The PTO of your 3130 runs totally independent of the drive clutch. As I'm sure you know, all it takes is a flip of the cute little lever on the right side to engage the PTO clutch. Clutch in or clutch out the PTO is still running if you've got it engaged. Like everyone else said, you don't need an overun clutch.

Here's another reason to keep 1/4 tank or more in your vehicle. And I'm assuming diesels have the pump in the tank like gas vehicles. I've been told that fuel in the tank helps to keep the fuel pump cooled as it's constantly maintaining pressure in the system. Running your vehicle near empty means the fuel pump is out of it's cooling bath and thus wears out faster. If you've ever changed a modern fuel pump they are really pricey, without even including the labor.

Dennis, I would be concerned about the hydraulic flow you would have from your kubota with a three pt splitter. The two stage pump on the self contained splitter will cycle much faster than the 3pt model will. It looks like the specs for your 7610 are 7 gal/min but that might include the power steering pump as well.

I haven't had a civic since '84 but as a mileage example our 2003 4 cyl Accord got 32 mpg on a recent trip to Florida doing 80 mph with the air cond on. The new civics have the same HP as our Accord (160) so they must really fly. If you want more, try an SI model. They put out 200 hp and rev to 8500 RPM! :) I joke with the young guys at work that I'm going to buy one and turn it into a "tuner." They just laugh and tell me I'm in the "wrong demographic."<br>

The road noise in a Honda is noticeable but seems to be very dependent on tire tread. We just put new Bridgestones on because of the better winter tread and they are quite noisy compared to the factory Michelins.<br>

I think most Dodge owner buy the diesel BECAUSE of the Cummins engine. Maybe they are looking at a 1/2 ton to put the Daimler into. That would make sense especially if Ford is planning one. With the diesel experience Daimler and Isuzu have, there is no excuse for Dodge or Chevy/GMC to not have a smaller diesel pickup.

WW, You don't need to apply calculus to make a counterweight judgement. If you put a 1000 lb load on the FEL bucket and the bucket is 10 feet ahead of the center of gravity then you need the same amount of weight 10 feet behind the initial COG to bring it back to the original position.

Better tell that to the thousands of houses who have a 275 gal basement fuel oil tank.

The oil furnace in my place up north went out this winter so I'll be taking oil heat out completely. I still have over 100 gals in the tank and I figured I would use Murf's trick of putting five pounds or so of air pressure in the tank and lifting it out that way. I might just fill my Kubota from the basement. I'd have about a years worth of fuel then.

As Chief said, taking the FEL off will lower the center of gravity quite a bit. Also, your tractor will have much better manueverability without the bucket hanging out in front. Like Murf, I leave mine on but I don't do any finish mowing. I can use the FEL to mash the brush down in front as I drive over it. The rear mower then cuts it flat.

Most splitter pumps are two stage pumps. The large GPM ratings are for a no-load or low-load condition such as cycling the ram back to load another chunk of wood. Under load they pump much less volume but at much higher pressures. <br>

Northern tool has good information (link below for 16 GPM pump). It requires at least an 8-horse motor. Your 4x24 ram's volume is about 1.3 gallons so with no load it should cycle through both directions in about 10 seconds.<br>

Randy (or anyone else who has one),
I would like to get a different ATV for running around the farm and woods. My Honda 185 three-wheeler is really a little tractor, but it's 24 years old and there are safety issues. How is the Recon 250 sized for an adult male? I would rather have a smaller engine like the 250 and thus less weight. A bit smaller is better for me, as long as it's not too small.

One of the guys I usually smoke with has a son-in-law who made a smoker out of a fridge. Our nickname for him is the knucklehead. People have been modifying refridgerators for years with good results. But the knucklehead's happened to have a tarlike coating inside. During his first attempt at smoking baloney the tar started oozing out with the heat. Now whenever we try anything he's smoked we say, "tastes a little bit like tar doesn't it?" :)

Much of the flat tire problems would be solved if they (we) put a tube inside. It's surprising how long tires hold up with tubes, easily a decade. Even if they go flat you don't have to worry about sealing the bead, just air it back up.
