PTO for 6X4 Gator

Whilst the 6X4 is a very useful piece of kit, some kind of PTO could extend its capabilities, for example to run a firewood saw, post hole borer, etc. It seems to me that it could be possible to put a pulley on the flywheel and belt-drive a hydraulic pump. From there it should by just a matter of setting up the appropriate hoses, valves, etc.
Has anybody here gone down this path? Is it practicable?
