I have raised the mower deck and looked underneath (very bad practice, I know!) and didn't see any grease. Should I? The mower is new and was shipped dry; is it possible that the cavity is really big and there's not enough grease in it yet? A few hours ago I put 30 squirts in each fitting; nothing came out.

This is what I was hoping to hear -- let the clippings dry out. In terms of just letting the horses eat, I think the pasture might be too big for three horses. Also, I noticed that there are weeds starting to grow and spread; my hope is that mowing regularly will help keep the pasture lush.

If it makes a difference, the pasture the horses are in is a former hay field; up until last year a local farmer cut and baled at least twice a season.

Someone gave me a trailer that was used to haul a 14' aluminum boat. I built a 6'x6' frame and turned it into a small utility trailer. The trailer tongue is 8'-10' long so I will cut it down. My question is, how long should the tongue be? Is there any kind of ratio to follow, or do I just take a wild guess?

I am in the final stages of building a new house. It's in the middle of an old hay field and required significant changes in the topography. I put in some lawn using just a York rake to create some green around the house and hold the soil in place. Once the house is done and there are no more people and trucks tearing up the lawn, I will make things look better. My plan is to rent a Woods turf renovator when I put in the rest of my lawn. It also seems like it will overseed the lawn that is already in.

I have a 7510 hydro and love it. I can't imaging not having the hydro, especially for brush hogging and loader work, where I change speeds frequently.

So I feel kind of stupid...I think what happened is that when I dis-engaged the rear PTO I pushed the lever a little too far forward and kicked on the mid PTO. I went out to the tractor and engaged the rear PTO then looked underneath and saw the mid PTO was not engaged.

I was thinking about getting a set of forks for my 7510, but have gotten conflicting advise. One dealer said fine, but be careful. Another said the forks would make the tractor too prone to tip and he would not sell them to me. Just wondering, is the 7510 too light to use a set of forks or not? I would use them mostly to move stuff around -- for example, the other day I stacked about 10 oak 1x6x10s on the front arms of the tractor -- with forks, it would have been easier and I could have put on a few more.

I've had my 7510, loaded R4's, 302 loader, 4' brushog, 6' grader blade, and 5' York rake for about a year. The 4' box blade is on the way, a 5' RFM will be on site before the summer is out, and most likely a 5' rear blower will be ready for winter. I "needed" the tractor as we are in the process of building a house on 5 acres -- with a barn for three horses. The horses are my wife's, so the tractor is mine...

Overall it's a great machine -- has done everything I have asked of it. During the earth-moving process and initial round of brush hogging just about the whole 5 acres, I wished for a bigger machine. Now that that is behind me, the small size of the 7510 makes getting in and out of the barn easy, the relative light weight alows me to drive through muddy paddoks with minimal lasting impact, and the 4' bucket is a great size for the majority of the homeowner chores I use it for.

I wish it had position control as the quarter inch valve on the 3 PH is not ideal -- but is better than a simple up and down control.

I just bought the parts to change the antisway bars from the stock turn buckles to the 2910 bar and pin system -- not a big deal but I think the upgrade will make adjustments that much easier.

In the end, my choice came down to a matter of dollars and sense. By getting the 7510 as opposed to a Deere or a bigger Kubota, I saved a few dollars. A larger frame, more horsepower tractor, like an L series, would be nice at times, but the additional cost for both the tractor and larger implements just didn't make sense at the time. That said, I can see myself upgrading a few years down the road. This was in the back of my mind when I bought, so I was also looking at resale value -- at least around here (Western Mass), the resale of CUT Deere and Kubota tractors is quite good.

Any time there is a roof penetration there is a possible leaky spot. That said, properly installed skylights should not leak or cause problems. I am building a house in Western Mass which has three skylights. I am confident that they were installed properly and won't give me any problems.

My dog Oliver (hence my screen name) was an incredibly well behaved Golden Retriever who from the moment I got him to the day he died chased any and every cat he ever saw. A while back I lived in the middle of noweher on a property with two houses. After Oliver and I had been there for three years, a new neighbot moved in next door, and she had two cats. The first day she was there I told her about Oliver's distaste (or taste, depending on one's perspective)of cats and strongly suggested she not let them wander about freely -- she was unconcerned.

Well, every morning and evening Oliver and I went for a walk in the fields. I very dilligently put him on his leash to walk down the driveway and aross the road before letting him run free. Sure enough, one day a cat was in the field and Oliver caught and killed it. Did I feel bad? Yes. At the same time, I was angry -- where was the responsibilty of the cat owner? She moved away not long after and probably bad mouths me and my dog to this day as she continues to take no responsibility...

The rental company will pick it up and deliver it, for $100 each way. Also, if I get it myself I can rent it on a Saturday and return it on Monday and only pay 1 days rent. If they do it, I can only have it for a business day.

I hadn't thought of loading my tractor onto a trailer -- I'll have to see about that -- great idea, thanks!

When I bought my 7510, I bought a brush hog with it. The pins on the brush hog that the 3 point hitch attachs to were turned to the inside. When I bought my 6' backblade (used) the pins pointed to the outside, so I just turned them around. The other day I bought a York rake and again, the pins pointed out so this time I adjusted the width of the 3 point arms rather than turn the pins around.<br>

My question is, is there a right way to set the pins? Is one way easier to hitch up implements? Right now I have three implements and they aren't set up the same. Any thoughts regarding how the pins are set up or is it simply a matter of personal choice?<br>

It's amazing how far out implements stick out. I almost took the door of the barn off with the loader as I turned too sharp, too fast. My father-in-law came within inches of taking the pant off my wife's Suburban when he didn't think about the 6' blade on the back of the tractor. Also, i put a stick through the gill guard on day one with my tractor -- I was pushing a big pile of brush and didn;t think about looses sticks. Luckily, a quick and easy fix.

More seriously, I was showing the athletic director at work how to operate the L3130 GST we have. I went through everything, I thought, and she carefully put the tractor into reverse and eased off the clutch. As she approached the end of the parking lot (with a hill behind it) she literally stood on the brakes, which did little. "Push in the clutch", I said, which she did, and came to a quick stop. The lesson that was reinforced that day is that driving a tractor is not like driving a car or anything else -- the new ones are easy to drive but still have a tremendous amount of power and momentum which can get one in a lot of trouble real quick.

After much, my wife will say too much, deliberation I bought a 7510 last July. Bottom line is I love it! I'm glad I bought the 7510 instead of the BX -- there have been times I wish I went even bigger, but I think that is just because I have been building a new house; now that most of the serious earthmoving is done, the 7510 will do everything I ask and more. My biggest complaint is the lack of position control. The quarter inch valve works better than a simple up and down control, but if I could add position control I would.

After much struggle I ended up ordering the regular series KK 4 foot blade -- it weighs 55 pounds more than the XB I initially looked at as well as has a greater volume. I hope I don't regret that it doesn't cover my tracks (which are 50"). The 5' blade just seemed like it would be too much for my 7510 -- and the 54" units I found were twice the money (at least).

I'm excited for it to arrive so I can see how well it works. I'll let people know if it was the right choice -- or if it's for sale because I need the bigger one!

I'm glad to hear people's views on this. My brother in law and father in law regularly take my nephew (he is 3) for tractor ride. They are never using implements, but I still worry as one needs to hold onto a passenger with one hand, leaving only one hand free to operate. What if someone accidently drops the loader, the rider squirms suddenly, or the tractor lurches over a pothole or into a hole? It'sjust not worth the risk.

I won't drive around the yard with my son on my lap, so why would I operate a tractor that way?
