What is a good price for a used Kubota? I am looking to spend about $5,000 to $8,500 so what can I get? I would like a small loader, diesel, turf tires, and a mower? Any comments? Should a look at other kinds (ie. JD, MF, NH etc). I live in the North East so that is where I stand. Thank Mike

Mike, I'm partial to Kubotas, but if I were you looking for a used tractor, I sure wouldn't overlook the other brands; at least not the John Deere and New Holland. They all make good tractors. As for answering the rest of your question, that's pretty tough without knowing what work you want to do with it, and how much time you have to spend on those jobs. Naturally, there are a few things that require a larger sized tractor, but generally speaking a small tractor can do most things the big ones can do, it'll just take longer. And the older the tractor and the higher the hours, etc. the bigger one you can get for the same money. I have a neighbor who gave $7k for an 85hp tractor a few years ago, but of course, it had over 5k hours on it and was over 20 years old. But I'd say you should be able to find a pretty good used, reasonably late model, under 25hp tractor for the money you want to spend. ....

Mike that could take a long time to answer that, I would suggest looking at what you want to do and then picking a potential size or model and then proceed with your looking for the tractor that might be in your price range. ....

Mike, I used to have a 1995 B7100 and now have a 1999 B2710. I think all the B series are good tractors, but it just depends on what features you want. Besides size, weight, and horsepower, you have to consider how important features such as position control on the 3-point, power steering, HST vs. geared transmission, 2 vs 3 range HST if you go that way, lift capacity of the 3-point, lift capacity of the front loader, what instruments you want on the instrument panel, etc. I paid $10,850 for the 1995 B7100 w/loader new and the dealer gave me $8,000 for it a year ago last August with nearly 500 hours on it. Mower was not included. Hope this helps a little, and good luck with your shopping. ....
