I'm considering buying a new Cub Cadet model 7000, which is 20 gross HP and 17.5 PTO HP. The dealer says it's the smallest tractor they make that will handle a 6' finish mower (pull behind). He says it will handle it under normal conditions, but if the grass gets too tall or is wet it will have problems with a 6' mower. Does anyone have any first hand experience with using a Cub Cadet model 7000 to run a 6' finish mower? If so, what gear can you mow in and how tall can the grass be before it can't handle it?

In short I have a 7194 20hp with a 6' belly deck. I use my tractor and deck and have used it to knock down grass as high as the front of the tractor, of course I had to go over it again to finish but the equipment did it. in one low part of my land water will set for a day after a heavy rain I have mowed trough the water and the only time my tractor stalled was when the water got as high as the bottom of the deck. most the time though I can mow my lawn about ankel high with my tractor in low range 3rd gear 2000 rpm and mid to late summer high range 1st gear. I could go faster but the land is to rough and I like to be comfortable. I do urge you to get the rear mount instead of the belly mount, it is much easyer to maintain (sharpen blades, do this often for good results lube and just changing). Treat your gear box like a son it will be the most expensive thing on your deck, mine weighed in at $551.00 when I burt it up.be good have fun keep asking questions uthers ave made lots of mistake you can lern from.
