I think thats quite a package and a good price. Sometimes there is more in a package than what we need. That often makes it harder to see the full value of what is there. If you don't need it all, it might not be the best for you unless you feel confident enough to sell what you have no need for.

1stjd, don't knock JD too much. I tried the imatch and took it back. I have 4 implements (one is a JD brand). The only one it would work on was a rear blade by Midwest. I've found the telescoping draftlinks to work pretty darn good.

Thanks Art, the wheels turn smoothly when they are in the air so the bearings must be o.k. but when I turn the drive shaft yoke on the differential there is a spot were it is stiffer to turn. I think I'll bite the bullet and send it down to the dealer, besides I hate the smell of that gear oil.

While I was in the service stationed at Ft Eustis and then later at Ft Bragg gained some freinds in Sea Level and used to do a lot of weekend partying there. We would come in in the morning and go empty the nets for my freinds dad, get to bed about 10:30 in the morning and get ready for the next nite. Used to do it about every other weekend. It was a lot of fun back then.

Just talking with another freind last nite, he gets ten plus with the hemi for mileage. He just got his two weeks ago and only has the first tankful done. Says it does pull his boat better then his old truck.

A 7.5' hoe is pretty big for a compact and that sounds like very good advice.

I'd be thinking of replacing it. The one in my Ford parts manual looks like its not intended to be repairable (at least no internal parts are diagrammed). That doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be taken apart and cleaned but I'd have to look at my valve to see if it looks like it comes apart.

Avoiding forcing the level is a very good idea, and it does sound like the valve should be removed and inspected and cleaned. I'm assuming that it is removable from the tank. Many of piping fittings on tractors are fairly generic so there's a good chance a part could be adapted.

I believe what you are reffering to is that you can show a loss on your equipment and investment for three years but you are expected to show a profit in five or you will likely be audited. If you are takeing right offs or deductions on buisiness expenses for those first years the govt is looseing $ on you. If it is a legitimate buisiness expense they expect you to start paying taxes on those profits or capital gains. This is too prevent "buisiness" expenses, wink, wink from occuring. Anyone takeing theese sort of deductions or planning on purchaseing or doing something along theese lines should have a long talk about your exact plans with a Certified Accountant. Most are very reasonable, In fact most are a downright bargain for what they charge compared to other professions.

I was pretty suprised at what mine would dig into. I dug into clay soil this spring for a landscapeing project. I guess its a matter of expectations. I am still compareing to a shovel and wheelbarrow. lol. Mark is right though, even with proper ballast it is easy to put this baby on three wheels. The FEL has surpassed my expectations on this machine and I have to remember to be cautious as it will easily do lift a lot of weight.

You are right Mark Wire is easier IF evry thing is set up right. Maintenance is higher on wire, gotta rent tank for arogon/co2 mix, can't weld outside in wind, metal has to be perfect clean...

Stick with 6011 you can weld old rusty junk, nickel and weld cast, 6013 on clean metal makes a purty bead for finishing a sloppy weld, 7018 is good for most every thing not mentioned above.

The smallest dia rod works best in the cheap stick welders and multiple passes are ok since I am not in production work anyway. The little buzz boxes will burn 1/8 rod ok but me thinks it is a little much rod to keep a good stable arc for the lenght of the rod.

Yeah, well that stuff about great minds must be true :)

I really like these "best weapons for self defense" conversations. You get more answers, from a sling shot to a howitzer! I don't tink any of them are wrong or right as long as YOU'RE comfortable that you can defend yourself with it.

Let's face it a guy who can hit you with a 22 is better than a guy who misses with a 50 cal. For me I don't feel comfortable with anything less than my 10 +1 380 cal. or 5 shot 38. I shoot pretty darn well but not good enough for anything less, after all "a man's got to know his limitations" :( Actually I choose the Glock 19 to carry daily, even though I am thin it really conceals very well and I like the extra margin for error. ;)

On another note-

Still waiting for that JD 790, dealer said yesterday he was billed by JD so it should be there pronto. He said once they bill him they are on the way.
After all this wait and knowing myself I'll probably blast out all my tractor work in a week of 18 hour days and then start in on my neighbors property! My buddys starting construction on anew house so I am trying to talk him into saving a few $$ and letting me help him do the finishing landscaping. He's an electrician and does me favors all the time anyway so I figured why not plus the contractors don't seem to do much more than throw some seed around.

parking brake pawl and petal worn /brake doesn't hold well for 7 series hoe work.
battery hold down braket coroding/excessive corotion on battery posts.
called dealer for warranty work,explaned corotion issues and said the regulator might be overcharging the battery they have two sizes 20/35 amp hr
1. replace battery with vent tube type 2. replace regulator
3.replace battery hardware

Word is that the dealer was not passing funds on to Deere. A typical tactic when you have a cash short fall. Another Deere dealer is going to buy it out already so it must have been a profitable dealership at some point. They started adding tractor trucks lately it became a bit like trying to cover all the bases. You tie a lot of money up in stock with large trucks. Most are custom otders so?

The 2410 wheelbase is 6 inches shorter and the tractor is 300 pounds lighter.

The gross HP ratings are the same but the 2410 is rated at 18 PTO HP and the 4115 is rated at 20 PTO HP.

The 4115 has a slightly larger engine, 73.22 cubic inches versus 68.5 for the kubota.

The 2710 matches the 4115 wheelbase, PTO output and weight very closely.
