4WS will not improve traction under any conditions. In actuality, you have a 1 wheel drive mower. Two ways to improve traction; 4wd, or 2WD w/differential lock. Cheapest JD with diff lock is the X500. And standard on the X500 is a 25hp V-twin.

Just wanted to thank you for this thread. I'm just finishing up helping a friend who's wheel/spindle fell off. Turns out that wet bearing/bushing combo failed probably a few years ago, found its way into the MFWD components, pushed things around, wore the splines... you get the idea. The parts diagrams don't really reflect the update to remove the bronze bushing, and the local dealer had no clue about it. So, just wanted to thank you for the clarification and reassurement that I wasn't missing something. The only part not getting replaced is the steering arm... even though the pin's worn that interfaces with the bearing, the ball joint on the steering cylinder is worn to the point where I'm not sure I could remove it without damage. And that is one expensive piece...

So sorry to hear about your dog Dennis. I think you are doing the right thing. My parents lost their dog last week. She was a similar breed. She had a cancerous tumor that was removed. She seemed to be healing but then got an infection in her digestive system and passed. She was like a small child to my mother and father. All you can do is the best you can while considering the pain and suffering of the dog and even then it is VERY painful to lose them like that. Were it me in that condition, I sure appreciate it if those carry for me took into considerate as much has you have Dennis. God Bless.

Depends what you mean by easy. You need a fitting to plumb in to the right place to get the pressurized fluid out, and another for the return. You need two hyd fittings to mount on the rear for your hyd attachment. (You probably want quick-connect couplers for this. There are basic ones and upgrade ones. You should color-code them so you plug the right attachment coupler to the right tractor coupler.)

Then you join the two sets of fittings/couplers, using the right kind of hose, properly swaged to the metal at both ends. Add a bit of fluid to fill the hoses, and you're ready to roll if your pump is up to the extra load.

KT you might try calling Bad Boy Mowers. They are not so big that they cannot make a custom built mower and certainly not a small operation by any stretch of the imagination. In the past, they have made custom made mowers for celebrity customers. Perhaps they can make one for your cousin.

I recently acquired a Bad Boy AOSD 7200 which is there flag ship zero turn mower that is equipped with a Caterpillar 4 cylinder diesel. It is built like a tank but rides like a boat on smooth water due to a bushing suspension system. It can cut circles around my John Deere F525 and the 4410 with mid mounted mower. The Grammar suspension seat is so comfortable.....even more so than my lazy boy recliner that it makes cutting the grass fun.

With 35 hp and 94 ft./lbs. of torque the engine can propeller this 1 ton grass monster upto 16 mph and STILL have a VERY nice cut.

If Bad Boy does or cannot make a custom mower, perhaps they can recommend someone who does.

JParker,

The lower lift arms on the L3200 should easily spread wide enough to make contact with the rear tires.

As Kthompson pointed out, the inner stabilizer arms are more than likely preventing the lower lift arms from spreading to the maximum width.

We had a very big orange cat where we lived in the suburbs before we moved to our farm. He LOVED ground hog. He would go to a cattle farm over the hill from our housing plan and must have raided a ground hog den. Each night he'd bring a baby ground hog home and eat it on the back porch. One evening, he came back with one and almost as soon as I thought, "Be sure to eat that don't let that get away..." He dropped it and it raced to the neighbors manicured lawn and dug a hole. That ground hog stayed in the neighborhood for a couple of years, living under the neighbor's back porch. "Yeah, must've come up from down the hill," I would say...I was mostly right!

I sure miss that cat here on the farm!

2011 Gator with 275 hrs. Has antifreeze leak at waterpump gasket. Also front axle seals at hubs show grease leakage, but boots look ok. Anyone else have same or similar problem?

Dennis, the new plans all have smaller networks, no out of network coverage and some require you have approval by the primary doc to see any other provider. You really have to check on your own if not working an agent license with the different companies.

Expect to see higher, much higher out of pocket most plans are around $6,300 per person per year with most likely higher deductibles and drug copays.

For what I think you want go to Healthcare.gov, select "Individuals and Families" and then the subtopic "see plans and prices". You will do a lot of click to see the information on the plans and to learn what providers they have and the coverage.

Pricing is most likely higher. Don't be surprised if the law does not change to see more companies drop their health insurance totally and let the employees find coverage on their own. If this happens the Federal Governments estimated cost for subsidy will jump. Some believe the push to now raise the minimum wage is to push some off of being eligible for the subsidy.

There will be changes in this law but no way I will try to guess what they will be. But this law does NOTHING to lower health care cost. Even if there is 7 million who signed up there was a higher number who lost their coverage due to this law so the net result is a negative number. I know, I worked this for four full months. kt

I have two suggestions or thoughts might be better.

Good to library and look at the annual review book of Consumer Reports on cars. They have it for 10 year old cars I think or may say last ten years of history. Look for safety and other issues on it. This is from real owners reports and for me has always been dependable.

Second, you may want to check on insurance. This will vary with companies and states but it will probably cost more if house at their school if they live away from home. Also normally older is less on insurance. But my suggestion is have say two or three in mind and have your agent to give you the prices on each one.

Then have long talk with about the dangers of driving and being on their own and pray for them and their parents!kt

An infrared thermometer is a very useful tool when troubleshooting electrical shorts. <br>

Current flow creates creates quite a bit of heat. By using an infrared thermometer, you may be able to find the short very easily. <br>

The next best method is to use the process of elimination. This can be done by removing fuses, which will eliminate certain circuits. With a simple DC voltmeter, you should be able to watch the battery voltage drop until one of the fuses is pulled. At that point, you'll then know which circuit is causing the problem.<br>

According to several dealers I contacted! the zetor zebra 2040 is not a "real" zetor but another chech import . A pretty neat little tractor nevertheless.

I was able to find most manuals online or via this forum... Thanks RL and others. Also got info and a manual on the loader.. No longer made, but some replacement parts still available.

I was able to get parts from Wisconsin engineering, a chech firm which still markets a very closely related tractor. With a bit of persistence you can probably find what you need to keep it going.

MY 2010 gas does the same thing. I have to start with starting fluid. Run fine but will not restart even after warm. Plugs clean. Complete engine over haul about 225 hours ago.

Did you get the delay on the attempts to start? I get exactly 15 seconds before the starter would turn over again. If you were it would be a safety setting in the starter solenoid. That would be a wondrous thing.

I have a JD650 (Yanmar engine) and some of these areas might be applicable. One of the areas which gives me a similar problem is that the safety switch for the PTO handle doesn't always engage. Sometimes I use a screwdriver to make sure that the PTO engage safety switch is being engaged. The other area I have to check it to make sure that HI-LO selector is in neutral and that the gear manual is in neutral. The majority of the time it has been the PTO safety switch.

A few years back I sold a peanut combine which was pulled by and used the tractor's pto for power. I had used it for green peanuts which is harder work than dried peanuts and the person buying it for green peanuts. A couple of weeks into his harvest he called me upset it was doing a poor job and in talking found out he tried to run it not using the std 540 pto speed, was using something like eco PTO or something his JD had. My instructions were simple, you must run that combine with full 540 rpms with plenty of power, must have solved his issue for last heard from him.

Jim I have been in the industry for a couple of years now and there are tractors built in china, there are parts built in china.
There are major companies that builds part of their tractor line-up in china.
The bulk of tractors are not built in china at this time and neither are the parts at this time. I say it that way as there have been shifts towards china as well as india do to the labor costs as well as the cost of doing business. India is actually the new in place.
Tractors the same as most mechanical things are built for a specific life and with that a certain cost of ownership.
Nortrac tractors will fit some peoples uses and job requirements with good success. There are some who need to put more hours on in a year then others as we have units getting 500 hours a year in some jobs and for some make tractors that is 5 years of it's design life.

Many tractors coming into the market place are designed for the average of 100 hours a year which might be high at this point as an average for compact tractors. A commercial operation normally requires more and as Murf has stated, you not only don't make money, you loose it!

To me where we get to work on many makes and models we get to see design flaws, and more including inferior metal choices in machinery. Parts that fail prematurely as well as some that never fatigue or wear out after many thousands of hours of use.

You can't expect the best of steel and engineering and design at the lowest price.
We have many Kubota's that are well past the 6000 hour marks in our area. These are good tractors and equipment that have not let the owners down. You might find it hard to find a Nortrac in that category.
