not that they are a bad tractor, but they just can't command the A list price yet and resale will suffer in the long run. Think of it like toyota and Hyundai. I don't know much about Hyundai but they seem ok but they cost less and retail will be lower on a percentage basis.

Nice postion to be in. The Kioti has a few more creature features than the L series Kubotas. Probably a more comfortable feel all around. The Kubota will be as reliable as any machine you can buy. For resale, the Kubota is probably a better bet at this point, but that could change as the CK series gets more popular.

You are comparing the economy Kubota model with the most recently refined Kioti. The Grand L-30 Kubota is probably a more comparable machine for features and refinement, but at a higher price. If traiering and transporting is an issue, weight could be important. The Kubota tends to be a little lighter.

Test them both out. If both dealers are reputable, go with the tractor that is the most comfortable. Sounds like you'll be spending a lot of time on it. You may also want to consider the cost of the backhoe for each machine if you are serious about adding it later.

Usually with all things being equal, there is something that pushes you one way or the other. Not sure, but I think the Kioti is a 3 cylinder engine, the Kubota is four.

3-cylinder has higher torque at lower rpms, 4-cylinder will run smoother. Check out the performance curves on both engines. Also look at the net pto horsepower for both machines. There will be differences.

If all else fails, ask the wife. They always know what to do.

tractor buy by fri

I will first of all admit that I have never used a
Kiota. I own 3 kubotas right now. In my nearly 40
years of owning and or using tractors, I have never
seen anything close to the Kubota reliability.
HST is incredible!!!! You will wonder why you
ever used anything else. I have used a fel, backblade,
fertilizer spreader,Howse brushhog,62 inch front snow
blower,a disc,a quack digger,drags, pulled a dump trailer
filled with gravel etc.etc.
Your trailer weight will be close, but if you have good
tires on the trailer and put air helper springs on your
rear leaf springs, it should work. I pull an 18000
weight limit tri-axel with my F-150 1993 4x4. I only
go up to the limit of my bulldozer though-9500lbs.
I dont really understand the use of a boxblade. I can
do anything this boxblade can do with my fel and a
regular backblade with sides and more. That is my
opinion though.
