AC, as I have the TC45D, what filter is it that you use for your Boomer? Mine is due for an oil change soon. And, thanks for the info...I had a Fram filter on my Dodge last time, and I run Mobil 1 in it. The responses I got from others worried me a bit on the use of Fram.

If it were me, and the grass were that high, I would use the brush hog. Unless your RFM works better than mine, you'll have clumps of grass everywhere anyway. You'll probably get done in 1/2 the time with the brush hog, but I guess your final results will make your choice for you.

ONEACE to the Rescue! Thanks...your suggestion was right on, both wires were just hanging from the solenoid, (and, in a fairly vulnerable place!) I plugged them in, not knowing which wire connected to which one, but my hi/lo switch is working again. Thanks for the help!

Dave and Dennis, I have fond memories of your area, I live in Pittsburgh now, but remember my grandfather getting a 50's vintage Simplicity serviced at Haver's. We lived in Oldwick, at the top of a hill, we owned dog kennels, which I think the current owners still have? Moved from Oldwick in 1969...

I looked at both of these myself, as well as Polaris. The Polaris has the best ride of any ATV, and I would have bought one except the DEALER told me how often they are in the shop. Like was mentioned, if resale is important, nothing will beat the Honda. The Suzuki gives you more features for the $$, including independant rear suspension, similar to the Polaris. I ended up buying the Honda Foreman ES 500. I am TOTALLY satisfied with everything but the harder ride. However, I feel confident that if in a couple years, the ride quality becomes more important to me, I can get most of my $$ back on the Honda. Suzuki also has a vested interest in Artic Cat, which seem to have tons of features as well...but I just believe in the Honda powertrain a little bit more, even if their "technology" of their suspension and transmissions may be "old fashioned".

Mike, I bought a Stihl FS80R last week, loop handle (easier to use in small areas?). I had researched many different ones, and a Redmax probably would have been my second choice. Supposedly, this model has the "older" 2 cycle engine, with fewer moving parts (i.e., less likely to have problems) than Stihl's new "4-mix" engines. Although I have only used it once, I was simply impressed...and my arms didn't feel numb like they have after using previous, lower cost brands. Like was said before, tall grass does not easily get wrapped around the head. I bought a steel blade to chop florabunda, but haven't tried it yet. Haven't found a Stihl dealer that will negotiate much on their products, but the price seems worth it in the long run. Good Luck.

I have a Pronovost 5x8 off road, dual axle model that came with my (used) TC45D package; the bed is over the axles. This thing weighs a ton just by itself, very well built. One of my neighbors has a Bri-Mar. He is as happy with his as I am with mine. My only problem is I don't have a FEL for my tractor to load it yet...

Denwood, thanks for the info. I used to visit Quarryville regularly, I used to be a Ford rep, and stopped at Stoner Wade Ford (still there?). I bought 10 of these yesterday, including 3 of the Frasers, and was planning to plant them near my house, which is a south facing slope...I might have to re-think that? I have north facing slope on the property, but out of site from my house, and the deer would make quick meals out of them. I don't know much about the Norway Spruce, which are the nicest of the bunch. Anyone know about their care, and how tall they might get, and how fast?

Damn Gander Mountain....they HAD to put all of their treestands on sale, 25% off! Now I am looking at a double ladder stand that I can take my son with me (even off season) and "hunt" deer, turkey, etc. This might be better than getting him a gun this year anyway.

Here's my 1 1/2 cents...can't afford 2 cents. I was a buyer for a large sporting goods store. When Walmart's started moving in to our markets, they changed everything for us, we had to go upscale in many of our departments, and had to decrease the # of categories we carried, since Walmart effectively "killed" the category. They would sell a $200 retail item that we made 10% on, for $1 less than our store, with our ad prominently displayed. Sure, we probably pay less for many of the goods we buy since the Walmarts, Depots, etc. have come in to prominence, but, when is the last time you got the same level of service, quality, knowledge, etc. at Wally-world as you used to in our small businesses? When everything comes down to price, service and quality will suffer. I started this thread to discuss what may happen when K-mart and Sears begin to follow this trend. I hope they can differentiate themselves enough to offer us a choice, and possibly a higher quality and higher service level than what we have come to expect at Walmart, etc. I wonder if K-mart chairman Edward Lampert reads Tractor Point?

Just a followup...I've got 3200, mostly highway miles, no trailering yet, on my 1500 Quad cab Hemi. I've tried to watch my heavy foot...a chore with 345HP under the hood. I live in SW PA with rolling hills. For the last 1000 miles, I've averaged 15.7 MPG. I can't be too disappointed with that.

AV8R, hope you have as much luck with the '01 as the 86...you mentioned before about the door handles...I have the same thing happening...and VW USA's response to me since I have 93K miles is pretty much "too bad"...(when I called about their design of the trunk latch...PLASTIC!)

I know some of you have TDI's...lately, ALOT of "little" plastic stuff (fuel door latch, trunk latch, cup holders, etc." have been breaking lately, and the dealer doesn't believe in Vaseline, if you know what I mean...now my fuel gauge reads FULL constantly...if only it were true...any ideas? I hope I'm not stating the obvious...you did try to raise your LX5 before backing up? Is there any way of going FORWARD? The pics must not do your situation justice, it sure seems like with the differential locked, you could pull yourself out, especially with the weight of the LX5 in the air...good luck!
