This is good information. I was using a Cub Cadet, that was only a few years old before it died on me. I did cut a lot of tall weeds and brush with it, but it seems that it should have lasted longer than that. I will try the Stihl out next week.<br>

I believe that most of the issues that we hear about could be based on the dealer that sold the tractor to start with. I do not mean that they should catch every little thing that is wrong with the tractor before it is delivered to the customer, and the buyer should remember that they are purchasing an agriculture product, not a luxery car, but that they should try to give the best customer service to there customers that they can. I think that if most of the issues were fixed with a sincere effort to make the customer happy, very few complaints would exist. After all NH, JD, and the rest that are under approx. 125 HP, are all made over seas. So I do believe that the most important decision in purchasing a new tractor is not only the tractor, but how the dealership works with you. I visited by dealer for almost 6 months, and took many test drives before I bought mine, and each time he took the time to spend with me, and not try to rush me into something that I was still looking into.

Most autopart stores will recycle your used anitfreeze. Also, Tractor Supply Store will recycle up to 5 gallons at a time of oil, antifreeze, ect. at a time.

My dealer sells both NH and Kubota, and the Kubota's are higher in price for every line. But the real question, is will this dealer that you are purchasing from, service your smaller tractor in the same time line as his other larger tractor customers. If the majority of his machines are 40 + hp, will he be putting the bigger tractors in front of you, and keep pushing you back in line, when it comes to servicing the machines.

Do these prices seem reasonable

Yes that is correct. I live down in south Texas ( south of Houston) and there is a lot of land down here. Most of the people buy the lots to get away from the city, but they do not have the equipment needed to take care of it. On the average, I get $70 for the first acre and $40 to $50 for each addition acre. The two lots that I cut on a regular basis, are actually owned by the apartment complexes next to them. They buy the extra land with intentions of expanding at a later date, but in the mean time they need it cut. It is very true about the hazards that you can not see. I would recomend walking the lot before you cut. I would have hit something everytime, if I did not check first.

Ive got a Big Tex trailer and it has done a good job for me. It's a 16 foot 7000# capacity, tandem axel with brakes. Like the others, the paint could be better, but what trailer couldn't be. It will do a good job for you.

I have the TC30, and it works great for me. I also have 10 acres, and it does exactly what I need. I have FWD and the front end loader, and it works great. I would also recomend going with the 9 x 3 trans. to save some money. One of the main reasons that I got the TC30 was because it is so easy to work on. But as said earlier, one of the most important things to think of is service from your dealer. Get to know them, and ask all the questions that you can think of.

I understand your problem. I am in the same situation as you are, limited time. But, I enjoy working on my tractor myself. It really does not matter if I am out in the field on it, or working on it, atleast I am outside enjoying the weather. If you have 1/2 a day or so, why not get an early start, and do the job yourself. And just think, the money that you save can go towards another new toy. HAHA

I think that you could go either way, and be happy with the results. I went with the R-4 tires on my TX30, because I do some finish mowing, but also have 6 acres of pasture that can get pretty muddy when it rains. The tires have done an excellent job for me when mowing, but I just needed the extra traction while working in the back pasture. Good luck.

Yes, high sulfer, off road, ag diesel is all the same thing. My distrbutor used to keep his tank with an "off road use only" on it, but because of some idiots, (he caught 2 guys trying to sneak some into their trucks), he now has stopped that. I will try the idea of the 50 to 70 gal tank. Thanks for the info.

I agree with the others. Don't short your self on hp if you can afford it. Think of the jobs that you have ahead of you, and not just what are doing right now. What are you going to do with the 400 acres ? I just bought a TC30 this week, and I understand what you are saying about making the payments, but if you short your self now, what is it going to cost you later. Run the numbers and see how it comes out. Just a thought.

Thanks for the advise. The dealer quoted me for the LX5 rough cut mower. My land is in good shape (grass not to high, and the back pasture is not in bad shape), but I will be cutting others land for extra cash. I do not know what type of condition theirs will be in. I would like to get the front end loader now, but a little tough on the monthly payments. The dealer did quote the tractor with the hydrolic box already attatched to the tractor. He said that it would save money in the long run. I was also told that the 790 was very easy to work on.

Yes, I agree with what you are saying. It is the same here in Texas, I know of several people that vote straight democrat, just because. They have no idea what the issues are, or how their party deals with these issues. Thank God that there are enough sensible people here to keep this state on the right path.

I am starting to agree with you on the 4 wheel drive. After looking at both, I can see the advantage of the 4 wheel drive. A live PTO would be a big advantage with the finish mower. I have been quoted for the TC-30 4 wheel drive, with a 6 foot finish mower, a 5 foot brush hog, and a tandem axel, 16 foot, 6000# capacity trailer for $14,900.

I also have been keeping an eye on the infomation shared here. I have heard several people having good luck with the 20 to 25 hp models, but I have heard more people that have had problems with theirs. I agree that the price is a great deal, but I still am not sure about reliability.
