I looked at both of theese tractors extensively before decideing on the JD2210. This machine was only a couple dollars more than the Kubota of which this model has a lot of fans. In my area I just could not find a Kubota dealer worth a &*%$% ! I will admit I had to do a LOT of driveing and get outside of the greater Detroit area to find a decent JD dealer. I did have a defective PTO shaft. The dealer was able to get JD to priority ship one from Japan so I was down two weeks but overall I am very satisfied with their service and the tractor I love. The only Real difference to me was the comfort of the controls and ease of use. Ultimately between theese two machines in my minds eye the deceision could be based solely on which has the best dealer in your area.

Hi again, I flushed out the tank and filled with new fuel but still have the same problem. The engine spins fast with a fresh charge on the battery and I've got the glow plugs good and hot. It is a gravity fed system and I haven't been shutting off the fuel switch at night. I start bleeding at the injector pump and finsh with the lines. I blew the fuel filter out with air so it should flow fine. I should add the the long block is a fresh rebuild. New injectors, pump, etc. Tom, your suggestion of a cold start problem sounds right on time. Now that I think about it, when it finally does run it's only after I've been spinning the engine for awhile and bleeding the lines. I'm going to go spin it a while and let you all know what I find. Maybe I've been barking up the wrong tree !

Your price is a bit more than Michigan but that seems to very by region. Prices seem very high in Wisconsin as well. Its a great machine though, I love mine, as soon as I start it I forget about the price :)

I am in your area and Completely agree with Mr.Wurm. And In that order. All three have better than average priceing and Great service. I bought from Greenias in Almont, Very friendly and helpfull. All three are serious standouts from the rest of the greater Detroit area.

True enough MarkL. Turfs do reduce pressure per square inch but they also add more square inches. Ags on surfaces where the lugs don't sink in put higher pressure on the ground but there are fewer square inches in contact. Floatation tires are even more extreme than turfs and they don't have much traction at all. It probably would take an engineer to calculate coefficients of friction and those would be different for different surfaces.

I think the main thing is that the tires should be the best the match for the work that has to be done. A case for any type tire can be made and they'll all have problems in some jobs but they'll be different types of problems. Part of what tire works best probably is which sorts of problems an operator is used to dealing with.

I don't think there's any question that ags have far better traction on surfaces where the lugs sink in and that would apply to sliding down hills as well as plowing. I imagine farmers use ags because they do a lot of heavy draft work on soft ground and they don't drive on lawns much. They also are the ones that talk about tire chains for snow plowing.

I don't need chains myself although it's true that I mostly use a blower after the gravel freezes. I don't have a comparison but I believe my turfs are better than ags on ice. My box scraper is a bit oversized for the tractor and traction is only a minor problem on the packed drive. Wish I had a comparison I don't know if ags would be better or not. I've wished for ags sometimes but overall I think the work I have to do goes easiest with my turfs.

I would strongly consider the 4115 if you ruled out the 2210. I believe it was Mark who pointed out the frame differences in the past. The 2210 and the 4110 are if I remember correct the largest garden tractors ( 2 piece frames) and the 4115 is the smallest with a single piece frame. You might want to consider this when your price diffrence should be less than $400.00

I used my 2210 to dig into the clay soil I have at home for a landscapeing project this spring. Not the fastest for digging up a raw clay soil but it did get the job done. I have a 50" bucket.

Stop capitulateing and just get the one you like best, after all it is YOUR tractor. I like the 790, but hay, that's just me. Buy one already and feed those deer !

Karen, I have a 2210 with FEL, a LOT smaller and every time I use it I am VERY thankfull I bought the FEL. To me the only difference between green and orange is Pedal placement/controls on the cockpit and weight. Price difference is nominal. Warranty/service nominal as are financeing options. On the financeing JD AND Kubota have NO competition. Both good machines. ALL very capable of handeling a FEL. Try a different dealer or better yet try several and take test rides especially if you have never owned a tractoe before.

Putting the assembled FEL on the tractor takes about three minutes. I can not imagine that the saveings for installation could possibly be worth the effort. Here a FEL is about 2k. It seems like a lot of steel to lift to save a few $.

1) If you fill from a commercial pump to clean plastic can then there is little need as the fuel was filtered at the pump. If you have your own pump then normally a inline filter ia added. There are a couple of filters on the tractor so it is to prevent water and other contaminates from entering the tank.
2) Diesel fuel can last indefinately the main problems are accumilation of water and bacterial degradation.
3) If they are plastic and air tight it is not a problem as the plastic will not allow moisture to pass. Moisture accumilates from the air and the cold metal on the can.
4) This can work but you need to be careful as there is a lot of water that can accumilate in the tank. You also need to know if you have #1 or #2 in the tank. In areas that switch summer to winter this can be a problem as you may still have a years supply of the wrong fuel for winter use.

A rear hydraulic valve controlled outlet is very handy. A post hole auger is my only implement that doesn't use a rear outlet, and some people buy augers with down-pressure kits that need one. Most things these days have some sort of option available that needs a rear valve controlled outlet. They are very handy. My forklift needs two rear outlets and I have to steel my loader bucket valve to use the forklift. The PB kits for hoes and other implements with their own valves is something different.

The term 'three-way hydraulics' is a bit ambiguous. The term often means the number of connections of a valve to the hydraulic system. In the context here it probably means a three spool valve assembly rather than a standard two spool valve assembly for a loader. A price of $1850 does seem a little high since additional control sections can be purchased separately form many valve assemblies. However, I probably don't appreciate the problem since I don't have a joystick linkage. What you should expect for a factory option is high-quality, convenient operation and something that's specifically designed for the tractor, so maybe it's worth the price.
