I ordered a Brush Brute (BB52) several days for my 35hp JD<br> 4400. The JD dealer is going to weld up a Quik-Tach setup for my 430<br> loader. I would appreciate it if anyone out there who has used a Brush Brute please elaborate on your experience with the BB. I'd like to hear the<br> good, the bad, and the ugly. What capabilities can I reasonably expect with<br> poplar and birch saplings up to 2"? How about juniper bushes? Anything<br> would help because I'm a little nervous about shelling out big bucks for an<br> implement I haven't tried out yet.

Bird, my grand-father was a wise man, wise beyond his 96 years, his favourite saying was "Great minds think alike, but then, fools seldom differ either....." take it as you like sir, but I am the eternal optimist.... LOL... It would seem that our thoughts (and keyboards) run the same direction doesn't it?

I ran 1" Poly pipe to my 10,000 sq ft gargen. I ran three rows of sprinklers, one down the middle, trenched 14" deep so the tiller won't interfere. It comes on every other morning and drenches everything. I've got about $200 in it. We use leaves from the previous Fall to mulch everything, so not many weeds between rows. But I do admit to the water waste. I might add that we have lots of these leaves. I cut them up and vacume them with my JD 4300. We usually have enough leaves to fill a 1500 cubic foot area.

I have a J.D. 413 rotary cutter i bought new when i got my 4100 and I had no problem cutting about 3 acres of waist high weeds and brush.

Someone dealt with this a few weeks ago for those of us with PCs and Windows 98. Simply click the right button on the mouse to pull up a menu and then move the cursor to PRINT and click the left button. Works great for me

dave. the broom is a number 246 front mounted broom. i understand removing the loader. what i really am wondering is where the front pto bracket mounts go? because there are bolts and looks like its a permanent bracket, so does this replace the bracket for the mower draft arms or do i have to always change brackets?

I just recieved my TC35d last week and took advantage of the 0% financing for 1 yr. I'm not sure about any changes as of 3/1/01. Can't beat 0%!
For reference though, the dealer I purchased mine from made the statement that last year they couldn't keep tractors on the yard, last week when I was there they had 3 tc35d's 2 tc40d' several tc33d's tc25d,and smaller ones too. And that was just what I could see, there may very well have been creates of more tc's in the back somewhere. I would think NH/Kubota/JD would be getting hit by the economic slowdown too when it comes to these compact tractors.

I have a JD4100 for close to the same situation. Get the JD4100 with loader, or whatever Kubotas equivalent is. I don't think that you will be sorry. I mow about an acre, clear trails on the other 4 acres, plow driveway and 1/2 mile of private road, move dirt for all of my wifes landscaping project, haul firewood, and anything else I can think of doing just to play with it. I bought it, because I believe it will be around for 30 years if not longer. So even though they are pricey, I figure in the long run it is worth it. These tractors outclass the garden tractors. The difference is night and day. A 20hp garden tractor feels like 2hp next to a compact with 20hp.

Agree with Mike S. I use my 4400 primarily on turf but also on hard surfaces such as concrete and macadam. In 2WD the old axle would leave heavy (I mean **HEAVY**) rubber on these hard surfaces whenever the wheel was moved from straight ahead. It was worse in 4WD. I really think that the folks who continue to use the old axles will experience accelerated tire wear. Tires are not cheap. Kudos to my dealer who worked very hard to get me a new axle in minimum time. Kudos to this board for being instrumental in pressuring JD to acknowledge their error and replace a poorly designed front axle. Russ

I installed the 3rd SCV kit ($220.00) on my 4400 in about 5 hours. To adequately access the j-tubes, the seat and cover plates must be removed. A problem which cropped up was that most of the control handles are press fit to the controls and once they are removed they don't fit as tight as they did. Be sure to check the parts bags thouroughly - I got shorted 4 o-rings which held up production for a bit. The instructions and diagrams are adequate but not up to the standard of JD tech manuals. Althought the SCV lever and control line are a Rube Goldberg affair, the plumbing is well engineered and installs easily. I am very happy with the 3rd SCV unit. Good Luck. Russ

I too went through the insurance questions both prior to and after the purchase of a B2710 with FEL. The funniest part was the fact I just changed to an "estate" policy to cover a horse, loafing shed, fencing, liability related to the horse. I also asked about the tractor. On the estate policy if I used the tractor to mow, grade my drive, move heavy objects, clear brush, plow snow I WAS covered under the current policy as written. The funny part, get ready, if I used that same tractor to move horse manure from a pile to the garden I now needed a specific line item with a stated value for tractor coverage! $168 more per year to do "farm" related work. Further investigation lead to the discovery that since the electric fencer for the horse fence is inside my pole barn that it too needs a seperate line item and a stated value for coverage. $300(saved) later I too have the same letter that Donald has. I still LOL each time I think of that first agent qouting the policy to me.

Hi Frank, I have owned a TC35D for a total of two weeks and no recalls yet. It probably takes longer than that for the paper work to catch up. So far it seems to be missing a few features that the John Deere has and also has a few features that the John Deere is missing. I liked the loader control better on the Deere but the Newholland has a range selector option on the loader control. The Newholland has a better seat and cruise control but the Deere has better hydro pedal control. Just my observations so far. Others will probably disagree.

I'll give you my 2 cents. I owned a Shibuara SD1840 for 4 years. It was a very good tractor and I never had any problems with it. However,I traded in for a used Cab Cadet 7275 this last year. OK why?. Well the greys are good tractors low hours etc, but parts (and can you really get them) became a big concern for me. Yanmar has by far the best network for getting parts but they still are not US tractors(they did sell in US for a while in 80s)and the numbers which you have listed may be tough to get parts for. You may also want to consider resale value as well. I did try to sell my Shibuara on my own but could not move it. People were scared off by the unknown brand. Shibuara make Fords but most parts are not interchangable as some would lead you to believe. I know, I did the research(and lots of it) AFTER I bought mine. The good news is that for the most part these tractors run great and I think you will find very few people that own one really haven't ever many problems with them.
Personally, I ended up trading it back into the guy I bought it from for the CUB because I needed a bigger tractor and the bigger greys just weren't that much cheaper than a domestic when you came right down to it. Plus, I wanted power steering, hydro etc. Most smaller greys dont'have that. Depending on how much money your talking on these tracotrs your looking at, you might find a excellent late model domestic compact for not that much more money. Any other questions let me know.

I called my dealer and John Deere regarding what I considered excessive corrosion in a short time on the battery of my 790. JD, of course, knew nothing about it. My dealer said it was happening to 790's on his lot but JD had not given him a solution. Last Friday, my dealer called and said to bring in my battery and he will replace it with a better one. Apparently, JD had contacted him and said they ARE having problems the 790 batteries and replacing it with a different model seems to fix it. I'll keep you guys posted.

Re trading off with the wife; when my Ford 1910 appeared in the drive (brought and delivered by a friend from an auction), the wife walked up to it and said, "It says Ford, not Steinway!" A few days later a snow blower was delivered and she wanted to know 'what was that insturment of Death". Fortunately it snowed that night and we have a 1300'+ drive and she saw the light! She got her piano several months later.
