Seon, You could have a defective safety switch on the transmission neutral switch or pto neutral switch. You might try wiggling the pto lever and transmission lever while attempting to crank the engine. If starter engages while wiggling a lever, the safety switch on that lever is probably bad. Actually you should start by cleaning all battery terminals and cable connections. Including the ground connection at the frame. Do you have front pto for a mid mount mower? That switch also needs to be disengaged for tractor to start. Do dash lights and/ or headlights work? There is a fusible link in the harness near the starter. It is a white wire about 3-4 inches long with a connector on each end. If it burns out, no lights or anything electrical will work. Then there is always the possibility of a defective starter. If you have access to a voltmeter, you might check for voltage at the starter at the small terminal while holding key in crank position. If you have voltage, but it is less than 10 volts you might consider installing a starter relay that will ensure getting full battery voltage to starter solenoid. I have seen several 50 series compacts have this problem due to resistance in the wiring harness.

George, The only thing that comes to mind is what kind of oil did they use to refill the transmission. The only acceptable oil is low viscosity hygard.
I would hope that the dealer used the proper oil, but you can't take anything for granted.

The fron end sliding should not be a problem under most circumstances. I do think it is even less of a problem if you have ag tires instead of turf tires. They give better traction in snow.

Jim,
You asked i there was any downside. If you do have a loader, you might notice slower cycle times since the power steering diverts 2 gallons per minute of hydraulic flow to the steering valve. some people find this unacceptable especially if your hydraulic pump is worn already. A higher flow pump may be available but I am not sure.

Bruce, yes the temperature light should come on when the key is turned to the crank position. It should not light when the key is in the run position, unless the engine is actually overheating. That feature was put in as a bulb check. If it does not light while cranking the engine, you may have a defective bulb or a wiring problem.

Warren, you didn't mention what model tractor you have, but I am going to assume it is a 4000 series. I recommend using a paint stick to put a mark on the height adjustment knob so you can count the number of turns you crank the knob in. Then when you remove the loader, just back off the knob the same number of turns. Your height should then be exactly where you started.

Tree farmer, Tell your dealer that you need RE72944 Anti-fog Glass Service Kit. That should cure your problem. It consists of treated glass and a new seal for the instrument panel.

Sparky, The best way to check the hoe is to connect a pressure gauge into the circuit you feel is weak. If you call your dealer, they should be able to tell you the relief pressure setting. You might have a defective relief valve.

Bruce, Another thought crossed my mind while reading the other responses. I have seen the air filter clogged so tight that an engine will draw air and oil up past the rings causing it to smoke and burn oil. An easy check but be sure to check if it has a secondary filter inside of the primary one.

Todd, There is really no right or wrong oil fill. These engines are used in other applications where it might not be convenient to reach one or the other oil fills. Just use whichever is more convenient for you. Kenny

Larry, There is a possibility that the steering has a role in your problem. It is not causing the problem ,But it may be worsening an existing problem in the rockshaft. The power steering prioroty valve siphons off 2 gallons per minute at all times, whether or not you are steering. So if you have a bad seal or valve in the rockshaft, there is not as much available flow as before. If you repair the rockshaft , your problem should be solved, although it may not be as fast to lift as before . Kenny

Steve, it is possible that you did relieve pressure properly when you disconnected the loader. If the oil was cold when you disconnected the hoses and then the sun was shining on the hoses, heating them up, the oil expands enough to give you this problem. There is not much you can do to prevent this other than to manually relieve the pressure either the way you did it or to use a wrench and loosen the fittings. Either way , be extremely careful to protect yourself from getting hydraulic fluid injected through your skin. This can be a very serious injury. Also be careful of this if you develop a hydraulic leak in a hose or a steel line.Never use your hand to locate the source of a leak . Use a piece of cardboard to slide along the suspected leak area to find the leak. Most owners manuals contain warnings about this type of potential injury. Kenny

Randy, I have never heard of axle problem on 755. The same axle is used on 855, so it should be plenty heavy. Was the axle bearing O.K.? Do you have a backhoe? There is a history of some axle bearing failures on some machines with backhoes. Have your dealer check for dtac solution # 14869 if you think the bearing failure was the cause of axle breakage. There is a heavy duty bearing and axle available for backhoe use.At 8 years old, I seriously doubt that deere will help you out on this. Kenny

Mark, apparently whoever owned the tractor previously installed the switch for some additional lights or other electrical equipment. Deere never used a switch in this location.

bob, the disks you need are part #CH15329 and they sell for around $25 each at your JD dealer. I know of no other supplier. The relay kit is RE44536 that I use and it sells for about $50. It includes a wiring harness to connect to your starter but the kit was not really intended for this model and needs some modification. If you don't want the kit, the relay alone is RE164448 and sells for about $15. Kenny

Todd, The light should be coming on at approximately 230 degrees. I assume that you are not seeing any boil over out the radiator cap since you don't mention it. although it is normal to need to clean the screen occasionaly, it sounds like yours is a little extreme. Are you sure that the radiator fins themselves are clean? Looks can be deceiving. When the throttle is wide open, you should be able to hold your hand in front of the radiator and feel a large volume of air being drawn through the radiator. Just be careful that you don't get anywhere near the fan! Also , is thye fan belt tight? Is the fan blade and shroud installed properly and undamaged? The radiator may be internally clogged, keeping antifreeze from flowing properly. I think you must have some cooling system problem, because this engine should not be overheating in 70 degree weather. Another thought, the temperature sensor could be bad, or the timing could be out of spec on the engine. I hope that some of this helps. Kenny

Tim, There is a spring under the right hand frame rail that regulates the return to neutral of the hydro linkage. it should have an adjustable eyebolt attaching the front of the spring. You can lengthen the eyebolt to make it less aggressive. It seems that usually these are more aggressive at slow engine speeds. You might want to be sure to try it at wide open throttle before you adjust it. If you weaken the spring too much, it may not return to neutral fast enough at high engine speeds.

You might want to see if you can find spacers to go between the wheel and axle. Check with your dealer to see if deere sells them or they might know of an aftermarket company that does. If all else fails, your local machine shop should be able to fabricate a set for you.
