I have the same problem on a Long 445 tractor. Gnashing of gear teeth is certainly a problem with the engine running, even at a really low RPM. It is likely that your two stage clutch, the stage for the PTO, has allowed the clutch plates to seize together or the clutch is not adjusted properly. Be sure to press the clutch in all the way. Push it really hard. There is the physical clutch linkage that may need to be adjusted to release the PTO clutch or the "PTO" clutch plates clearance may need to be adjusted. Or, simply engage the PTO before starting the engine. It may be a little tough starting if the PTO has a lot of load on it. That works for my fertilizer spreader but it is likely not the best idea with something like a bushhog. You could try a fast move of shutting off the fuel and engaging the PTO lever when the engine RPM drops lower and then turn the fuel back on quickly to "start" the engine. That rarely works for me. I have found that adjusting the clutch plate clearance didn't help. The PTO clutch plates are likely seized together. I did find that when I used an auger in really dense soil the "PTO" clutch would slip a little with the clutch pedal pushed all the way in. Maybe I should try that a little more to let the clutch "slip" and maybe help to free the seized clutch. Best of luck!

I happened upon this very interesting thread. Here we are 17 years later. Where are we today on thises issues?

The UK has had high speed Rail since the 1980's going over 150 mph then. US nada.

If we implement high speed rail it would be made in China as they have the best rail stuff.

Good evening. I have a John Deere 870 tractor that I am adding a loader to. My main question is, where would I get the main hydraulic pressure to the loader valve? I have everything mounted and ready to go but I am not sure how to plumb the pressure and the return. <br>

VERY NICE looking barndo Murf! Nothing like having plenty of square footage for all of your "stuff".

Since my last post on this, in spite of the insanity in wood prices and just in general, we have made good progress on our place. We brought in a forestry mulcher & cleared a path for power lines & about a mile of drive way. It took about 42 triaxle loads of rock to get the base down. We will allow the trucks coming and going to pack it down good before the top coat.

Power lines are in, septic & drain field is in and inspected, bridge is done, and we are waiting for the well driller to get the well in. Holding off doing anymore until the well is done has proven water supply.

Build site has been located and next comes the decision for a walkout basement vs a concrete slab. The wife and I both like the walkout basement.

Duh! Missed the part about forward & rear pedal. According to my TM1895 :

Simultaneous command from Forward and Reverse,

I have had this happen on occasion during operations doing brush hogging in very tall weeds. The thick stems of the weeds can get jammed up in the pedal linkage. This can cause a simultaneous command forward and reverse which will throw this code and the tractor will not move. A quick inspection of the pedal linkages and removing plant debry got me going again.

Well huricane Ida caught me.

Had lifted shingles and a couple of leaks.

Called Homesite Geico Home carrier. Well took a while for them to come out.

But when they did they brought roof forensic court testimony inspector he was on the roof for over an hour and I am so sorry I did not video him. As I am convinced he was flattenting out the lifted shingles to conceal any wind damage.

He produced a 70 page dossier on the roof purporting not wind damage whatsoever.

His photos of the roof seemed to be shot with a lense that made things look a weird 100 year old roof, pretty amazing.

Now I do need a new roof as well. And now the prices are COVID prices, shingle colors are limited to 3 colors. And the prices are about 30% more now.

The above comment is correct, by flushing with fresh water you inadvertently left some clear water in the system. You actually need to add more than a 50-50 blend in order that the clear water in the system is blended in properly to result in the desired solution.

The difficult part now will be determining how much more antifreeze you need to add to end up at the correct ratio. I would suggest you drain as much out of the tractor as you can and then blend that container full of antifreeze / water mixture until you end up with a slightly stronger mix than you need. Then when you pour it back into the tractor and it gets blended with what's left behind a second time you should end up very close to your temperature goal. Drain the straight antifreeze back out of the and use it in the strengthening. Then use any leftover antifreeze water mixture to top up the overflow reservoir.

It's funny you mention that. I bought a few new units this fall, I try to change some units every year, and of course got the usual replys to my ad for the used units.

"What year is it?"

My usual reply is "It's a Kubota, not a Corvette. Are you buying it to work, or drive it to the coffee shop?"

This is usually caused by a worn piston in the pump letting the oil leak past it. Sometimes it is the control valve that lets the oil blow by. As long as it happens very slowly I wouldn't worry about it.
