I was looking at the Operators Manual and it says to use 30 or 40W diesel oil (depending on temp) everywhere except the axles but everyone says to use hydraulic fluid. Can someone enlighten me on this? See below. This was copied and pasted from manual.
Engine sump
Lifter
Oil pan of air cleaner
Injection pump

Ugh that is a headache!

In a tractor, hydraulic fluid is primarily used to transfer power within a hydraulic system, while gear oil lubricates the gears in the transmission and differentials, and engine oil lubricates the moving parts within the engine itself; essentially, each oil serves a distinct function in different components of the tractor, meaning they should not be interchanged.

Key differences:

Hydraulic Fluid:
Function: Transmits power by creating pressure to move pistons and cylinders in hydraulic systems like lifts and loader arms.
Key features: High resistance to shearing forces, good heat dissipation properties.
Gear Oil:
Engine Oil:

Important points to remember:

Never interchange these fluids:
Using the wrong oil in a system can lead to significant damage due to improper lubrication and wear.
Consult your tractor manual:
Always refer to your tractor's owner's manual to determine the correct type and viscosity of hydraulic fluid, gear oil, and engine oil needed.
