I was not trying to be rude. But I have seen it happen before. Some home owner was turned in for cutting neighors lawns and lost everything. I was just letting him know what could happen. We don't like what we know as scabs taking our work. It happening around here way to much. But thats business. I don't turn people in. I rather buy them out. Its easyer. I have helped other kids to start their business. From how to get on the books to equipment, as long as they promise not to touch any of my accounts. My business is fully insured and all the books done right. (one customer of mine is an accountant he set them up for me 4 years ago, and double checks them for me) I am going to be a member of the local chamber of commerce shortly.

Yes I am young. I am only 18. 19 in 14 days. I don't do any the table work. Never did. I went and got it all started right at the begining. Had heard to many horria stories. I have bought a large amount of equipment from guys who ran under the table and when bottoms up.

As for the light bars. No takers, so I hadn't built any. But they were going to be part of the Equipment repair/welding divison of my business I have. I do maintance on equipment, welding, metal work, sandblasting, etc. I also subcontract a lot of my work to other companies. I do a lot of things. I am a workaholic. .

I cut grass for a living. Check out a eXmark metro. They are great machines. 48" belt drives go for $2600. I have a 32" model. Never had a problem with it. It get 1 to 5 hours a week worth of used, 35 weeks a year for 6 years now. I wouldn't get the snapper or husqvarna mowers. Just not the same quality of a eXmark, scag, bobcat,etc.

If you use your tractor regulary you shouldn't have a problem with rust. But I have seen brand new machines with rusty cylinder at the dealship. Guess they have had them sitting there to long out side in the elements. To me that mean $$$$ off then when they try to sell them.

I am with beale on this a B7510 or 7610 or 2410 if you have the money to spend. I have a B7500 and love that little tractor. Get a kubota, you will be much happier with it. This is a lot coming from a kid who grew up with john deere. I still have 3 john deere tractors.

My little 1965 JD 110 8 hp two wheel drive lawn and garden tractor can pull a 8" brinly plow.
My little 1987 JD 214 14 hp two wheel drive lawn and garden tractor can pull a 10" brinly plow.

So I am sure your BX can pull a 12" single bottom plow.

I use the loader to do this. Makes a big difference. It is so much easyer, when already fighting a heavy and hard to move deck.

His profile shows a BX2230 w/loader and snow blower. Keep you bucket low and go so. Also filling the rear tires makes a big difference. I almost flipped my B7500 on the 1st day i had it. (I haven driven many tractors so it wasn't do to a lack of experience.) I got the rear tires filled 3 days later. (It was christmas when I got it) I haven't had a problem since.

I wouldn't go over a 42" model for a brush hog. That tractor has a very small pto hp rating. MMM don't take as much power to turn as a brush hog. I see your in maryland, I just happen to have a 42" landpride for sale. Its located in Mt. Airy. see classifieds.

I have only ran a 655, not a 670, but the 670 is the gear drive version of the 655. A loader is hard to find. I would recomend built one your self. The guy i bought my 48" landpride off of built one for his 850. You could get an after market one. Let us know if you get it.

When it comes to tractors never go smaller, always go bigger. Once you have had power and lost it, you will never forgive yourself for trading it. If you do decide to trade maybe a B2910, not a BX23. Then you still have some power that you had. I want trade in my B7500 right now, but means replaceing every attachment except my rock rake. So a new tractor would cost X plus new brush hog, rear blade, box scraper, MMM, loader, tiller, snow blower, snow plow. Plus I would want to add a back hoe. I got one neighbor with a L2900 on 2.2 acres with only 1.4 acres of grass. He used to have a house on 9 acres. So it could work.

A bx23 couldn't even turn a 5' rotory cutter. Not enough power to turn it. Plus if it could, anything more than grass would stop it. A 42" would be best or a 48" at the max. I have a 42" land pride for sale (see classifieds)

One of the sales guys at my dealer has a kubota L3404 (I think) with a cab and AC. He used it to blow a 200 ft long driveway and cut less than 3 acres with a 84" 3pt groomming mower. He when a little crazy. He was talking about buying a kubota M the was on the lot for to long, to cut the grass. He is nuts.

How come this site always does this. A guy asks a simple question and everyone turns it in to a big arugment.

I wouldn't modify any safety device. Which is why i built my lights the way I did. (I am real good at modifying stuff, but not doing anything stucture to the orignal machine.) They just hang from the rops. The U bolts clamp them down. I Turn these out for B series kubota for $250. I am pretty shure i can built one to fit your needs.

Just be prepared to spend $6000 at a mimimum. Then go up from there on a price. If you were close to MD, i have a friend with a 721D grass hopper w/52" deck, 61" deck, 72" deck, hydraulic lift, 15 cu ft vac/catcher. He used different size decks on different lawns. It had 2400 hours, but thats only 1/3 of its designed life span. I think he wanted $7500 for it. That combo new would be $20,000.

A 4310 would be a minumim size for that size property. May be larger. You could always finance it.

If you do buy a 6100. I got a 42" landpride brush hog that will fit it. The guy i bought it off of had it on a b6100 and then a BX2200. see classifieds.
