I believe slip clutches are to be put on the implement, brush cutter, tiller, are such.

a box blade is much stronger than a regular blade plus having the teeth it will dig the high spots up then the rear of the box catches it and drags it where you want it. there is also a front and rear cuttin edge, plus the heavier blade aids in leveling. mine is a frontier BB1060. payed $200 part of the deal when I bought my tractor, could have got any imp for that much except loader when buying tractor when I got mine.

plots1, those look pretty darn good! It looks like a good and simple "first welding" project. My brother is visiting next week and he does some welding so I'll have to pick his brain. Thanks for the incentive!

In regards to all the different numbers you have received as far as amounts to apply you might consider a soil test. Theese are isually pretty cheap ($10 ish) at your local soil conservation district office or the appropriate branch of a State University. Here Michigan State does it. You get back a pretty slick print out telling you what to use in what amounts. Fall as well as spring.

I checked my TC45 last night and one of my fan blades is broke in half and the others have black on the tips from the shroud. I think my waranty was up 2 months ago so I'll have to see what the dealer says.

In many states, it is your responsibility to disclose and pay the sales tax for items where you paid no sales tax. That includes mail order, internet sales, and items purchased in another non-taxing place while living in the taxing (home) state. I am sure that we all do this, so there is no reason to beat this to death.

The reason that the Internet and mail order have so many legislators concerned is that they cannot regulate businesses outside of their states and don't get records of tax payments. With a filed lein it is a different matter, as Mark says. There is a paper trail to a potential untaxed purchase.

It should also be noted that not all notes are secured by the tractor. Even if a tractor was purchased, the borrower may be the responsible party even if the tractor is no longer available. This comes into play with theft, destruction, and other occasions where the "collateral" may not be available or worth the debt amount.

That is a interesting observation on small 8 inch buckets clogging up with wet soil. I had the thought in the back of my mind that it might happen but since nobody said anything about it and with me only having a 12 bucket that has never clogged, I didnt say anything about the possiblity about it. Good solid advice to anyone considering a small 8 inch bucket nontheless.<br>

Billy,

Are the angles 10,20 and 30? It's difficult to see on my monitor. But if they are it looks like the grade is calculated wrong ... should be 17.6, 36.4 and 57.7.

But having said that, depending on that surface our little compacts should back right up any of those. Looks like they may have some anti skid stuff on there, hard to say.

First of all, good for you, go for it.

Good choice on buying a heavy duty quality implement too.

Now on to the dry advice section.

The GPS is excellent for certain tasks but working on a slope with equipment is a situation where you want to keep your eyes on the task at hand, not an LCD screen. Use the GPS unit, or just a couple of lengths of rope for that matter, to set out 'Batten Boards' (or stakes) at each end of the runs you will be making, you start at one and aim for the opposite one to keep yourself online with each pass. That way you can concentrate on your driving.

One tip I have for you is to start the whole operation by stripping off any topsoil there is and piling it off to the sides, you will want to put it back on top of the finished product, no use buying what you buried earlier.

The other idea is to strip as much soil as the box will hold then pick it up with the loader, assuming you have one, and get a second box full with the blade, this will speed up the task considerably. Also, if I remember correctly you have pretty stiff soil, if your box has scarifiers, use them first, it will make the scraping go MUCH easier and faster.

Don't be afraid to ask even the smallest question, and most importantly, BE CAREFUL.

Doc, they don't use it on all. It is most used on lawn mower type tractors. Many gas engines fans on lawn mowers do it as well as the water cooled engines. It does help but there is no perfect solution at the right time of the year. It is rare to plug this type system even with eight straight hours of mowing but it does happen.

There are a couple of companies that make JD QT - to - standard skidsteer (Bobcat style) QT adapters. I believe they run about $500. The adapter goes on and off of the JD loader frame as fast as any JD attachment. But once you have that you adapter - you're open to the world of skid steer implements - lot's of toys to consider. If you're a home fabricator/inventor type - you can even buy the attachment-side mounting plates (about $75) and weld that up to about anything you can dream up.

That was my thoughts on the 2210 loader before I bought one. Trust me they will move more than mulch. I have moved some pretty substantial rock, dirt, clay etc. with mine. I personally like the 4115 as well but in my area the dealers I spoke to recommended staying away from the 4115 just because it is not a very popular model here. I have never seen one at any dealer in my area. In defense of the 4115 I am not positive but I think it might be a one piece tractor frame Vs the 2 piece Garden style frame of the 2210. It is also heavier. They are both nice machines but I am very happy with the 2210.

Time for an update on the new well!

The yard is now all backfilled with "second quality soil", seeded, rolled, and hayed/strawed over.
I commented to the guy seeding and rolling the area about how nice it was to see it all closed up again. He, being quasi close with the owners, agreed. Soon after, he left.

About two hours later, as I was walking my dog up the street, I saw one of the local propane delivery trucks approaching the area. Still being only 100-150 feet away, I saw the tanker, back-up into the yard that was recently finished.

I thought to myself, there ought to be some good ruts left when he leaves. Turns out, that was the least of the problems for the truck driver.

As he has delivered to this address for several years, he was quite familiar with where he needed to place the truck for filling. The only thing was, he never realized that there was a two foot high well casing, now sitting at the aft end of where he usually parks.

To hear the sound of the heavy steel frame bumper on this tanker back into and push/bend the newly installed well casing, was a sound that I won't soon forget! OUCH!!!

It is not that much of a filter Mark, just a cintered bronze cartridge that the hyd. oil flows through. It did catch quite a bit of trash as I saw when I cleaned it out.
