:-) we had a few cold snaps here in Colorado, but, the ice did not exceed my auger length, we were probably only at about 3 feet on Deweese.
Good luck on fishing, might be cold, but it is great when you find them.

Paul,

Your pressure relief valve on the power pack should be set about 200 psi higher than any implement you'll be operating with it.

For example, if you're splitting wood and you come across a tough-to-split log, you'll want maximum pressure to your splitter. You wouldn't want your power pack's relief valve to begin dumping fluid back to the tank when you need the pressure to finish your job.

If you have a hydraulic pressure gauge, you can set the pressure on the power pack's relief valve at 2200 psi. Your splitter will then have all the power it will need.

I admit that my fishing knot skills are very outdated. I grew up fishing with fishing line that doesn't even exist today. These new-fangled fishing lines require new knot-tying skills, which I haven't yet bothered studying.

My neighbor showed me some Spider Wire fishing line. It's really good stuff, but the old, tried and true "improved clinch knot" isn't the best knot to use with it.

He showed me how to tie the Palomar Knot (spelling?) for use with braided fishing line. I'm using it now, as it's the only one I know of that works well with teflon coated braided line, but that's the only new fishing knot I've learned over the past 30 years.

I understand that they make smaller versions to fit the Jeep and possibly some other smaller vehicles.

It's a neat little plow, but I wouldn't attempt to move large snow drifts with it, or even previously moved frozen piles.

After using it on my tractor, I believe in areas of the country where the snow melts away several times during the winter, it would be a fantastic solution to snow removal chores.

Just remember, a froze up PTO clutch offers no slip so make sure they are functional.

The saw should have a pressure/vacuum test for air leaks. I just repaired a MS250 that never ran right (low hours) and the clam shell was leaking everywhere. It ran great when sealed up right.

Joel on the winch the remote control makes sense how that would be advantage over pulling with tractor.

What you need is a Huck Finn or was it Tom Swayer who had the white wash painting contest style contest on cutting firewood. You would pay the team that could cut the most wood in a day say $500 with each team required to pay a $50 entrance fee and also have a BBQ cook off with same set up. Just require say 10 teams each to enter and you will look smart! Why you might could have US teams verse Canadian teams making it an International Contest and get ESPN and Food Channel there to broadcast. Would be better than many tv shows now.

I also have a Shibaura SD2243 and had the same clicking noise followed by silence and then no 4-wheel drive. I was told by a mechanic at West Kentucky Tracker Parts that it sounds like the front end ring gear has broken. Did you ever figure out what the problem was with your tractor?

I know this is old but! They are hard to find but earlier Ford P.U. 46 through 50?? had these. (16 in) I have an old trailer made from one and the same bolt pattern/center hole also fits up to 1996 Ford and some Dodge 1/2 4x4.

I can't say enough about specifications for the proper size of parts and proper installation of them! Clean!! You can not assemble a engine on a dirt floor and expect it to live.
Old tractors are built out of softer steel as they did not know how to make the steel's that they use today. It is far easier for debris to damage a good finish then it is with todays but still it is critical and when fixing issues on rebuilds foreign debris is the number one cause of premature failure.

I know this is an old posting, but I am having the exact same problem with my 2003 Gator 6X4 diesel. I just smoked a new fuel solenoid, after replacing the orginal. I was wondering if you could describe in more detail what you found in the wiring harness and where to fix the problem. Was it the purple wire for starting shorting to 12v somewhere? Did the starter also run when this happened? Or was it near the engine and the white wire that powered the pull in part of the fuel solenoid?

My plan is to move, and move - and keep moving. Spent >20 years in the Navy (mostly overseas), >20 years tied to a sheep ranch in KY, and am now caregiver for a terminal wife. So my traveling has been pretty limited since leaving the Navy in 1992. When the wife finally passes on, I'm selling the place and using some of the proceeds to buy a 55'-60' twin diesel coastal cruiser. I'll live on board, and use navigable rivers and coastal waters to finally "[i]see the USA[/i]".<br>
