Thanks for the information on obtaining rolling circumference figures for smaller sized turf tires. I have actually determined that I can use a 315/75-16 truck tire to obtain the diameter & r/c I need without having to downsize the rim to the 15 inch. My reason to go smaller is for a high density apple orchard. With the tight planting I don't have much room in the rows so both narrow and short is better.

Visited my local JD dealer today looking for a replacement for my 10 year old JD 870. He had me look at the 4400 4wd. I balked at the price, (close to $20k), and then he told me of Deere's soon to be released 990 model. Like the 790 which replaced the 770 with more hp, the 990 is supposed to be the old 970 with the additional 5hp the 1070 had. The dealer had limited information for me. Does anyone out there know more about the

I would thing long and hard about buying a rental tractor. I rented one before I bought mine. I rented it for eight hours, I used it hard all eight hours trying to get the most out of my money. From the looks of the tractor, everyone else who used the tractor did the same. Don't get in a hurry, post on boards

Long believes Ed used the tractor beyond its intended design limits and this may or may not be true, we the ctb readers will never know for sure. Ed never told us what Longs reason for calling it abuse was (maybe he didn't ask). We don't know if they or Ed's dealer looked at the tractor, and we don't know if they quoted him a fair price to fix it assuming it was abuse. I have to say that the Long guys were more than willing to discuss the matter the products and the company policies. The man appeared honest open and certainly eager to please. He answered many of my questions regarding the landtracs, we discussed all of the warranty claims on this tractor and how each were handled (including refunding one unhappy customers money). The openness and helpfulness that I recieved from these people was well above average. It says a lot that with Long you can call and discuss your problems with an individual person. They are a smaller company than many, and have a vested interst in customer service. Long doesn't give you a claim number they speak with you individually (even when your not a customer like me). I was unsure until today, But I like what I have heard. In the coming month I intend to buy a landtrac 280. As for Ed I hope things work out for you, but it sure sounds like you might have been angry and had some communication problems. I think if you are telling the truth and it was not abuse. Long will do you right..if you are leavin somthin out of the story...well then I don't now. If you haven't already call and calmly talk it out with them. I wish you the best. Maybe trade yours in towards a Landtrac...who nows

Ed,<br>Are you bitter with Long?<br>seriously have you talked with any of Longs regional reps. I spoke with one a few months ago (I got number from local dealer) and he was adamant that long stands behind what they sell. Might be worth a shot.

I have been looking at these tractors for several months trying to get info. I spoke with there factory rep in NC about two months ago. he said they had sold about 300 tractors at that time and had no warranty claims made. a dealer in tennesse (maverick tractor)sent me an email regarding the few he has sold. he stated that he had just completed his first 100hr check on one he had sold, and said it had no leaks and no problems. this guy also said he spoke to mitsubishi about the engines prior to selling the tractors. the mits dealer said that the engines had been used in forklifts for quite a few years and he had only been into one (it overheated and warped the aluminum head). The only negative thing I have seen is that if you are operating the tractor on a steep incline with less than a 1/4 tank of fuel it can suck air, however i was told that it recovers on its own without bleeding the system (i'm not sure this is true just what I was told). I have driven a couple of tractors at dealers both the 280 and the 360, however I have only seen the 360 with a loader. I am waiting on my Ga dealer to get a 280 with a loader in stock. As for parts, I have beeen assured that they are readily available, and that the company in korea LG Machinery has been building tractors for many years and has no history of parts problems. I like the machines a lot and will probably buy one when I find the right deal, but I would sure like to hear from someone who has

I have a JD755 the loader comes off in way under 5 min's. It is the easiest attachment <br>to remove and to install. I lower the bucket until the front wheels are off the ground. <br>Push in on the black knobs on both sides of the loader which is done sitting in the seat.<br>and then pull them back towards you which should disengage toward the front of the tractor.<br>Then I lower the front of the tractor and I believe raising the bucket lowers the self supporting<br>stand. when the arms that connect right in front of your feet raise where the front wheels will <br>pass below them i quit operating the loader. turn off the tractor and move the <br>loader valve in all directions to releave the pressure. and hop off of the tractor for the first <br>time and disconnect the four quick disconnect lines by simply pushing in on the <br>outer collar. and you are finished. if you are still having problems and I should be able to copy <br>the manual and fax or mail you a copy. Once you do it once or twice it is a cynch. Remember when <br>trying to reconnect drive the tractor slowly into the loader all the way. turn off the tractor. <br>operate the valve in all directions (or the pressure will not let you connect the hoses). connect the <br>hoses. crank the tractor and lower the connecting arms till they fit into the cradle and it lifts the<br>front tires, then move the rods on both sides back to the locked position and you are done. let me know<br>if you have any questions.
