It certainly is faster. I would like to see two things: 1) a bigger window and/or the ability to resize and 2) change the color of the hotlink so that I can determine the last posting I previously looked at - I use the color of the link rather than date/time to get a quick visual indicator of what I already reviewed.

If you are looking to repair a cracked block on an old tractor that does not have a pressurized cooling system here is what I have done. Used epoxy to close the cracked with some fiberglass cloth to bridge the gap. Clean the block real well first than go at it. so far its held over two years, but I'm not using the tractor except to putt around.

I would like to install some extra lighting on my 1520 when plowing snow. I had one rear facing 12v light installed when I bought it new and later added one to the other side. The front headlights aren't that great and the loader sometimes blocks them out. Whats a good option for mounting extra lights, maybe on the ROPS, and the best way to connect to the main harness? I have thought that welding a bracket to each side of the ROPS to mount a light on each side would do the trick, until I knock them off when brush cutting, and putting an in-line fuse / switch so the lights didn't have to run all the time but would come on when turning on the headlights if the switch was on would be the way to go. Does the tractor have enough charging power to run the headlights / flashers along with possible four other 12v lights? Thanks for the advice.

Hans - Thanks for the feedback. I have the standard axle on my tractor. I also noticed that if I hold down the HST pedal with the trans in neutral (I assume this cycles the oil), there is no squealing. I'll try to lubricate that drive shaft better as you indicated and go from there.

Your dump or curl forward has a two position valve. If you move your SCV lever a little to the right it will dump slowly. If you move it all the way the the right it will dump fast. The hesitation you are noticing is in between the two. One of the operator manuals for tractor or the bucket shows it, I do not remember which. Of course I did not read the manual either but went looking after experiencing the same stuff. Yes and I asked the mechanic he knew it. The JD dealer in Cortland, NY has some sharp people there.

I bought a used 1070 with 250 rental hrs on it. I've put another 100 hrs on it in a couple of months but now find shifting to be difficult both between ranges and gears. I understand that the transmission is syncronised but does this mean that the shift between ranges is sync as well. I have asumed that I would need to be motionless to change ranges but now shift in between gears is also difficult. Is it possible to need a new clutch already or is the problem a damaged transmission. I have used this tractor hard but have been kind when shifting. Thank in advance for any input.<br>

Are you saying the reception is good when the tractor is parked and not running or parked and idling. Is this radio made for a vehicle? It may not be shielded properly from interference although there is no spark on a diesel like a gas engine. Need more info.

B6000 Kubota PTO can be adapted to standard rotation and "normal" size with a gear unit from a company called Hub City. The part number is 02-20-01402-022 and sells for around $500 as I recall. The unit bolts onto the transaxle where the 4 studs stick out. If you can't find a dealer locally, contact Messick Farm Equipment in Elizatbethtown, Pa (area code 717) and they can order. I don't have one on my tractor but seriously considered getting one. Good luck!

If you still need info on B6000 I have had one since last winter. Mine has a frontend loader and 5' woods finish mower made for counter rotation. Tractor will do much more work than it should! Used it to dig up a concrete patio complete with rebar and mesh around an inground swimming pool as well as to fill in the pool and do all the grading. Mower will mow up to about 8 inch grass and weeds fairly well--as well as a B1750 hydro. Turf tires can be installed if you buy new wheel for a B6100 and mount the correct size tires. Tractor is much heavier duty than the new BX series but has barely enough power. Has yet to not finish a job I started with it!

Have you tried waiting a few seconds (maybe 5-10 seconds) after pushing in the clutch before trying to engage the PTO? Maybe the friction plate has not coasted to a complete stop before you're trying to engage the PTO.

I had the same problem with my Ford 1700. the problem was caused by the oil leaking past the seal on the lift piston. The oil must be leaking pretty fast for the system to hiccup! it cost about $17.00 to replace the seal. It was easy to replace as the piston is not connected to the rockershaft. The lift cylinder was right under the seat. I blocked up the 3ph and removed the head and then lowerd the lift arms and the piston was pushed right out, replaced the seal around the piston and replaced. I had started reading up about the valves, but when I removed the piston the seal was hard and cracked and just fell off. You tractor is prob different, but maybe this will help JIM

I've got a Kubota 3010 with LOADED R-4's. It similar in size and weight to the 4200.
I don't experience any problem on my turf. In light of the other uses I have for the tractor, I was afraid that Turf tires would be flat in short order and would not offer adequate traction when needed.
Before I decided, I posted and heard from severasl other memebers of the forum who had no problem.
Where I am in southern Ontario, the soil has a lot of clay which makes for hard ground. (We have brick factories in the area.) Also, my turfed area is quite level.
If you will be mowing hills and very soft soil, I suspect that you may get some scuffing and compression.

I've heard the front and rear are usually the same direction, unless you do lots of loader work--and then the fronts are reversed. Now I'll have to go see how mine are set up.

My tractor cut off when I hit a tree stump on the left side near the rear wheel. I found a bullet connector had pulled free but when I reconnected it, the tractor would not start. I replaced the fuse in the first position (fuel solenoid/rear PTO switch). I am now getting the light on the dash to work, but the PTO say's it's engaged. Does anybody know if the sensor on the left side by read drive staft is the PTO sensor? It about 3/4 across, white with a rubber boot and to leads going to two sperate bullet connectors.

My experience with a trencher was with my 36 HP Bobcat and it barely was able to move the trencher beyond a depth of a few inches. My 46 HP BObcat did a better job but it told me that trenchers in particular place a huge demand on the machine. And if you hit any rocks it doesn't work well. I used my backhoe; it was messier but more thorough.

Well, I have a Grand L4310 and I am assuming they are the same or similar (43 HP). Yours new would probably cost around $22,000 so I would say that was in the ballpark. However, with that many hours on it you probably wouldn't expect it to last more than 25-30 years more.
