What are the symptoms of a bad starter on these tractors, do they just get weaker over time or just quit usually? new battery, clean posts and connectors, clean ground switch, 24hrs of block heat, it just doesnt crank like it used too, even with decompression. Also, whats the story on standard vs. the geared starters that are available?
Thanks, and merry Christmas to all!!

If you are sure that all connections are clean you should take the starter apart. check all connections and brush springs inside.its a half hour job.i would suggest to put a additional wire from - on mass switch directly to screw on starter. By the way do you know that 'appropriate' battery for this tractor is 150 Ah!
If there is e problem only in cold weather than you should start the engine in this way:
decompressor + let it turn until oil pressure rises to 2.5 or 3 bar. then heat the intake manifold for 30 or 45 seconds by turning key clockwise for 45 degrees(lamp on control panel is indicating that heater is on).than crank it. Good luck! ....

I've put mix of oil and grease. It really doesn't matter as long there is some kind of lubricant. Where does it leak? on the bottom at that round cap inserted from inside or at the side where shaft goes out? ....
