On the general tractors forum at ytmag.com, there are tons of posts in the archives about tire ballasting. In Michigan there are farm co-ops that use a beet juice! It doesn't freeze, is heavy, and safe. A lot of guys use windshield washer fluid, which is methanol. Although it is toxic to injest, apparently animals are not attracted to it and it is not much of a threat to the ground through leakage. Regular antifreeze is attractive and toxic to animals.

Art, it is a used tractor with > 1000 hrs so it is likely that the hoses were replaced. I will have to get my hands on some manuals so I can answer these questions myself. Thanks for the insight.

I wanted to move to a Java Server Page (JSP) provider because in my day job as a consultant I use JSP Olap and RDB data sources, and I was tired of switching modes, and found it easier to build in JSP than PERL.

So I obsessed over where to host, knowing the risks.

Read alot of bad reviews on CWI, but thought the sales rep sounded knowledgeable, more than most. Liked all the stuff I got for small bucks..... Private JVM etc.

I signed up May 19th, shadowed my site using a fixed IP starting last Wed. Then moved the DNS Friday. Lots of problems no www.jplan.com just jplan.com, out of space errors in cgi-bin. ....

Then on Monday my high volume day, they shut down my site at 2PM, No notice, nothing. I called and called, sorry no one can tell you why! But you'll be getting an email in fact its on its way now.

Well next day I get the email. Under Terms of Service you are using too much resource, therefore we have removed all of your access to jplan.com completely. You can't get your files, you can't even do a domain name change. What you need is a dedicated server.

Dozens of emails later I finally get them to allow me to telnet in. So Now I have been down for 30 hours. But they have taken my file write permsissions away and my mySQLdump persmissions away, so I beg for them via email, and wait, finally I get mySQL back but no write permissions, I have to hack by redirecting output to a pre existing file then FTP'ing the heck out of there.

Well I got my mySql stuff out of there it is up running much quicker at my old host. Goodbye CWI

Only problem my current host will NOT do JSP, only on a `dedicated server.

The reason I consider CWI's behavior as potentially criminal is that they advertised Unlimited Transfer .... then if the customer uses transfer above nominal, they claim a Terms of Service violation, that you are using too much of the CPU, but with no measurement given. They then pocket the setup fee and the first month, and you are sent packing. If you are just a novice with a couple of pages on your site, they keep you.

The CWI outfit is also very scam like because they show photos of a massive data center that does not seem to exist, they also give themselves grand titles like CEO@CWI CTO@CWI. I am convinced that the delay in responding to system problems coincides with getting out of their high school classes.

After putting in over 40 hours of transfer work it certainly felt awful to be treated so poorly, and to have been dupped so easily.

OK I have my NH TC29D on order, now am looking for three point hitch attachments. I am looking for lower cost, so for now I will wait for the rotortiller that I think would be best for my big garden and insted buy used stuff. I am found someone with three used at 3 point hitch accesssories from central tractor like <br>used single bottom plow $100<br>cultivator king cutter CV-1-C for $75 (new $150) , NH sub soiler $75, and I<br>not sure do I need all three of these orwhat I need or when to use each one. Soil is hard clay with just a little topsoil. I understand that the basic idea of plowing first then finer work, but of the tools listed above are some duplicates or do they have different applications? Any help would be appreciated. I just got a line on a 1988 Ford 4wd 1910 with loader - bush hog - box blade with good rubber and new clutch. But it needs a new engine. What am i facing with worst case senario of engine replacement - how much? My understanding is that it is a 3 cylinder diesel - parts availability? - maybe New Holland has parts?Thanks<br>Doug

IT'S NOT THE FRONT PTO BECAUSE WE HAVE A MID MOUNT DECK THAT RUNS TO THE FRONT PTO. AND THE SWITCH IS LOWER RIGHT SIDE ON THE DASH. I'M GOING TO LOOK & SEE IF I CAN TELL WHAT THE WIRES ARE HOOKED UP TO.

I guessing that there is a design trade off between tightness and durability. It it's so tight there is no leakage, it may not last as long. A way to distinguish between leak-down in the SCV or in the cylinders is to put a load in the bucket, take the hoses off the SCV and let it sit awhile. I don't know if the 410 loader is one of the JD's with a fast/slow dump speed feature I've heard of. Don't know if such a feature, or the use of self-leveling or regenerative features found on larger equipment would contribute to leak down.

I just put a tin can on the end on my exhaust pipe when the tractor sits outside. Rain down the exhaust isn't going to do it any good. I think one of uncles had some engine problems due to rain with a diesel used to drive an irrigation pump but I don't remember what. The wind from a certain direction blew the rain caps up.

Jeff, I just wanted to let you know how the saga finally played out. After some serious negotiations on my part, and the help of my sales rep, JD has decided to repair my tractor under warranty. I am a very happy man :). It seems that this has happened before, and they were aware of the problem. You might want to keep an eye on your set up. To give you some idea of the hours I've used the mower, I have about 125hrs on my tractor, of that, about 25 are actual mowing hours, and of the 125, the mower has only been on the tractor about 50 hours since it first arrived. Good luck with your unit.

If you plan on using a backhoe go with the B21, it will out dig any 3 point unit in this class and size of tractor. Also think about installing/removing the backhoe, one can remove or install the backhoe on the B21 in less than 10 minutes. A 3 point backhoe will take an hour or more to install or remove plus once installed it will not be as capable as the B21 unit. One more thing about 3 pt. backhoes is most tractors are not designed to run this type of attachment day in and day out and as a result have had their backs broke. Where the B21 can run a hoe day in and out because it's designed with this in mind, it's an industrial type tractor and built heaver than other tractors in this size with a full length frame. A lot of tractors out there use the motor, transmission, and axils as the frame and build the rest of the tractor around it thus creating failure points when the tractor is under the stress a backhoe can put on it.

just got my walco whistler 60 inch hog mower that i purchased from payeur in canada. need i say it, and the kioti, worked great though quite the overkill for my overgrown backyard. cant wait to get into the field grass of my recently aquired orchard and woodlot.

I do about 3 hours of snow blowing every time it snows, a private road and 7 houses. I use a rear mounted blower, they are much less expensive and the work isn't that bad. Use the money you save to buy another implement.
