I stopped at the local NewHolland dealer on Saturday to chat about the new larger Boomer tractors. I am impressed. These new tractors offer features that Deere doesn't come close to matching yet. If I didn't have a new 4600 on order I would be close to a deal on the TC40D. The two range hydro with the powershift looks like an impressive transmission. Deere does have the advantage in a higher transport speed but on balance the NewHolland would be more productive. The operator controls are better and the three point hitch with the telescoping draft links and the easier to adjust sway bars are far superior to what Deere has. The 84" midmount rear discharge mower is just what the commerical operators need. The new loader looks quite impressive although I don't know if it attaches and detaches as nicely as the Deere.I've owned Deere products since 1983 and have generally been pleased with their products. I like my 445 for my lawn work and other chores around the house. My 4300 is a competent tractor but the tire scuffing problem is a real negative factor. The 4600 I have on order is also a competent tractor and when the scuffing problem is resolved I may be less negative. However, Deere must pay mor attention to some of the creature comfort features that are important to those of us willing to spend $25,000 for a tractor. If they don't keep up, Newholland will own this class of tractor

Terry, I spent close to three years looking (ok,ok, getting permission). I wanted a JD but ended up w/a NH. They, in my mind, offered more for the $$$.

I've been in the market for a 40 +/- HP tractor and have done extensive research. I prefer the JD4500 over a Kubota 3710; however, I've been waiting for the larger Boomers to arrive before I make a decision. I finally had the pleasure of driving the NH TC40 and TC40D. I really like this new tractor design. The NH prices beat the JD and Kubota prices. However, after a lot of thought, I've decided to go with the JD4500. Why, because of the PowerReverser transmission. NH doesn't offer this. Also because it looks like a solid tractor top to bottom. All of the improvements in the 4000 series appeal to the consumer; larger fluid capacities, easier maintenance checks, heavier than the Kubota's, and it drives real well.

I believe that NH has a great new design. If I were in the market for a hydro, I'd buy the TC40D. It offers the high-low range, which is nice. It doesn't have as much top end speed as a JD4600 HST and isn't as smooth. But, for $3,700.00 less than the JD 4600 HST, I could definitely live with it, if I wanted a Hydro.

I'm waiting to order the JD4500 until the new front axles hit the production line. I'm told they'll begin in mid-April.
