OK.. got the Power Service stuff.. Guess I'll treat the fuel tomorrow and see how it works out. It's been increadibly warm here in WV.. but I expect that won't last long....

My 2210 lives in a (currently) unheated pole barn. What you've said about the 5w-40 Rotella makes sense. Might stop over at Farm & Fleet to see if they've got it by the 5 gal bucket...

I found with a FEL on the 2210, you want to have a ballast box, with a good amount of weight in it... AND tire pressure is important. I've had mine in a few scary situations, so like anything else, ya' gotta be carful not to roll it over.

A few months ago, you guys helped me decide which JD was right for my situation. The 2210 is perfect. I have several questions. <br>

Winter's approaching. The tractor lives in my currently unheated pole barn. I've got a battery-tender to help maintain the battery. <br>

ENGINE OIL:<br>
What viscosity & grade of engine oil do you recomend (I will be using the tractor for snow removal occasionally). <br>

FILTERS:<br>
Is there a source for good quality oil filters aftermarket or maybe the stock filters somewhere on the internet? Can I get a Yanmar, Wix, NAPA or other filter, or do I "need" to use a JD part. <br>

FUEL ADDITIVES:<br>
Do I need to use any type of fuel additive during the winter to reduce the chances of "gelling"? <br>

OK.. need more info.. what dimentions do I need to consider when looking for I-Match (or other quick connect) compatible implements? The ballast box I have has a I-Match "compatible" sticker on it... the Worksaver PHD obvisously doesn't, 'cause it's not a Deere item..

To me, it appears that the spacing (width) of the side pins is critical. Your thoughts?

Glad to see this posted. I plan on doing this mod too. I'm OK with the idiot lights but you'll notice that on the 2210, the temp light does NOT self test when you first turn on the key. All of the other lights do.. but the temp doesn't. After reading the manual.. that is how it was designed. Go figure?! Imagine overheating the engine all because a .75c bulb wasn't working....

I think WW fluid would be my choice but during REAL cold weather, I've seen the stuff turn to slurpy or even freeze... Maybe if I added some extra mentanol to it the freeze point would go down enough to be safe. I'm in the Mid-Atlantic USA> Dealer says they use WW fluid..

OK.. I'll crack the manual again and try pulling it off this weekend. The guy that delivered it, showed me how to remove the bucket (took 30 seconds). What threw me is the JD website makes it sound as if the "stand" is an option. The dealer 'forgot' to put on the grille guard (which they're sending me) and I wanted to make sure they didn't overlook anything else. Really like this 2210. Thanks again for your comments.

Though about it some more and decided to get the 2210. Amazing how I spent more time 'deciding' on which tractor to get than I do when I go to buy a truck! Appreciate all the comments.

OK.. I'll be checking out the 790 w/ 419 tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a front blade, and a post hole digger, too.... If not, the 2210 should do.

Good idea.. I plan on doing some test rides this Saturday. Turns out the 790 is not much more expensive than the 2210 (not including accessories). The 4000 series is quite a bit more...

I'll check the operator's area and operation and see if it's going to work.

Bwaaaahahahaha! Lucas electrics... Back in my high school era days.. A friend and I swapped my Yamaha XS650 for my his Norton for the night. Kick starter nearly launched me over the bike. Finally got all the *backwards* controls figured out.. I was cruising around a curve.. and the Lucas gremlins kicked in (no headlight!).

As for carbs, I learned on the MG Midget that on British bikes, if the carbs are reasonably close, don't mess with 'em!
