Good thought Mark. And Brokenarrow has never exactly said what it is he's hauling. Will it be 1500 lbs of old donuts or what? This information is important and we'll need to know cause a half ton of donuts will surely weigh more than a half ton of bread.

Yes, there was a time when having additional heat resistance was probably good for air cooled engines. With liquid cooling in most everything now (sorry Harley) they operate in the same temperature range as auto engines.

I used Honda oil in my new bike the first couple of changes. Then I switched to Mobil 1. Everything seems to work more smoothly with the synthetic.

Denis, It's been about 20 years since I was in a similar situation. Even after that amount of time it still hurts when the memories come back. The only advice I can give you is to be as civil to your ex as possible when the child is around. They don't ask to be mixed up in adult issues and of course don't deserve to be in the middle of it either (as I'm sure you know).

Take one day at a time and hold on tight to the things that are solid in your life. You can get the toys and possessions some other time if you still want them.

I've only noticed this when the bar is loose before tightening the two nuts. I doubt that you can put enough pressure on the bar during cutting to bend it enough to notice a slacking of the chain.

I've worn out many chains and the teeth always wear out before it stretches to the point of needing to remove a tooth. But I never over tighten my chain either. I stop just when the adjustment brings the chain into contact with the bottom of the bar and then stop. MANY people get it tight like a guitar string which only stretches it too quickly which wears out the bearings in the front idler sprocket and clutch.

You're suggestion is a good one. What you're thinking of is a more permanent building. At a minimum I will price the materials out. I'm sure I would like it better in the long run.

I think they were a British import? I have to agree with Yooper. Unless you want one for collectibility I would spend the $10K on something that will be easier to repair. At one time parts were supposedly available from one of the more familiar companies but I don't remember which one.<br>

No Murf, In terms of making an income, I'll stick to what I do best. I didn't think it would be a new idea. I was just looking for conversation. Besides, if it was a "great new idea," my posting it here would probably make it public domain. Or worse yet, make it Dennis' intellectual property. :)<br>

There is a big difference in weight between the two. B7800: 1740 lbs, L3400: 2600 lbs (cast iron vs. aluminum) If you need the pulling power, go for the L3400. If you need a lighter machine that won't tear up the yard as much, go for the B7800.

My story about washing with gasoline was just that, a story, and not intended to be advice. Maybe I should have been clearer on that.

A half century ago many things were common that would be considered harmful now. The government stationed troops downwind and close to A-bomb tests. Shoe stores had x-ray machines to exactly measure size. More people smoked than didn't. I could go on, but you should get the point.

I don't have a mower on my Kubota so I don't know how much clearance they allow. Or if one brand allows more than another. I'm sure others who have them or one of the vendors who frequent the site will come online to give their opinions soon.

My L3130 has a seat override switch under the seat. You have to flip the seat forward to actuate it. It's purposefully designed to be a PIA so you can't easily get off the tractor with PTO implements running. I use it when I'm running my BH with PTO pump.

Between the plowing and towing you've described this might be your best option. I would sit down and figure out the relative costs of all your options and that will make your decision easier. If you go with the above, and you're considering a used Jap car, I would consider a used domestic. Used Honda's and such are really expensive and an Accord or equivelent will not get that much better mileage than say a Buick century or similar domestic (if you can stand to drive it). And the domestics will be about half the cost of a used Jap car with the same mileage and initial price.

I'm considering the small good mileage car too so I've thought alot about this. IMHO what it comes down to is if you're buying new and you want one, a Honda or equivelent is a good deal. If you're thinking used, get a chevy.

I now have an 8' header and taller door on one side of my garage. I just used the big hole left by the ROPS to judge the height I needed. :)

If there is any way to make your opening taller I would suggest you do it. Sooner or later you'll drive your unfolded ROPS into it again.

You can certainly do it. You can still run your splitter valve on while leaving the curl circuit open. The problem I see is that the cycle rate of the splitter will be pretty slow compared to a self powered splitter with 2-stage pump. That's with or without power beyond. Without load they pump at well over 10 GPM and then shift down to a high pressure mode under load. Your tractor hydraulics might not be more than about 5 GPM (I don't know the exact number for your tractor). If you've got plenty of time it should work fine.<br>
