The majority of the parts that put them together are made in China.
Not until you get into your larger, 100+ H.P.
Just like Ford and Chevy or any thing else out on the roads.
Half the stuff that holds them together is from China.
Even Cadillac is not 100% anymore.
Sorry! That's the way it is.

Injectors can be rebuilt. Have the pressure & spray pattern checked first. Sometimes the solution will clean them if they are dirty.

Issues of this type are usually related to cavitation problems taking place in the hydraulic pump.

Cavitation can be caused by several things, either individually, or through a combination of things.

Air bubbles in the oil, caused by cavitation, will make it nearly impossible for the pump to develop any useful oil pressure. I have a good feeling that this is your problem, due to the fact that your pump seems to be working fine when cold.

Cavitation can be caused by starving the pump of fluid, which happens when you have a plugged sump screen. It can also be caused by using the incorrect hydraulic fluid. Hydraulic fluids containing detergents will quickly foam up, preventing the pump from building pressure. Water in the oil can cause these problems, as well.

When troubleshooting hydraulic problems, many people jump immediately to the pump as being the culprit, but this is rarely the case.

When was the last time you performed a complete fluid and filter change? Are you using the proper fluid? Have you attempted to remove and clean the sump screen.....provided this applies to your tractor?

Last week I bought a used/abused 4WD 1988 Ford/New Holland 555B loader/backhoe with enclosed heated cab, for use around the homestead. It has a lot of wear & tear, but still operates ok. I was pleasantly suprised to find that she has the torque converter drive instead of a clutch. That info was missing from the listing.<br>

I joined this forum with the hope of finding other like-minded individuals that have purchased retired construction equipment for homestead use. I hope I'm posting this in the right section, since she is a loader with wheels ;-)<br>

I used to have a 4WD New Holland TC-25 with a loader and backhoe, but it was just not up to the task of digging in this rocky ground. It was crushed by a large tree that was blown over during a storm.<br>

The first thing that I noticed with the 555B is that none of the guages on the instrument panel are functional. When she was delivered, the battery was low, so we had to jump her off just to get her off of the trailer. The alternator output was not making it to the battery, the fusible link from the alternator was open. I replaced it temporarily with a short length of #10 stranded wire. I intend to troubleshoot and repair all of the electrical issues, but it may take some time. There are so many wires unplugged and hanging loose, it will take time to sort it out.<br>

I don't yet have a service manual, have been looking around for one that I can afford, but I am comfortable with working on things without manuals. The truck driver that delivered it said they used starting ether to get her started... I prefer something safer for diesel engines, so I gave her a shot of throttle body cleaner and she fired right up.<br>

I was told that she was fleet maintained and that the engine was overhauled 2 years ago. Engine oil is clean and the oil/fuel filters were changed less than 6 months ago. Hydraulic oil and coolant levels are good. All grease points are well greased. She fires up and runs fine, though in the extreme cold weather we've had she is hard to start unless I give her a small shot of throttle body cleaner. I think that is related to the electrical issues, ie no operational glow plug.<br>

The most major issues that I have found are some worn out bushings/pins on the loader bucket and some on the backhoe. Minor issues are electrical, missing cab door, a few missing windows, and some rusted out spots on the cab. I spent some time over the past week taking out trees and grading to get familiar with how she operates.<br>

I don't plan to work her too hard, but I did have a need to get something to replace the TC-25 that was totalled. I have been putting off a lot of work around here because of no machine to do it. I rented a machine 2 years ago, a Ford 575E, but it broke down 3 times with hydraulic pump issues. It took me almost a week to do 2 days worth of work, waiting for repairs.<br>

When using the PTO, you advance the hand throttle until the tach needle is at/in that mark. The reason it's less than full throttle is so that you have a little more power underfoot to help keep the implement operating at PTO speed when you encounter conditions that slow the engine down (mowing uphill, cutting tough material, etc). <br>

That mark on the tach applies for all available PTO speeds, that's the way the PTO system is engineered. But a vast majority of the implements made for North American CUTs are engineered to operate most efficiently at 540. Using engine revs lower than that mark may result in your operating too low on the engine torque curve. If the tractor and implement are otherwise matched in size, this causes premature wear and tear on the tractor over the long run. Plus, it then becomes pure guesswork whether or not the implement is operating inside it's own design speed.<br>

Ken when it comes to trimmers I like the straight shaft models. The one I run now is probably 20 years old and other then some ethanol problems a couple of years ago has been flawless. The MM55 has been good and there are other makes out their similar to them although I have found Stihl to be different the quality is always there.

On the saws I'd rather get the pro models as that is what Stihl built it's reputation on much the same as Husquvarna. The home owner saws are the most common sold but I found the power and weight differences to be worthy in the long haul.

I would begin by checking the fluid level. Would think it would be easy to find the leak if you use paper towel and wipe each seal but then if it has not been move it would be the seal above the oil spot.

Good looking Gator there. Life it much better than ours.

Yes.....my fault. I'm trying to visualize this whole thing in my mind and sometimes I forget the layout.

I was assuming that you had a ball valve downstream from your pump. Without a ball valve between your pump and splitter, you won't be able to adjust the power pack's relief valve. Plugging the pressure hose will prevent you from being able to start the engine.....as you've already discovered.

OK.....another option for you. Hold the splitter control valve down. Your cylinder will extend to max length. At that time the pressure quickly begins to build. One of the two relief valves will then begin dumping back to the tank.

No need to shut down the engine. Just release the splitter control valve and make your adjustment. Once again hold the splitter valve down. Adjust your power pack's relief valve, 1/4 turn at a time, until the log splitter's relief valve begins dumping. At that point you'll have the relief valves set properly for normal operation.

I'm not a teacher, so please bear with me. My explanations could often be improved.

Well those rims are going to get in the way.

The key to doing it on the cheap is to have rims that can fit common radial car/truck tires and then weighting the rear end and keeping the inflation pressures very low.

You would have to do a bit more work researching bolt patterns for the rear end..... the fronts might be workable.. and then locating used or cheap rims in the 15 to 16.5 inch range.

If you decide to go that route I can help you match the ratios for the front and rear.

I believe that many of the parts for all of those old Fords are interchangeable. TSC might even have them, if you have a store in your area. A couple of other places that have parts:

Dennis Carpenter (They have all kinds of restoration for Fords).

In our area we have several large salvage yards that deal with those kinds of things. Robberts is such a place in Western Ohio. If you have a larger NAPA store, they also could possibly get these parts.

I found a solution to my problem when Windows would search for updates, but then when it started downloading it would stay at 0% forever. I started by stopping the Windows Update service (in my case the service proved to be frozen so I restarted my computer and disabled the service before it starts) and the Application Experience service. After that I went to the C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution folder and pressed ctrl+a and shift+delete to empty its contents. Mine contained more than 70,000 files so it took a while. I started Application Experience and enabled Windows Update. I let it check for updates and try to download them. It worked perfectly.<br>
Do not worry about deleting important windows files in this case. The contents of SoftwareDistribution is used as a cache and data for Windows Update. When Windows Update starts again it rebuilds the cache repopulating it with up-to-date versions of the files and chewing up a ton of harddisk space again.<br>

Have you done basic tests on the A/C system?

Does the refrigerant line coming off the compressor feel cold?

With someone in the cab and another looking at the compressor, can you hear the clutch on the compressor pull in when the A/C is toggled on and off.

Do you see air bubbles in the dryer viewer?

Could be you have a leak (hose,evaporator,condenser) or bad electrical switch issue, or compressor. Lots of places to be at fault.

You should get a good start by where the drip is showing up on clean floor and the type of fluid it is. Card board box opened up under it should keep floor clean and show up very well.

You may need to clean the motor and transmission before you begin the hunt depending on how oily they are.

Is it just a slight leak with no fluids showing needing added to or do you have to refill a fluid often? kt

That is a good start. We often find a weak connection with the wiring is often the problem.
