 B7100 HSD 2WD

I am looking at what I think is an older model B7100 2wd. The paint is faded but the engine looks clean. The 3pt is missing the arms. I can get a 60" deck front loader and front mount unit for a plow. All of the attachments appear to be in workable order but are in need of some cleaning and paint. The dealer told me it was a 22hp 3 cylinder engine. I am very new to the compact tractor scene so ant guidence would be appreciated. By the way I would like to have a small compact tractor for mowing, tilling, and at some point use a front loader. Is the 2wd the wrong tractor for the front loader attachment?
Thanks for any guidence
Mike

In the northeast I would not order a new 2 wheel drive in unless it was sold and paid for in advance. I would also worry over the costs of the three point hitch arms. I would consider those a must with a loader as you will need more ballast on the rear to work a loader than with a four wheel drive.

just my opinion, but....if this is your first tractor and u are fairly inexperienced with use/repair of such, u should probably stay away from this one...it appears to need parts and repairs..there is nothing worse than getting prepared to use the tractor all day, taking off work or whatever, and then having a tractor that aint working...the price may be right, but personally i'd steer clear of it and look for a better deal...

I said the only missing part is the 3pt. hitch arms. I gave the tractor a good look today. Everything worked well and the engine is very clean, after the initial blow of smoke from starting it ran very clean as well. I do not know how good the implements work but the seller will have to assure me they will work. If I am not mistaken this is an early year unit 1979 or 1981. I do have some mechanical ability and als ohave a friend that knows alot about the compacts. The front loader is a quick connect type. Thank you for the advise, but it looks like I may make the guy an offer of $1600 for everything. If he is at least willing to meet me half way I think I got a good deal.
Thanks
Mike

I'd figure $3 - 4 K for a loader and I'd check the cost of new 3ph arms from a dealer. Any light-weight 2wd tractor is going to have some traction limitations. It probably also doesn't have power steering so the steering will be hard with a loader mounted. Maybe somebody can comment on how much traction a tiller requires. There is a possibility that a 2wd model couldn't pull one as wide as the tire tracks. A narrower tiller that would require use of offset might work. I think there are forward and backward rotating tillers, and perhaps a forward rotating one would reduce traction requirements. Still, at $1,600 it may be a good deal provided the limitations are acceptable.
