In Texas, after passing a background check you take a 2 day course concerning the laws and various scenarios surrounding concealed carry. You then must pass a test and qualify on the range. Every 4 years you must renew and go throught the same process except the course is one day.

As someone mentioned, those with past criminal records have not stopped carrying guns because they have been disqualified from having a concealed carry permit. What has happened in Texas, as in every other state that has enacted right to carry laws, is that violent crime has dropped. Bad guys are bullies and opportunists. If they know that someone may bloody their nose or worse, they are much more likely to not deal with that party.

There is a Utopia. It's in the Texas hill country (central Texas) about 60 miles west of San Antonio. About 400 people, lots of land and deer. A very pretty place and the nearest Walmart is 45 miles away.

A Google search shows it was released in 1992 on cassette by MSC and the number is 4140. I didn't find it in the 4 or 5 out of print music sites I looked at but I did find a Cedar Ridge website. If it is the same group (they seem to specialize in bluegrass but I saw a few listed current songs that have a religious sound to the title), you might check with them to see if they have any unsold cassettes.

While I was looking at some info on pole barns a while back, one of the builders had an option of a heavy plastic form that the post fit tightly into and then the whole thing was put in the ground with 4-6 inches of the plastic form left above grade. Has anyone heard about these and if they work?

To do it properly, you have to use a dozer/rootplow to get the stumps out. Otherwise, you end up with thousands of little mesquite "shrubs" that have billions of thorns.

Most of the time we bulldoze, stack and burn it.

As you so candidly point out, you are about 40 years older than Tony and appear to have a gee-whiz, dandy life. I guess I have to wonder if many years ago, at least once or twice, didn't you ever feel completely overwhelmed by circumstances? If not, you are indeed blessed. <br>

I think that Tony has taken the first step to resolving his problems by admitting his has them and trying to do something about it. I concur with those that advise to try ALL other alternatives before resorting to prescription drugs but the fact remains that for some people they are the last resort and the only option. I'm not sure what you were referring to about sales being very stressful. While very true, I believe Tony is a technician at a tractor dealership. I believe that for someone his age, he's doing very well financially and has a job that he seems to really like. I imagine that many people would be happy if they could say the same.<br>

While "tough love" may have worked for your daughters and the many employees you applied it to, I'm not sure that it works for everyone. To demean and disparage someone and what they hold dear will undoubtedly cause a reaction. I'm just not sure it will be the one I hope you meant to elicit.<br>

I do disagree with one thing Tony says. If he made $45,000 last year, he certainly can afford counseling. His church or the city/county medical society where he lives should be able to refer him to a competent counselor. <br>

There is a product (the name escapes me but you should be able to do a search on Google and find it) that is supposed to repel snakes. You just sprinkle it around and have to replace it after a heavy rain. If that doesn't work a hoe is a more permanent solution.

Does anyone have any experience with air shocks or air overload springs? I had a friend who was always raving about the way they helped him level out his rear end when he towed his boat that was about the size of Chief's.

I can't find the original thread where I saw them mentioned but I want to thank everyone who recommended them. I finally got some for my JD riding mower and the difference has been nothing short of amazing. I can cut ealier in the day when the grass is still a little damp and go faster (with a cleaner cut) than I could before. I am always a little skeptical but these are the real deal.<br>

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose when buying from a far away dealer and it appears that you definitely came up snake eyes this time.

I agree with the others. Be honest and admit your mistake and ask for his help. If he's a good business man, he'll help you. If he doesn't, the only alternative is the District or Regional NH rep.

The Rescue is one of those vehicles made for auto shows to gauge public reaction and demand if it were to go into production. The response has been terrific but last time I talked to my DCX contact, no formal decision had been made to produce it.

Chief's right, it's an awesome vehicle. Hopefully they will make it and keep the price less than the H2 Hummer they are targeting. You probably can find a picture on the Jeep website.

My local NH dealer has a 1991 Ford 1920 4wd (gear) with Ford FEL and 1880 hours on it. It appears to be in decent shape with good tires and straight sheetmetal and good but faded paint. He's asking $8900 for it and might deal a little. A check of Machinery Link shows that the price is fair even without the FEL. My questions are: 1) Are there any known troublespots on this model? 2) Is there anything I need to look at in particular when checking this unit out? and 3) Is the price fair in the real world?<br>

I usually start at the top and let everything run down. I'm not sure that it makes any difference but you use less bleach and it seems to go a little quicker.

Actually, the reality of today's economy is that as competition drives down the prices the public pays for an item, it is impossible to maintain the same margins unless there is a corresponding decrease in the manufacture, marketing and sales costs associated with the item. While WalMart, Home Depot, etc., are great at negotiating with suppliers, to survive they rely on their ability to move the maximum amount of merchandise per square foot of space, They do this at smaller margins and rely on the immense volume they generate. Their fixed costs are constant and the largest variable cost is the price they pay for each item. If their margins were the same as the average small town hardware store, they could be open less hours and rely on less sales to produce the same profit.

I ran across a 1983 model International 245 4wd with 400 hours on it. It appears to be in very good condition with faded paint and straight sheetmetal and a strong sounding engine. They are asking $5900 for it. Looking in MachineryLink it appears the price may be a little high but maybe not considering the hours. It also says the engine is made by Mitsubishi and is 21 HP. My questions are: 1) Can it pull a 5ft. rotary cutter or would 4ft. be better 2)Is the 21hp engine or PTO 3)Does anyone know anything good or bad about this model and 5)Does the price sound fair?<br>

The Honda SUT (Sports Utility Truck) will be based on the Pilot and will have full-time All Wheel Drive (essentially front wheel drive w/a transfer case to the rear wheels and no low range). It will have the same V-6 as the Pilot and Odyssey and may or may not have a rear drop down to lengthen the cargo bed (like the Avalanche). It will not have a separate bed and will be about the same size as an Explorer Sport-Trac. All in all a great package for someone who occasionally needs to haul something but it definitely won't be a full-sized truck such as the Nissan Titan and it sure won't be in the same neighborhood as any of the 3/4 & 1 ton diesel pickups.

When I look at buying something like this, I generally look at what people that rely on them to make their living use. Around here, the commercial people use Echo, Stihl or Tanaka. I own 3 Echo trimmers and one small chainsaw and have had no problems whatsoever. If you take care of them and perform normal maintenance and keep stabilizer in the gas, I think you will be very happy. I've heard good things about all three, for me it just came down to price and service.
