This won't help you, but when I was an automotive technical writer writing repair manuals, engineers were required to review and approve the info such as torque specs. We had a feeling they weren't reading the manuals especially torque specs. So in order to prove it to our bosses we started putting specs in like "Tighten until breaks then back off a half turn". We made our point when it came back approved. ....
