There are many thing that we all me do that help us stay clear of problems when doing Maintenance. Here are a couple.<br>
<br>
1)Before you drain any fluid on a vehicle make sure you can open the hood to refill.<br>
<br>
2a) Before you drain an axle that has a drain and fill bolt make sure you cna reach the fill bolt and remove the fill bolt first before you drain it.<br>
<br>
2b)If filling (ie. transmission ) requires a level vehicle and unable to level consider having two clean contianers like gallon milk jugs so you can measure what comes out and then match that to only replace what you removed.<br>
<br>
2c) Make sure you have a pump to fill locations where it is not possible to pour into fill location before draining.<br>
<br>

I have a moderately steep paved driveway and Chains are defintiely not needed with 4WD and a snow blower front mount. Pushing a plow might be different though.

Issues of this type are usually related to cavitation problems taking place in the hydraulic pump.

Cavitation can be caused by several things, either individually, or through a combination of things.

Air bubbles in the oil, caused by cavitation, will make it nearly impossible for the pump to develop any useful oil pressure. I have a good feeling that this is your problem, due to the fact that your pump seems to be working fine when cold.

Cavitation can be caused by starving the pump of fluid, which happens when you have a plugged sump screen. It can also be caused by using the incorrect hydraulic fluid. Hydraulic fluids containing detergents will quickly foam up, preventing the pump from building pressure. Water in the oil can cause these problems, as well.

When troubleshooting hydraulic problems, many people jump immediately to the pump as being the culprit, but this is rarely the case.

When was the last time you performed a complete fluid and filter change? Are you using the proper fluid? Have you attempted to remove and clean the sump screen.....provided this applies to your tractor?

That light is a bell and whistle feature I expect,very cool. But just an indicator that you moved the 4WD lever, expect you may have an issue witht the linkage .

The 4100 is a compact Tractor whereas the 4010 is a full size. The wheels are different.

Not familiar with that tractor but most tractors have one drain plug, usually have cartridge style filters plus an internal screen filter.
