Well you do know what H.a.z. means,have used that a lot myself. Again you got to know what the diffinition of the word annealing is,there is a certain amount of grain change in the H.A.Z.,but in plain ole carbon steel,don't worry about it. The quality of the weld is the thing,too many people get them a little m.i.g. machine,start trying to weld,get cold lap,lack of fusion,etc. Then they think its the metal that made their weld weak. ISH,well you might be right and then you might be wrong,thats the thing about a used tractor. That was my choices,used yanmore from a company I never heard of before or a new chinese one from a company I had. Parts will never be a issue with the chinese one,dealer support will not be an issue either,and the company has been in bussiness for years and has their name on it.Used anything scares me a little cause you just never know,and like you said,reconditioned might mean anything,I mean was you there when it was"reconditioned". Now having said that,my neighbor has a yanmor,he has been running it rough for about three tears now,I don't think hes put all that many hrs.,but the hrs he has put on it have been rough ones,and as far as I know he has only had to replace water pump and a few other little things. So I guess he didn't get burned. Richard

Hey Chief,this chinese tractor board on tractor point is working out good huh? We probably already have the alltime record for deletions,and we are just a month or so old! As far as heaters go,I bought one of those little magnetic type and after its been on the oil pan for about two hrs,the only thing that is warm is the heater,it might help a little,not much,those ones that you glue,or otherwise stick to the bottom of oil pan and leave on might be the thing?,if you didn't foul it up running it around in the weeds and mud. I think that idea that Dennis just got about putting deleted posts on a seperate place for awhile for all to read is a good thing,some stuff a couple guys said in response to your post were pretty damned nasty,[I can bring it out in um can't I?], the one guy was in on the last cluster,figures,hes from w.va.,like me. Be nice to see that stuff out where all could read and judge. Richard

About jap companies working in china.,yes,big ones.My personel experience,didn't read it,higher end stainless steel items for processing plastic,made in U.S.,shipped to china,paid for by Jap company,in other words,the Jap company is the owner of the plant in china,and is getting some of there equipment made in the U.S.,japan knows that this item is made by a company in the U.S,better then anywheres else,they also know that the price of making the end product is cheapest in china,I think this sort of thing has been going on for years. After a while the chinese figure out how to cut out the middle man,in this case japan,and also figure out how to make their own equipment,cut out the second middle man.,the company in the U.S.,then they sell their product to both countries. So china even at the present may by some seem to be nothing more than cheap slave labor,is looking at the big picture,thats the way japan got started. But china is 100 japans. Richard

I don't think you can just rent tne back hoe that goes on a tractor,[maybe,but don't think so],the post hole digger don't cost all that much,so you may just buy it.If you plan on mowing your yard with it,you probably want a mid mount and a smaller tractor,four wheel drive if you plan on moving snow,just a blade will be all you need along with the fel that you said you wanted,nothing works to good on gravel without moving gravel,snowblowers,I'm not sure,but dont think they work to good on gravel either,, you will also need a lot of money. All the hoses,[for raditiator],can be bought at about any auto store,now I havn't had to buy any yet,but was told by many. The top hose is napa#777,bottom ff233, little hose 9807 5/8 i.d.,I believe these numbers are for a 254,but you should be able to match one at a good store when you bring your old one in.Who you buy your tractor off of makes a big difference,for instance,if I need a question like this answered,I just call northern,they tell me,they will send it to you free of course if its under warrenty,if not they will sell it to you,they have a lot of stuff in stock,but on something like this,its probably a lot quicker to go to the store and buy one. Green,never owned or drove a wrecker,and never gave one much thought,but if I rolled my car and then called a wrecker and they brought a rollback out I believe then I would be thinking,[and then asking them],how were they planning on useing that to right the car? Looks to me like a roll back would be totally useless for this unless they had a pig pole of somekind on the back. Richard

Its not they,its grinder who fell off,go back and read them,I was just trying to put him back on,he has got this horrible dislike for chinese tractors,so horrible,that he just can't help himself,and had to bring them into the mahindra post,so don't say they,if he got on the johndeere post and out of the blue started bad mouthing them,that post would go in a different direction also. Rat,I guess it all depends on how big you tedder is,as far as weight its rated for about 900lbs at the three point,some have said they have picked up a good deal more than that though,but unless I had a loader on the front of it with some dirt in the bucket,I don't think I would want to try. Have you seen one of these jinmas close up?,they are not what I'd call a compact tractor,they are a small tractor for sure,but not compact so they are taller then a compact,which might mean that they will pick it up high enough? The best compact tractor?One of the big three probably,but if you don't need a jaguar,and a ford will do,then get the ford,it also depends on how much you are planning on using it etc. And how much money you got to spend. I wouldn't do it,get the 4wd,and I have heard some negative things about farmpro on the chinese board,mine is not a farmpro,so I can't tell you anything as fact,and as we all know there is something negative said about every kind and brand.Ithink the nortrac204,4wd,with loader is about 8,500,6 months parts and labor,pretty good rep. I mean there is saving money and then there is saving money. Richard

I work at short constution type jobs generally and the old thing is a teacher,but you be right,ain't many jobs down here. That kk at tractor supply sounds good,for the price and being a kk,and the fact that many people now have told me its a good tiller. The only thing that could beat it would be a used one with somekind of a guarantee,I think I'll at least call that Beverage place before I go down to tractor supply,if they have a good looking 5 ft. with a 6 months guarantee,because thats all you would be able to tell,if it wasn't beat all up,and no oil leakage with good tines,you wouldn't know how it works,got to make sure the p.t.o. will hook up and turns at 540 in the same direction too. If you just bought a used one off of somebody that you didn't know with no guarantee then you could be in for a bad time, Richard

Locusts are one tough kinda wood,thats why they were about all used up around this area,used for fence posts,I don't know how deep they are rooted,but they root easy,a green,[and not fresh],locust post will start growing,with out any man type help,and the wood is hard on chain saws,so what you are saying makes since to me,generally speaking,if you leave 4 or 5 ft. of stump,it will give you leverage worked loose with enough force and time,if you just got a few then buy you a new bar and chain and waste the one you got on your saw now,cutting them down about flush,enough where you can mow over,if you got more,might need a backhoe and a dozer,if the stumps are 3 or 4 ft high,might get by with just a dozer. TBKEEFER,your post is about three years old so..... as far as the extended warrenty,it applies anywhere,any garage or mechanic that you get to work on it,northern will send the parts and pay the repair bill,or thats what I was told,now I'm sure there is a ceiling or standard rate limit for the labor,my local INDEPENDANT green and red dealers who have mechanics and garages,both said they would work on it,they didn't say their rates,but to them it was just work to be had. If you could find a mechanic that could just come to your house and work on it,that would work also. Any place that works on diesel trucks would be able to handle it also. So if you think about it,it may be easier getting warrenty work done on a nortrac then on a johndeere. Richard

And shortmag,or shortmag,just like typing shortmag,you could pay under 8,000 and have somebody put it together for you,change the fluids,test it out,and offer it with a 6 months parts and labor warrenty,a 254,thats got a nice red color,but you would be missing out on all that fun..... Richard

Harvy,I know you wasn't talking to me,but to Dennis.I for one would welcome anybody on here as long as they didn't come on just to say negative things about these tractors.The worst comments so far have come from people who do not have one,will tell you they are not getting one and then tell you what a fool you were for buying one.Now of course your going to have a little of that on any brand board,but we wasn't even allowed to get started before it started coming. And Dennis is trying to help us out by providing us a forum to discuss our tractors and help each other out,our board has been down and messed up for a while now. So,yeah come on down,you'll find that there are a lot of people who own chinese tractors,who are farmers,welders,mechanics,etc.,and quite a few also own other brands. We might be able to help out ourselfs,if you all ever need any,if we can get over arguing about their existence. Richard
