Jack thanks again for the pictures they explain allot. Your lift arms have two holes for the sway chains and two for the lift links, whereas the standard arms have only one for each. From the picture I also see that you have the chains in the farthest hole from the tractor which would give more adjustment. Also by being able to move the vertical lift links to the outer hole the lift capacity would increase, though the range of motion would decrease. All in all it looks like a stronger setup than the older models, the ball sockets and vertical lift links look to be cast iron, while the standard setup (mine) is all steel. This all would explain the higher weight rating for the late models. Could someone with the new setup possibly measure and post the dimensions between the center of the inner ball socket out to the four holes? This way I could compare to my existing holes and layout the new holes that need to be drilled.

You should try Curtis at www.curtiscab.com they build cabs as well as blades for loaders and trucks. You could contact them or a local dealer for info. If you decide to go for the Hydraulic angle you will need to have an extra vavle for the angle.

For everyone's information, I received a customer survey from John Deere yesterday, asking me to rate the tractor, the dealer, and a space for other comments. I have a JD 790 and purchased it in May. Has anyone else gotten one? Since I haven't had any problems, except slow delivery of the rear hydraulic outlet from the parts depot, I had to rate them pretty good.

Roger: That's news to me. Like you, I've tried operating several spool valves at the same time, or the loader and 3ph. I get virtually no movement except from the first device on the high-pressure line. I always thought open centre valves worked by 'closing the centre,' which diverts pressure to a cylinder and opens the other side of the cylinder to the return. The effect is to turn the high-pressure line behind an operated spool valve into a low pressure return line. Valves behind the operated valve wouldn't see any oil, except that coming from the low pressure side of the operated cylinder. Similarly, I wouldn't expect parallel connections of spooling valves in an open centre system to work. I think they would guarantee that one centre would be open all the time, and high pressure wouldn't be developed.

I believe that power beyond systems are three line setups where there is both high and low pressure return lines. I think it’s supposed to guarantee that a loader gets pressure, but I don't understand much about power beyond, except that I don't have it.

Anyway, I've been wrong about some pretty basic things before. If I'm wrong about this one, I sure do want to hear about it.

Does anybody know of a snowblade which will hook up to the loader arms. I have been told the loader bucket will come off and the blade mounts in its place. I looked into the Kubota snow blade and the price was almost $2000.00 for the blade and frame. Let me know if you have heard of anything please. Thanks

Jeff, by "some circumstances" I meant just about what you're talking about. If the material (sand, dirt, gravel, etc.) is light enough, and the surface you are on, and the tires you're using, can get enough traction, no problem using a 5' box blade, but if you sink all the scarifiers, try to dig hard clay, are on grass or wet ground, you may bog down and not be able to pull a blade that big as well and find you can get more done quicker with a smaller blade. I bought a light weight 5' blade when I had a 16 hp tractor w/4WD and would have kept it, except their welds broke (on two different ones), so I got a refund and bought a 4' Monroe Tufline that I couldn't break. Now that I have a 27 hp tractor, I went back to a 5' blade. I definitely want the blade to be as wide, and preferably a little wider, than the tractor.

Dave Wells my JD4100 does the same thing. I won't go into the details but I have had a rather lenghty and unsuccessful battle with my dealer to get it fixed. Tomorrow I will call the JD customer service 800 number and see how that goes. I don't know if you have contacted your dealer about you concerns but I think it would be a good idea.

Buy a JD4600/4700 (either one) with the PowerReverser Tranny, a 48 backhoe and a big trailer to haul it. Don't forget to price liability insurance before you embark on this endeavor, especially with a backhoe..it can be pretty expensive and will be required if you are doing professional/commercial work. Figure on around 35K for a package price. I have a 4600 equipped like this and would also in fairness tell you to check out the Kubota L-48 Tractor Loader Backhoe, which is also a nice rig........

Steve, What works for me is a 60 in blower on the 3p and the loader in the front, then i have a 60 in blade that I bought at an ATV shop $160 and made a bolt on bracket, drop the loader and put blade on in a couple minutes, the blade swivals to different positions but is manuel. between the 3 options it does a real good job for snow. gary

Cutter, Just bought 10 gal. of Amsoil ISO 46 Sae 30 Hyd&Trans fluid today. 3.15 per qt. This fluid has a pour popint of -70 below. Look in your yellow pages for a dealer in your area. Or call 715- 392-7101 for a dealer listing near you. If any problems let me know and i can check on it for you. gary

According to the B2150 Shop manual on page S.7-22. The B2150 power steering unit is the same one used on the 9200. My dealer said the entire unit costs about $1400. My power steering just went out. I hit a tree stump, bent the tie rod and now fluid leaks out when I turn and the engine bogs a little. It think I have a bent pitman arm shaft. I will be looking for parts if someone has a salvageble unit

Hey Chuck. Busy weekend, didn't get back to this til this morning. The point I was trying to make is that this country was not, was not, and was not founded as a democracy. The fact that some of us would like to see a democracy is beside the point. By the way if you believe that the the electoral college somehow is 'unfair', then you must also want to do away with the senate. Afterall two senators regardless of population must be 'unfair'. I happen to live in Missouri (via Oklahom), if the popular vote alone elected the president, neither of those to guys would have campaigned in Missouri. In fact, probabaly the only state west of the Miss. they would have visited would have been California. Anyway, the idea the electoral college is somehow obsolete if not true; the college is exactly what the writers of the constitution wanted it to be. The population has gradually altered the system as our preferences have changed; for example, senators were orginally elected by state legislatures. Perhaps the electoral college will be eliminated some day, but it will take a consitutional amendment, and it will be very hard to get smaller states to vote for it.

Cutter: You might have some luck with your existing blade if you put some weight on top of it. Maybe there's an old barbell set lying around or something. Extra weight does help a blade to cut, but there are limits. More weight places more stress on the hitch mounts. The mounts on a light implement probably are light duty, and adding a lot more weight to an implement is inviting mount failures.
