It didn't work...4WD would not engage...
I also caught a typo I had...It is a new Holland 1715, not a 1710...But I don't think that makes a difference.

I have a 2002 Cub Cadet 3235 lawn tractor. Had one transmission replaced by the local dealer under warranty (with some whining on my part required) early on. At 630 hours it's now due for another one. I will fix it and sell it, but I have only used it to cut 2 acres of grass weekly in the summer months. I don't think it should have broken down (again) this soon. After reading the forums about the hydrostatic trans troubles and speaking with other owners, I've decided to go a different way for my yard. I bought a new 2014 60" cut Hustler Raptor Super Duty zero-turn mower for $4500.00. The build quality is quite robust for the money spent. It has a 3-year warranty, a very good reputation, great local dealer support, and many positive recommedations in my area. And it's fast and relatively quit when mowing my lawn. I know, I know, this is a tractor forum. But this was what I decided after having lived with my tractor for a number of years. Take it for what you think it's worth, but maybe take a look at them before you spend your own hard-earned cash.

I have Kubota 3010 and the transmission fluid gauge cap is broken off. fluid is leaking. How can I repair this? It is the sight glass part taht is broken.

It is tough to say, just what the Amish folk did or did not disturb while "fixing" your orange, as we were not there. Needless to say, at this point in time, there are many on this site that certainly would have done a proper job, above and beyond what you have experienced.
I am going to throw something out there at you. You mentioned that you have a loader. Everything worked fine PRIOR to the "repair" work. Then it studders in the hydraulic action once you received it back, slow at best but with air bubbles (perhaps moisture/condensation).

On the right side of the tractor's engine (follow the hydraulic line from the pump to a cast "Y". This will be a directional shut-off valve. In one direction, it will allow flow to the loader valve, then return fluid to the sump through the other side of this valve.
a) check to see that the little arm atop this directional valve is actually moved in the proper direction . It will need to "point" in the direction of the hose going to the loader. (there will be port A and port B - one feeding out, one return, and is easy to trace thru)

If this directional arm is NOT open all the way, it will be restricting flow, and cause laziness in the hydraulic operations - ALL THE WAY AROUND the tractor.

You mentioned also, that you had/have some small black rubber like chunks on the screen. in the directional valve, sits a small o-ring. As this 'typically" does not get used very much, over time, it will dry rot, and break down...leaving you not necessarily with a leak out, but with a potential suction inwards of contaminants. Additionally, if you are secure with the hose to cylinder connections as being tight, check the loader valve itself for wear as moisture and grime can work on the spools, then slowly working inwards eating away the seals allowing moisture/air inwards. Another spot to check is the boot to the shifter stick. As this is a gear shift, as the boot wears with age, it will dry rot. I HAVE seen on mine B5200's,B6200's,B8200 that are garaged near all the time, that the boots will dry rot and allow grime to work on the seal of the shifter and top end of the tranny casting. This in time will allow a suction inwards as well. Unfortunately, given the location for BOTH the loader valve and shifter seal, they are ideal spots to where moisture (rain/snow the like), can sit and seep in causing weird stuff - such as the little bubbles you are seeing. By the way, that effect if called cavitation, as the pump spins without (in this case hydraulic oil) freely, and churns the little bubbles into millions of baby bubbles and so forth as it circulates through out the system.

If you were to pull the tranny screen, and you were to find a heavy cream or thickness coating it. You would be ultimately starving the pump, and the pump BEING strong, would suck from whatever miniscule opening it could find. This may be a by product of an old trick that was used, and still today used on old worn out pumps to get them primed after tear downs. The "service person" would load a small amount of heavy weight grease into the suction side of the pump, or suction tube. this thickness would then create a vacuum in the system to draw the fluids in an otherwise worn pump system. If, and I use the word loosely, if the Amish reasoned that "the tractor was old", and assumed the pump needed to be primed, this would/could explain the heavy cream if found on the strainer screen.
Just shooting some what-ifs at you.

As stated earlier, the older units are not as sensitive as the newer when it comes to many elements, including the hydraulic oil. If you can change a tire, you can change the hydraulic oil in this unit...it is that simple, just a little messy...the same as pulling the strainer from behind the tire/wheel assembly that you pull off for access.

My father in law owns a Ford 1900 that apparently needs the diesel injector pump rebuilt. Tractor hasnt been started in 5 years. Getting fuel out of each injector but just wont turn over. Changed glow plugs, fresh battery and fuel, new starter at the time. A year ago i found a company online that specializes in rebuilding these pumps. They even had photos of each pump they serviced and i saw a pic of this one. I cant remember the company name. Can anyone reccomend a reliable company that services these 3 cyl pumps. Shibaura engine and pump says Kiki on it. Im on Long island NY but can ship to a company if its a better option. Thanks,Paul

There is a regulator on the right frame rail with a 6 or 8 prong plug that will get dirty sometimes, unplug that and clean it real good. I assume you cleaned ALL battery terminals with a wire brush, the ground on top of the motor could be a problem. Save that module, if you have the HPX any length of time, you'll need it..............

It sounds like I should have listen to the fat lady sing before I bought my kubota from a local dealer.
The dealer has approached me with a deal to fix THEIR problem.
Get this,..... Early this week he calls. We can fix the valve for you. How much, I ask. 300 for the parts not counting the labor. Come on Jeff, I gave you full price and it's defective. Ok, he says. Calls ack and says, ok you buy the parts and we will rebuild it for you. How much is my cost? I ask. 300, he says.
I eventually said ok. Then he says, can you get it over here? Well, I guess I can try., I said.
Then I got to thinking...... Hummmm, he wants me to deliver it, pay for the parts and wait till the cows come home before I get it back, because I'm sure it will be put on the back burner. In any case, I had them deliver it because I had no way of picking it up. It was delivered defective and he is charging me to fix it.
The way I see it, he's not giving me anything but a lost season of spring work around my ranch, a headache and a bunch of grief.
I'm less than happy with my purchase from Mid Valley Tractor in Eugene Oregon on Hwy. 99 and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy anything from them.

Up and down would be great but it's not an option. This area is along the drive and I have 15 ft. width to the property line with trees on the property line. I have probably 500 to 600 ft. with about a 20 degree slope (35% angle) and the remaining 1200 ft. isn't too bad. The Jubilee does just fine and maybe the Foton will, but I haven't felt comfortable on lesser angles with it. The Foton width and the Jubilee width are the same. I'm figuring because I sit higher on the Foton it just feels different and I'll get used to it (I Hope). Larry.

Replaced ignition module and still have the same problem,I have power on the machine but nothing in the starting circuit. Tested eveything manual says to test and all past test, replaced battery. Lights, power lift, wipers, fuel pump are all working, what else could be wrong?

There was an update on early built BX tractors from the original, I'd check to see if yours has been updated. We have seen many different modifications that also seem to be working.

This is probably an easy fix. Remove the tin cover over the shifters. slide the rubber boot up to the top of the shift lever. At the bottom of the lever is a snap ring that holds the ball in the cover that the lever pivots on. Pry that snap ring out and lift the shift lever out. The look down in the hole and you can see the two shift rails that the lever engages. There will be a slot in each shift rail that should be aligned with each other. Be sure the tractor is parked on a level spot where it won't roll. If not securely chock the wheel for the next step. With a long screwdriver or small pry bar. reah down through the hole and pry one rail forward or back to get the slots aligned. SOmetimes a piece of the slot may be broken or cracked that allows enough slop in the rails that gets the shifter jammed, but if you get the rails realigned and then install the lever down into the aligned slot, It should work again. It is sometimes possible to remove the shift cover that holds the levers and weld the shift rails to repair. If rail replacement is required, the tractor needs to be split and rockshaft removed to replace.

Had the same problem. Had my carb over hauled by an old John Deere expert. No it starts ok. The power adjustment on bottom of carb will need to be adjusted the get things working correctly. It may take a bit of tweeking.

Do not know this tractor but sounds like the clutch is slipping. Do you have manual on the tractor? If so look to see how to adjust the clutch linkage and see if that solves the issue. If not you may have damage or worn out clutch for the PTO. kt

Thank you both. It's a John Deere Gator 4 X 2. No cleaning chemicals/solutions were used, just copious amounts of water from the garden hose. Yes, he did 'clean' the engine really, really, good. - Robert
