Thanks Tom - The pictures do look a lot like my Tank Port and Manifold. The part that has me puzzled is the loader valve. It does not appear that they rerouted any existing hoses, just added new ones. My next move is to pull the cover from the hoe valve to see which hose is the inlet. The one coming from the loader valve (which I think it is) or the one from the manifold. I'm guessing the manifold is not under pressure and would be the return, therefore no harm will come to the relief valve? Todd

Before you can comment on a unit's hours showing on the hour meter, you need to know what type of reading it is. If the hour meter is electrical thats one thing, but if it is a mechanical type then it only records the hours based on the engine running at PTO speed, if it spent a years time puttering around idle, or close to it, then it would only show one hour for every three it actually ran, and it could really be closer to 300 hrs. a year on the machine, not 85. If you consider a nursery type environment where a machine may only be run long enough to pick up a few plants and hoist them onto a truck, or scoop up some soil, then "Taxi Cab" syndrome (constant start/stop) starts to apply and you can them multiple 'meter' hours by 8 or 10 to get a more realistic estimate of condition. Especially if the level of maintenance was lees than desirable for the conditions. Using this theory the machine would have the equivalent of 11,600 to 14,500 hrs. on it, the equivalent of 680 to 850 hrs. per year, considering the seasonal nature of a nursery this sounds about right.

I have never balanced them but know of 2 ways that will work. Weigh them and compare the weights, or make a simple balance beam and hang one on each end. Simply grind some more off of the one that goes down until they hang level or close to level.

I'd have to disagree with the saleman. Both uses identical implement models. Yes, the 4310 is 4 hp more and can upgrade to operate a front blade (not avail on 4210), a larger front loader (model 430 lifting capacity is 158lbs more than model 420 that the 4210 is fitted with) and a larger rotary cutter but other than these, both uses the same implements.
Next time you're at the dealer, ask for the 4000 TEN Series pamplet that gives you the specs.

I had a 44" First Choice with my BX2200. I wouldn't want any more tiller. Several times I would bog it down. The Georgia clay is very hard at times.

Pallet forks on the FEL are very handy indeed, but for smaller branches they leave too much behind or drop it along the way as you move them.

Manure forks though have many long narrow tines and they are close together, you can even dig in a little if the soil is light and loose in order to sort of rake the area picking up branches but leaving soil behind.

Have a look at the different styles one of the local manufacturer (one of the biggest in N.A. for such) make.

I just went thought this same thing. I went with the B7800. I didn't think the extra money was worth the 2910 features. Also their was a B7800 sitting on the lot and I go a good deal on it. I personally didn't like the JD. I didn't like all of the electronic PTO and hydrostat items. I was worried about long term durability. I also didn’t like the fact that both PTO’s have to be on to use the middle one. The JD was also a little larger than I wanted. If you want a larger machine then go with the JD. I also looked at the NH 33D. It was my second favorite after the Kubota. I like the clutch on the Kubota and the NH. The JD doesn’t have this feature..

The job Murf and I have been describing is the biggest possible job--assuming that the entire 200' slope is a 12% grade and that run-off is a problem.

The job becomes smaller and may even be 'Bota managable' if the object is more of a landscaping idea where the entire slope wouldn't be terraced. Same issues apply though and it may be good to have gone through the big job issues even for a modest landscaping idea. Everybody here likely would be happy to talk more about implement use.

I am uneducated on the Mahindra, but since my last post I purchased the B7800. This was my first compactor/tractor and so far I think its great. It has far exceeded my expectations. I have put about 30 hours on the machine so far (mowing, discing, building). My couple acres of lawn looks fantastic and I was able to mow (with ease) areas that I thought would require a brush hog. I did opt for a front end loader which has allowed me to build a hand full of jumps on my dirt bike track (some of which were on very steep terrain). It is somewhat addicting making my ideas come to life. I have no complaints so far, but time may dictate otherwise.
You mentioned really liking the Mahindra that you rented. I bet you wouldn't have any regrets owning the 2810. They look pretty comparable to a novice like me in specs. I stayed with Kubota, John Deere, and New Holland because they were the most well known brands I had heard of and I felt more confidence purchasing along those lines.
My biggest advice to anyone would be once deciding on a model--check around for prices. I about fainted when I saved $2 grand for a simple phone call to another dealer.

I've been to 8 dealers. I looked at Kioti ck20, JD2210 and BX1500,1800,2200. Can't find any JD for less than $13000 so far with 54mmm,fel.
Kubota dealer will sell me a bx1800 for 11,300 with fel, 54mmm, 5'rake, loaded tires, back work light. Bx2200 for 12,100. I'd like to trade in my JD LX277 with 30 hrs but no one wants to take it. I like the JD but the Kubota price is good and the dealer is the nicest and closest to home.
Looks like I should just go with the Kubota ? and sell my JD myself.
Any ideas ?

I was quoted a price of $23,960 for a 4310 MFWD, eHydro, loaded R4s, I-Match, DSCV, 430 loader with 61" bucket, model 74 66" inch front blade, and LX6 72" rotary cutter, all set up and delivered. This price includes the $1000 JD discount, but Chief here indicated the dealer should be able to do better so I'm gonna haggle some more. He indicated the loader was worth around $3100 and the rotary cutter around $1225.
