I did a little internet surfing, Ya know cabin fever and all. I didn't find any for sale, but I did find a article that discussed the pony and the fact that in the early 50's they cost $900 New. It still amazes me that when you buy something it will depreicate over time up to a point and then it start to regain its value again the older it gets. I know the dollar is not the same value, but still.
It sounds like a pretty good deal for a toy to play with in the yard.

I did not get the quick attach on my FEL, For one, the dealer never offered and two, I didn't think of it till later, But to be honest, the only other FE attachment I may ever use is a bale spear ( Although I doubt it, I think I would use 3pt on my smaller tractor ) I looked at and asked about the whole FEL assembly and saw how easy that was to drop the whole FEL for when I am mowing or concerned with manuvering, so for me it just was not worth it, I may live to regret it someday, but for now I just don't forsee ANY use in my future.

I wonder sometimes if it comes down to what day of the week and at what plant the engine or garden tractor was made. 7 Years ago I purchased an MTD Yardman 15.5 Horse 42" deck with 4 wheel steering ( Pretty cool actually, When you turn the front wheels go one way the rear wheels the other. ) Have used it for mowing, Aerating, dethaching and other yard issues all summer long for the last 7 years, Only changed the oil twice and other then putting gas into it, I have done a thing maitenance wise to it. She run like a champ. The only times I have had an issue is when I didn't put it in the shed at night and we ended getting a rain shower and then she sat for a day or two. Was a little slow to start. But even then just had the turn the key twice instead of once. I think for every good comment about a piece of equipment you are going to find bad ones as well, Whether it be a manufacutre defect, a bad model year or just mis-use

I agree with AC5ZO, but also the creature comforts of each. Think about what you are going to be using the tractor for and where controls are. I have not looked at the L series, but the NH for me had the seat that elevated as it went back giving more leg room, Had a swivel and Lock seat 1- and 20 Degree angles ( Sure is more comfortable when doing back implement work ) I liked the FEL control location. They are little things, but when thinking about use over the next oh say 20 years, I wanted to be comfortable too.

Taxes taxes taxes and then loop holes. Here in WV you can get a farmers tax break on purchases such as equipment and feed and vehicles ( Farm Use ), But you mush receive a Farm Tax exempt ID # and in order to receive your #, pending on the acres you must make so much $$ per year. For example if you own 5 acres and grow a garden, if you sell $1000 per year of your crop you are eligible for Farm Exempt. But then again there is a catch. I get the tax breaks on feed and equipment, but my Homeowners insurance goes up quite a bit, Liability.... Farms are considered a dangerous place. Ya know, ground hog holes and snakes could injure someone visiting your farm ;-)

Shortmagnum. I do realize I had the numbers a little high ( just to make the Point) I do Regular scouting and have motion camera's all around the two farms I hunt. Although Sometime I think that that ratio is not that far off. In late fall, before most bucks shed, it is not uncommon to see a herd of 30+ does out in the fields grazing. You may see one or two bucks.
Brokenarrow> The one farm I hunt is a hay farm w/ some acreage for beef cattle. The farmer is deer addicated and like Rgauthier said He remembers the days when you were lucky to see a doe out in the field all summer. He loves to see deer and does plant turnips right near his back door so he can look out and see them. He even goes so far as to plow trails through the snow all over in hay fields to make it easier for the deer to get around. Even with the turnips. Alfala and soybean are the two number one feeds around here. Alfala is a high energy,highly palatable feed for deer around here and when there is a 30-40 acre field of it that is mixed with timothy and brom. The deer just roam. Yes they will come to feed plots, but not like a magnet. They will graze there way there over time and not consistently. Deer around me are just spoiled.

My 2 cents on the red or blue deal is this. I too thought about red, as they essentially are the same. So it came down to price and the dealer. My decision came down to the dealer for two reasons. One the red dealer was not good at getting back to me by phone and two the red dealer what about an hour away. There are two blue dealers with in 30 minutes and one although not as helpful as I would have hoped was still the best.

Brokenarrow, I don't have a Disc myself. land size is just to small to justify. I do however have access. I live by the world of bartering. And with quite a few small farmers 200+ acres and smaller farms around my area, they can always use an extra set of hands for something, So I volunteer when ever I can for issues like bringing in Hay, Cattle, Horses. Kinda ironic I work behind a PC all day and am a IT By trade, but do anything to be outdoors.
Anyway. with smaller rocks you should not have to big an issue, most times the soil as loosened will allow them to just shift out of the way as the disc comes through. You will inevitably come across some that, well just won't and can ding up a disc, but as with anything in farming there really isn't a way around some things.
I think you already got a pretty good idea on a box blade. I know alot of this is really exciting and sometimes overwhelming on the number of attachments. As Kubotaguy says I get the TIm Allen Syndrom sometime. I think we all do. I would honestly recommend you look at a Bucket and you have the disc already. Then Once you have the tractor look at renting a box blade or other attachment you may be interested in and see if it does what you want or need and will be used enough to justify the purchase. Also talk to some of the farmers in your area and ask they about there uses.

But my question is, why if I feel strongly for a member of a party do I have to be a member of that party to support them. I vote based on the issues and the person, not on the party. This way I can not support someone to run who I feel would be good if I don't register under that party. Basically saying I have to choose the party before I know who the canidates are that running.

Real life experiences Huh? Well I Have not had my TC33 That long and when I first starting talking about getting a cut, my neighbor ( a life long beef cattle farmer ) tells me that once you have the tractor you will find uses you never thought of. Yeah right I thought. Well once again, me wrong, farmer right. Really need to learn to listen to my elders more, espically since I not farm from being one myself :-) I have to go with KWSchumm here. Get the loader. It does everything and more. I have even used the loader as an extra set of hands to hlod a post while I poured concrete and set up to brace it. Just set the post in the hole and gently laid the bucket on top then moved it around alittle till it was square. When you go to talk with dealer ask them for the cost of a loader purchased later and then ask them what kinda break they would give you if you got it when you purchased the tractor. It would have to be my number choice for an attachment.

Being the military I had the pleasure of Being stationed in Attu, AK. Where is that you ask. It is the last Island in the Aluetian Chain. Closer to Russia then mainland Alaska. While there one of my duties was to take weather readings daily. Ironcially in the year I was there the coldest it ever got was 19 degrees.( Then again the warmest it ever got was 58. But, Last weekend I got up and the thermometer reader -8. Come on Spring!!!!
