I'm purchasing it from a local JD dealer in OH.
I was quoted 14,227 for a 790 4wd w/ loader from another JD dealer.

These were both dealers that have alot of large tractor volume (130hp +) so my guess if that they get some decent discounts on the 'small stuff'.

I had priced the same config from a lawn and garden JD dealer ~ 16,000.

You can get a 430 loader on a 790?
I thought the 430 was only for the 4000 series?

I keep my tractor and small collection of equipment in a "soft" building. I use a thick sheet of plastic film to seal the floor. Cheap, esty to put up, easy to move or take down.

You can also increase traction by adjusting tire pressure. My tractor came from the dealer with 22 psi in the rear tires I'm now at 10 psi and it seems to have helped quite a bit. I let air out until the tire tread sits flat (almost) on the concrete driveway.

Most diesels are started by opening the hand throttle about half, pre-heating by turning the key to the left until the glow indicator is bright and then turning the key to the right to engage the starter. Almost all modern tractors are equipped with safety interlocks. They won't start unless the transmission is in neutral and the PTO is disengaged. Most diesels are shut down with a kill switch. Many kill switches operate when the hand throttle is at full minimum. The engine won't start with the throttle in that position.

Mark: That may be true about hoe mounts. I think my hoe bolts onto at least the lower link mounts and may well bolt onto a sub-frame as well. That's something I might think about. On other points: Generally 3ph implements can be put on any machine with the same category hitch. Often pins are replaceable and sleeves are available so implements can be adapted to different categories of hitch. The adoption of 3ph standards by most manufactures is a real advantage to owners because they aren't locked into proprietary implements from their tractor manufacturer. However, hitch standards do not include lift arm widths, and variations do exist. It is possible to find implements that are too wide for some tractors, even if they are the same category. Regarding ground clearance; what you say is true enough on level ground. Most cached hoe buckets are located a fair distance behind the rear wheels. It is very easy to drag the bucket or damage the hoe when starting up, or backing down, a hill.

I was thinking about the importance of matching front and rear tire rolling circumferences, and have some thoughts if anyone cares to discuss.

First, the front and rears will never ever perfectly match each other due
to exact matches are made, tire to tire variation, different wear rates, different loadings, and different tire pressures. This means there will always
be a bit of speed difference. If there is a difference in rotation speed, no matter how slight, then there will be "torsional wind-up" in the drive train.
This torque difference has to be relieved by periodic slippage of one of the tires or else the drive drive shaft would break. On dirt you don't even notice the slight slippage. (I read somewhere that the can't even detect tire slippage until it exceeds 10%). On concrete with high traction it is harder for the tire to slip, but it does eventually.

Second, I don't think any amount of torsional wind-up would hurt the drive train, as it must be designed to take full torque through one axle in those
weird "full loader bucket, backing up a down slope, and there's little weight on the rear axle" situations.

Third, you still want to match as close as possible because tire slippage equals
more tire wear, which is not good.

Lastly, it seems to me that the front axles are usually geared slightly faster so that the front tires "pull themselves out of the way" instead of getting
pushed from the rear.

What do you guys think?

Andy: Were did you buy your TC35D? That a great price been looking though different e-mail on this web site. Thinking of buying same tractor got a few Quotes, But little pricey compared to yours and a few others, I have read. I live in Michigan. Flint dealer- Same tires loader is H.D $16,100& $3995.00 for loader. North Branch dealer- $15,800 & 3650.00 H.D loader NO SS.. Any advice????

I thought I posted a reply yesterday but do not see it. Here goes again.
What would be your guess as to the front to rear footprint of the roller? I would guess 1 inch, maybe 2. If it is one inch times 48 inches wide, that is 48/144 which is 1/3 of a square foot. So 900 lbs divided by .33 sq ft is 2700 psf, or lbs per sq ft. Your tractor tires might amount to 4 or 5 sq ft of footprint. 3300 divided by 5 is 660 psf. I think no matter what the exact measurements are, your roller will put more psf than the tractor.

I thought the 790 was a successor to the 770, but that's just a guess. You would have to have one heck of a magnet to hold to a steel axle through an aluminum housing.

I have a chance to buy a kubota 2150 w/loader and mid pto mower hydro trans and 4wd with 1150 hours on it. the front tires are about 5% with a little crack in one rim by the bolt. dealer wants 10,000.

Norm I would deffintly be looking at a minumum of 6' for that tractor. A little time with you with the 5' and you would too. Even to move a windrow over you would want a 6' minumum. I rent 5' tow behind's for behind cadet garden tractors.

I am in the market for a new tractor these are the prices I was quoted. 790 4wd, dual scv, turf tires, mid pto, 70 loader w/ 61" bucket, 60 mid-mower and a 513 rotary cutter. 18,868. 4100 hydro, turf tires, 4wd, valves? , 410 loader, 54" bucket5, ballast?, 60" rotary mower, 413 bush hog. 17,300. 4200 4wd, 420 loader,261 mower, 513 rotary cutter 20,500. all have Hydro. this is my first buy and don't know to much about tractors. thanx, Tom
