Hi, just wanted to let you know our experiences with theTZ25 HST with bucket. It just left home again for the third time in 6 weeks for the same problem hydraulic fluid leak )what a mess). We have had it 6 months (purchased new) It has a 60 " deck and mows great but we are getting very frustrated with the service all I hear from my husband lately is we should have bought the Kubota!! The seat broke and warranty is fixing it but it has been 3 weeks waiting for the part. it dents and scratches really easy.

When they picked it up this time we got a replacement TC26
we will try it out while we are waiting It actually looks like a tractor .

If you want a glorified lawn mower go with the TZ. This was the first brand new item we have ever had and so far it has not been a good experience. We has a 1985 Massey 1020 and never had a problem with it. Go with the TC you will be much happier.

I looked at a Kubota L245 DT today. The owner is asking $500 for it. It is in rough shape. It has a cracked head and he left the head off the engine leaving it open and exposed to the elements. As a result, I'm guessing the engine needs to be rebuilt. The steering box is shot, several gauges are broken, a fender is missing, it's got some surface rust and is in bad need of a paint job. He said the transmission works fine and the hydraulics look okay from what I can see. He said it's a 24 hp diesel 4WD. The tires look like they are in good shape (turf tires on back) and the seat is in good shape. I asked a friend and he said I should leave it where it's at. I would buy it and work on it but I have no idea how expensive doing an engine overhaul on a Kubota is. It sounds expensive though. My father-in-law and I could do the work ourselves. Any idea whether it's worth salvaging or is it good for parts?<br>

Has anyone yet found commmon name brand filters in lieu of the factory Cub Cadet hydrolic ones? I think I paid 34 for one of the two needed!!!

gws, once more I must take exception to one of your statements but at the same time MUST apologize for not looking at my pre tractor owning days and remembering how I did things. I too had the same mindset. So there! I feel better now. But all jokes aside with the proper setup and ground speed you might be surprised just how well a field can be made to look even using a regular bush hog. Not finish quality but from a distance one would think it looks quite nice.

Hi all, What engine oil filter (after market) works for the cub cadet 7205? The dealer told me the # is MA 11812303000 but this meant nothing at NAPA. Any leads? Thanks, Greg in OregonPS my machine is back from the shop, new hydrolic pump, runs like new again.

Murf, Thanks for the info. I'm actually not too disturbed, although the down time was long. This is why I wanted a new machine..for the warranty. I'm curious as to what type/specific model number machines you buy (for your business I assume). Do you trade in each year? What type of work do they do? Greg

Gavin, By this time you may well have taken delivery of your 7205. I like it quite a bit. I don't know precisely what made me so compelled to by a CC, but I like how they looked better, the axles were thicker, the weight was higher. I'm satisfied with the price I paid. It is an excellent machine, I can hardly fault it. The FEL is jerky if a high rpm is used so now I don't, also the rear lift hydrolics squeak, I don't like the sound. Unfortunately at 32 hrs. a pump broke and the dealer had to replace it. I consider that a freak occurance. that's why I wanted a new machine...warranty. I very much wanted turf tires and became convinced from the dealer that the industrial were fine for grass. I'm very happy not to have turf, these are much tougher. Also turf aren't good with a FEL. I too bought a large finish mower, although at $1600 I think I paid too much for it. The machine mows well. Have fun, Greg in Oregon

I understand that the FEL for my 2001 year, Cub 7205 works on an 11 to 20 hp tractor. This cub is a 20 horse. The fel is very very sensative, it moves too fast, jerky like, if the throttle is up to 2500 apx. it is much better at 1900 rpm. Anyhow how can this jerkiness or quickness be slowed down? It strikes me curious that some brands sell a lot and others don't. On the opening screen is information about a Kubota. Listed elsewhere are brand sites, JD, Ku..,Yanmar, even those Belarus.<br> I just bought a 7205 Cub Cadet and couldn't be happier. I looked at the comparable model JD and thought the front and rear axles looked flimsy compared to the Cub. I didn't look at comparable Kubotas so can't comment. <br> Why do you think Cub Cadets have modest sales, (or do they) when they are such a fine machine?

I appreciate your replys. I would use the tractor in similar ways you do. I have 40 acres and it is hilly and would use it for skidding some logs, brush hog mow about 10 acres once a year. Grade a long drive etc. I agree 10,000 is too much although it does have a cab w/ air conditioning, which I don't need would rather have a loader. Called a dealer for a price on a new 3340 and was quoted $19,000. I too am knocked out by the sticker shock of all these new tractor prices. If you know of anymore good deals such as you bought or decide to sell yours [doesn't sound likely] please let me know. How did you find yours ? On the web or locally? Kyle, Thanks for replying to my question on the board. Give me a ballpark figure for what your jd4100 would sell for. I am also considering the 4100 4wd with hydro but I looked at the front axle and saw it is small, thinner than the cub cadet 7205 and the 4100 has spur gear housings bolted onto the rear axle outboard ends. It looked weak to me. Lastly, the cub weighs 400 lbs. more and seems to be more strongly constructed. How has your 4100 been? What year is it? Just going by retail, the Maverick chinese made compact tractor is about 1/2 the price of a Cub Cadet, has a larger c.i. engine,but is 2 not 2 cyl. Also the package deals: trailer, mower, box grader and 244 4x4 hp more that 20, is about $10,000. Are they reliable? Are they ergonometrically sound, quality...? thanks, Greg

got a quote for a 790 and wanted to get the "smaller" ag tires so i could get chains on them without taking the fenders off. when i went to order, the dealer told me that JD no longer offers the tractor with the "smaller diameter" ag tires (evidently not enough people were ordering them). anyone know if this is the case? we live in the hills of western maryland and i have trouble getting my old IH up (and down) the lane plowing snow without chains. dealer said i could run chains on just the front with no damage to the driveline. would appreciate any knowledge about this as i know about nothing about these 4wd compacts. if anyone is running a 790 with a front mount 59 inch JD blower would appreciate any comments.
