We had somebody turn over our garden here in VT twice a year for a couple of years. The Garden is about 60'x120', and Wayne went over it twice. He only charged us $45-50 and a beer, so I can't tell you you're going to earn back your tiller any time soon.
I bought a Del Morino 54" tiller last year. It's a tank, tills to 7". I figure it'll pay for itself in only 10-12 years. Still, I love having it, and can turn over the garden more often. Now we don't weed, we just till between the rows. The ultimate lazy man's weed wacker.

I just bought this unit last week. I don't know where a Dealer is located locally. Plus I had a new spare that was 13 lbs rated and I thought that would be about right, but I wanted to make sure. I order manuals today, operating and service so hopefully I will be able to answer the basic question. Thanks for you reply

Well, I thought I would get back to everyone with my info regarding Great Bend loaders. I have a great JD dealer. He made a trip to my house today with a JD4100 with a Great Bend loader installed (he trailered it 125 miles) so that I could see the install and test performance. The GB220 loader is very well constructed and works well with the 4100. Construction seems very durable, lift and dump times are fast. Fits quite well on the tractor too-doesn't seem like the mismatch I have observed on other aftermarket loaders. BUT, LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE BUYING A JD 410 LOADER INSTEAD, EVEN IF IT DOES COST $600 MORE. MAJOR BUMMER- THE GREAT BEND SUBFRAME MOUNTS TO THE SAME FRAME LOCATION AS MY MID-MOUNT MOWER LINKAGE AND IT IS SIMPLY INCOMPATABLE WITH THE MOWER. I don't mind removing the loader to install the mower deck, but I'm not going to pull the subframe and retorque bolts every time I need to switch. The 410 loader can actually be used along with the mower deck installed (not that I would do this-but the subframe is compatable with the mower set-up). For anyone who doesn't need to use a mid-mount mower, I would recommend the GB loader as a very suitable and economical loader choice.

Just another twist to this other than the price difference, see how much a dealer will allow you for resale on that tractor just by the description. You might find that the lower price might not be quite enough of a discount as the straight gear drives are not the best sellers in a lot of the country.

The tires rated pressure that are on the tires are for guidelines only. I find that do to different manufacterers that you have to take it one at a time. Normally you do need a dirt or snow covered area as well as a concrete floor. First on the concrete floor set your pressures so you have full tire contact. Then go drive the tractor on the lose dirt or snow and see how much tire wind up you get and adjust the air pressure accordingly. You should have no more than 4% lead on the front. This will give you just a slight distortion of the tire tread print. Very unscientific but works great. It should on the concrete allow for easy in and out of the four wheel drive lever.

Ya, I think Johnny ended up with a 54,55,56,57....Cadillac. You might have a hard time getting the loader bucket in your lunch pail though. You are right, sending the 6% sales tax down a rat hole takes some of the fun outta buying a tractor. The prices are high enough without that. As a matter of fact, it made me decide to become an official 'farmer'. I have a few acres and couple cows. Not only did I save the sales tax, the accountant says I can deduct all sorts of things. Fuel, tools, gloves, etc. I am going to lose money like all the other farmers do. It's almost like getting a raise. But back to the tractor issues, I opted for the larger, TC40D as I needed, er wanted a bit larger unit for my 'farm'. Got it with a FEL and a used 3pt hoe. It cost way more than I was planning to spend but so far, I have had lots of fun scraping snow. I use low range with the throttle barely above idle so I don't get done too quickly. Can't wait til spring. Anyway, I've gotten way off the topic but if you're interested in the other reasons I ended up at the TC40D, we can start a new thread. Good luck with your contemplations... I think even if the ramp support was at the hinged point, this would still happen. If the ramp support would extend under the rear of the trailer, here I go again, I think this would solve the problem. Thanks to you all

I think i would check building codes befor installing a floor pit.I believe they have outlawed for safty reasons,gas fumes being heaver than air.Maybe it's ok if you install some kind of ventilation system.Reg

I also have the Allied 195 and so far have been satisfied with it.One feather i would like to have,that i've seen on other loaders,is when your at the end of the dump cycle you can slap the bucket to remove stuck materal.I was wondering if this could be added on an aftermarket basis?

I my area, there is alot of dealers selling Rhino brand. They are one of the best in durablity, but the cost is more aswell.

For anyone who may be interested, there is a John Deere #7 Backhoe for sale on e-bay. I believe the auction ends on Jan. 20. Description says it's in excellent condition and fully assembled. Not sure if it includeds subframe. Starting bid was $3500 and it's located in North Carolina. I already have a #7 backhoe on my 755 and don't think I need another.

Reno! My old stompin grounds. Something about your question sounded familiar to me. Twenty years ago I tried out the magnatracs and dalco machines. At that time the company offered customer lists and even gave a discount to people who wanted to act a reps for whichever machine that they bought. Maybe they still do. I treated it as a quest, and called everyone on the list as well as trying a few of the machines. Darn near bought one several times, as they are available used at remarkably low prices. Bottom line was that I discovered that for every purpose I tried - except one - even the tiny compact 4wd tractors were so much more capable that it wasn't even a horse race. I still like the magnatrac, probably because it is a lot like what I would build for myself if starting from scratch.

I know of OK Tractor in Newton NC, but I don't know about Raliegh. If you find a dealer, especially if they import the tractor themselves, they will have parts. Of all of the tractor and tillers that I have sold, I have yet to have anyone break anything other than a U joint on a PTO shaft. When the tillers come in if they are in too bad of shape they are usually scraped for parts, especially the tines.

Todd: I couldn't get the reply to your message working. But then, maybe I haven't got anything very useful to say.What you describe does sound like an assembly problem. The hitch on my Ford 1710 goes all the way to the ground, and I'd be surprised if all 3ph's didn't do that. Unless the hitch arms can lower, an implement can't float. The blower may be able to be mounted on the level, but as soon as the tractor crests a hill, the blower probably would lift.From the description, some of the rest of the hitch linkage may be out of adjustment as well. However, one easy thing to do is to look for scribe marks on the rockershaft ends. Common practice in disassembly is to scribe reference marks across splined shafts and collars. If mismatched reference marks are present, then you might try matching them up and see how it works. Other than that, I'd get a manual and pretty much go through the re-assembly and adjustment procedures. <br>

Thanks Art for keeping me on track, this is what I love about this board. As I've said before, the sum total of the knowledge contributed herein is an awesome thing. So now Case has a small tractor once again, thanks to New Holland. Next time I'm at my Case dealer to buy filters for my 580 I'll have to check out the new red boomers.

Keith, the pin to pin clearance width on my attachments varies. I have lots of toys. Some worked fine, but others rubbed the tires when transporting in the fully raised position, due to the small amount of unavoidable sway. The worst problem I had was on my 3-point dirt scoop. I corresponded with JD factory rep and was told the best way to eliminate the problem was to reverse the rear wheels. I did this and now have no clearance problems with any implement. I found that I also prefer the wider stance due to the increased overall stability and the additional room to hook up implements. I think that overall I gained maybe 1 1/2 to 2 inches on each side of additional clearance (3 to 4 inches overall width).

Hi everyone,<br>I have a B2710 with turf tires, and the lift links on the 3pt hitch only lower to 12 inches. I just bought a rear snow blower, and have to use the "B" holes in the lift links, which Kubota recommends I use only for lighter implements, to hook it up. <br> I notice that if I fully lengthen the connector that goes from the right lifter arm to the check valve, my hitch still doesn't start to rise until the position lever is at 3 or 4. It rises until the stop on the left arm hits the metal, but doesn't trigger the relief valve. <br> I think that the solution is to remove the snap rings, and rotate the lift arms down 2 or 3 splines on their shaft. I could rotate them more before the arms hit the PTO shield, since right now they only go down to a couple of degrees below horizontal. This would lower the 3pt hitch, and also signal the position control to start lifting at 1 or 2.<br> Has anyone else had this problem with a B2710, or have any advice about this? Any input would be appreciated as I'm hesitant to mess with the factory setup.<br>Thanks,<br>Todd
