I have a new John Deere 4300 hydro with a 420 loader. Occasionally, with the 3 point hitch raised, I hear the hydraulic system cycle (sounds like when you raise the hitch, but the hitch is already raised) and the hitch moves slightly. Does anyone know what's going on here?

I had a similar problem with my 4300. With the 3pt half way up, it would raise a little and then drop back - a similar cycling to what you described. My fluid was a little low and I also had a loose connection on the loader hydraulics. I took care of both and have not had the problem again. Not sure if the other problems were related or not. ....

I'm not much help, but had the exact same problem on my collarshift 4300. It cycled for a day, then mysteriously quit after I called the dealer to come get it (fluid level wasn't low either). It's these little things that are starting to make me second guess my purchase. ....

Ronnie, I have the same problem with my 4400, but only when the system is idling, and the implement (bush hog, in this case) is raised. the weight of the bush hog is about 300 pds. I can't find a leak, and the fluid level looks okay. The dealer said the factory rep told him JD built in a safety on the new models, so this will happen. If you find a "fix", (or anyone else does) please say so on this post. Thanks, Jack ....

I have not noticed this problem on my 4400, but I do remember this happening on the fram tractors. It is caused by a small internal leak. With the 3 pt. controls seup to automatically keep the 3 pt. at the set heigth, when the hitch settles a small amount it raises it back up to the lever setting.

I also have a 4300 with a 420 FEL, I've been experiencing the same hydraulic cycling noise and my front end loader will not maintain position if I let loose of the joystick. Looks like the fluid levels are fine..........help?? ....
