I have a Kubota L2350 w/25 HP. The blade, however is rated for tractors over from about 35-70 HP.

I have a Kubota B1700. I use my loader to help me mount the belly mower. Tip <br>the bucket forward and push up on a block of wood. Roll the mower under and drop <br>the loader. Connect the spline/u joint to the midmount pto. Insert the side pins and<br>raise the front mounting handle. Voila, the mower is attached in less than 4 minutes, no bruised <br>knuckles, no driving over the deck. Then you can opt to remove the loader while mowing.<br>Nice cut and no sore neck from looking backward. Fimish mowers have their advantages, but I prefer the midmount<br>for mowing. I can always use the rotary cutter for those spots I want to back into and rough areas where the grass<br>is to high to mow.

The lift capacity is what really matters. Things get weird with the stablity of your tractor if you are lifting anything above a third of your tractor's weight if you don't have a counter weight. Think of breakout capacity as your safety factor as your load you are lifting is moving (going up!). Moving loads have a shock effect, the practical expression is that it will make a load seem much heavier (get on an elevator by yourself and jump - the car will move!). The larger the difference between the max load & the breakout, the better the safety factor against bending something on your loader. <br>As far as what was said earlier, the breakout force should be measured from your bucket, where the load is. I've been away a while. You have a backhoe huh? That is the way I'd go for trees of this size. Get a good grab around some roots around the bottom and give'm a good pull. Two or three grabs ought to lift the whole mess out. I've also put a chain up as high as I could reach for leverage and drag the tree out. I do this where I can't get a mower. Rootless is better than any kind of stump, but mowing/sawing is faster. It depends if you want to put up with the stumps until they rot out. As far as regrowth - I mow several times a year. It takes care of them and they usually die by the second season.<br>I guess I'm saying here is that there are several ways, depending on your stituation and what you want to put up with when you are done. <br>Lee

If this a one time job, I'd probably go with the back blade. You will get tons more use with it in the long run and it's cheaper. However, the box is better for this application. <br>Lee

I cannot complan about my JD 4100! I bought it beacause of the price, I wanted bigger,<br>but now having it I am glad I did. It's a great little tractor. I have mowed with a <br>5' finishing mower, plowed snow, moved dirt, pushed and pulled trees, and have graded a<br>private road. The only complaint I have is the price of attachments! I cannot afford<br>the toys I want for it.<br>The loader comes off in about 2 Minutes! It is hard to believe how simple they have<br>make it!!!<br>Good luck!

I decided on Mobil's Delvac 1 for use in my tractor after researching the various synthetic and non-synthetic oils available for diesel engines. Mobil's website has a wealth of information about the product, how it compares to conventional motor oil, etc.. Finally decided on the John Deere 4100 tractor with 8F4R collar shift trans.,engine-coolant heater, bar tires(R1), and rear work light kit. I will be filling the rear tires and getting a wieght box. Also getting these attachments: JD410 loader ( 53

Guy, I have the same type situation, and I opted for the Deere 4200 4x4 hydro with the 420 loader and R4 tires. I use a 5' full-floating finish mower. 4+ acres of yard with trees and natural areas. My 4200 is on order and am currently using my other compact tractor to do the job. Good luck. Kevin

anyone withinfo on the comparison of the glideshift version of kubota tracotrs please let me know the pros and cons of it against the dt which is a synchr tranny. most people have told me the gst is mot trouble free and easier on clutches with no power loss like the hst. any info certainly would be appreciated.

I have a 4100 with the R4's. I mow the lawn with it and have had no real problems. I just try to avoid the lawn the day after rain, but that is because of all the clay I have and turfs would leave tracks in that when it is wet! If you are going with a 4200 or 4300 you will have a greater weight to deal with.<br>

You won't need down pressure to dig a 12

quick enough with the 3pt it will screw itself into the ground and stall the
engine. Now when I hook up the 24" flat bottom screw that's a whole different
story. I extended the auger frame about 6' so two men could put pressure on the
auger. It still takes awhile to dig a 4' deep hole. "> Auger Info

Planning on purchasing a 4 foot light duty rotary cutter, any suggestions on brands. I have been looking at the JD413 Rotary cutter, has anyone has experience with this cutter. Thanks in advance for any help.

Amen to the coering aerator. That's going to bring up a bunch of plugs that <br>will breakdown rather quickly and serve to fill in the holes. The trick then <br>is to move the core residue to the low spots. The backward rear blade should do <br>the trick for you. just don't be too aggressive in trying to flatten. <br>Then go over lawn with a pull behind roller to flatten out where you put the <br>residue. Trick is to criss cross (2 diagnal passes) with the corer to achieve <br>lots of holes (more residue) and complete coverage. That ought to also improve <br>overall health of the lawn via loosening soil and allowing penetration of rain <br>thru the turf to engourage deeper roots.

i just purchased a 1920 new holland 4x4, shuttle shift ,w/loader and 6'box scrape for $15400.00 + $80 tax. the tractor is less than a year old 100hrs im in western north carolina. was the best deal i could find on a compact, not many around to pick from unless you buy new. the tractor has r1 tires the dealer said r4s are not avaliable on this model,just wondering how true this is. thanks to everyone on the mboard ive been checking it for the past 6months , really helped. ps i checked out the

My solution. Buy the most horsepower I can afford, that I can still manuever. And that's the <br>important thing. Make sure that you can do what you want to with the tractor you want. If you<br>have a golf course lawn, big, wide, open, then a 60 or 72 inch deck and 30HP tractor are called for<br>but they will tend to make more of an impression on the grass. If you have 2 acres like me with lots <br>of trees to manuever around and under, then a 4100 with a 54 or 60 deck might be better. The horsepower<br>requirements are not that important. For what you are talking about, your mower<br>deck will be your power hog, so 20HP for 60 inch or 25 for 72 will be fine. For loader work though,<br>weight and traction are important. Bigger equals heavier equals more traction. Bigger also means more awkward,<br>one of the reasons I prefer the 855/955 over the 4200/4300s. The bigger overall size on the newer models<br>means less manueverable in between the trees. Think about trailering as well. An 855 with mower and loader on<br>approaches 3000 lbs, which with trailer puts you close to 4000 lbs to pull. You need a rear wheel drive vehicle<br>and electric brakes to safely pull it. Depends how close your sister lives. At 8mph, it takes less time to load<br>trailer and unload than it does to drive over for anything more than a mile or so.<br>Lots to think about. Just be sure to buy big enough, or you'll be like me, and moving up every 3 years. Should have<br>bought big enough 3 times ago!<br>Big G

I have a '76 Yanmar YM240. It's a very nice tractor. The only real problem I've had with it is two excessively worn gears in the transmission. It appears that the previous owner was shifting while still moving. Parts availability was absolutely no problem. Also remember, if you get a smaller John Deere (the 55 and 70 series, Idon't know about the 4000 series) it's made by Yanmar. The real question in my mind would be, can ou get parts. If this dealer also services the Yanmars, you probably don't have much to worry about. By the way, I don't have a dealer near me and I can still get parts mail order.<br>

Check the radiator, see if it's clogged with debris. I had a similar problem and that's all that it was, dirty radiator fins.<br>
