Sorry I just saw your post. I have a 970 that had the same issue. we replaced the time module once it would for a while but started doing the same thing. I think the after market modules cannot hold up because it was bad again.

This may sound crazy but I do not have the funds to keep replacing the module and I need the tractor running so I removed the electrical shut off section of the sileniod and hooked up a pull cord with a handle and a spring to hold the unit open and just use it like it is. when I need to shut it off we just pull the handle. the older 1070's ran with a similar shutoff using the throttle handle.

I have not had another problem in over a year.

On several occasions I have had to bleed my injectors due to air getting into the lines overnight. <br>
The tractor will run good until we shut it down for the day and the next morning it will not start. I bleed the lines and find injector 2 and 3 will prime fairly fast but 1 and 4 take about 3 to 4 times longer. how is this air getting into the lines overnight? I am talking about the metal tubes coming off the injector pump being empty. <br>

Or am I looking at this backwards and the injector pump has gotten air into it and has pushed the air into the injector lines. funny how the middle two lines will bleed out so much faster the the outer lines though. <br>

Thanks, but I know this will not stay in the unit. this is an old manual steering unit. no hydraulics at all.

Due to the play in the main output shaft we just completely packed it with Grease. I think a 140 gear oil may of been the right thing to use but as I said. not sure it would of stayed in the unit for long.

Thanks for the input but unfortunately this JD uses a relay switch (actually 2) which turns the fuel solenoid on. I have already thought of what you speak of as that the simplest this to do but due to the relay switch I am not completely sure the solenoid is run off of 12 volts (due to the relay it may require less. I do not want to try the easy way out only to find it now cost me a new solenoid also.

I really need to get info on the master control box because I am pretty sure that is where the issue is.

I wish this was a possibility. My mechanic thinks the filter was tossed out during the summer.
I agree with having a bearing shot and running it will destroy a shaft and possibly even more in the transmission.
