Dennis, as others mentioned, this a 'tamper proof' valve, not the standard. It looks like someone's idea for draining it, it's backwards, the drain is normally a male garden hose spigot, not a female.

If you're handy swapping it out is child's play. As mentioned, a ball valve is a better choice.

If you have a small air compressor I can show you how to rig up a nifty little setup to clear all the sediment out of the heater.

thanks, Murf for your input--can't imagine what it would be like to come apart--I'll scrounge for a longer pto shaft. It's 26" and the shaft from the mower is 20". a 30 incher should do it--thanks again and by the way you are the main reason I bought an L3130 GST

Just my thoughts, those tractors have been very good and we have them in our area well over ten thousand hours and have been very reliable.
You do have a problem and I would get it fixed by a local competent dealer. The longer you work with it the way it is the more damage you will do raising the cost of repairs to where you might feel it is prohibitive to fix. You do have a couple of issues going on but they need further tests to see what is going on.
You do have a hydraulic problem but I also believe you have an electrical problem.

I live in Alaska and currently using 10W30.
Now as far as the crap material I found in the oil filter housing was the material from the failed strainer. I have ran the engine and drove the tractor around then drained the oil and no material or metal particles in oil.
The question is why did this tractor have two oil strainers fail with end a year. Could it be the oil viscosity 10W30 due to the cold weather here.
Has any one had the oil strainer fall apart on a 2 cylinder TY290.
That's why I am reluctant to install another one if they are inferior part. I got the new one and it looks flimsy at the least. So what happens when it fails fall apart it gets mashed to bits and some of the crap gets sucked in and causes the oil filter and housing to get pluged up. I have some pic's to post later on.

First off, wi it work? Short answer, yes. Longer answer, how good at welding and fabricating?

There's a bit of a difference between a Jubilee and the much newer little Fords a 770 is designed for.

The Jubilee typically had a trip bucket style loader. They're plentiful and pretty cheap, just look around.

The other thing to bear in mind is that the Jubilee has a pretty light front axle, it wouldn't take much to overload the old girl with a loader.

On a personal note, I agree, you need a loader. It's amazing the jobs you can make easier with a loader. My good lady even uses mine for toting water to keep the gardens down at the road healthy.

I have the same problem w/ dust in my cab and everywhere... (Gator 825i) It only happened after I added the roof and windshield..... Any ideas how to correct the problem.... It's pretty unbearable, especially for the kids....

Gulfvet01 congratulations on choosing the Kubota L3240 tractor!! I do not have any experience with a roto tiller, but I think that Candoarms covered that part nicely. I think that you made a very wise decision. It is sort of like going from a Chevrolet to a Cadillac. The same family, but oh those little things that make such a world of difference!<br>

I have been able to use a two bottom plow, to turn over clay type soils with no difficulty, when the ground was right to plow. With a one bottom plow you will not have any difficulties. In fact I suspect that it will not be long before you start looking for a two bottom plow.<br>

I routinely use a seven shank all purpose plow to loosen up all types of soil, and to break up roots before I pick up the dirt in my front end loader. In medium low range my L3240 has pulled the seven shank all purpose plow through roots very well.<br>

I have never had any problems when using a three point hitch type smoothing harrow behind my L3240. In addition I have also used a sub soiler plow with no problems.<br>

Information that I came across says that(QUOTE) “The HST Plus has a 2 stage drive motor which is switched between high/low settings either manually by the operator or automatically by the computer, depending upon the setup you have selected. In manual mode, if the operator knows the engine will become bogged down, they can use a lever on the left side of the steering column to switch the drive motor from high to low settings – effectively trading off 40% travel speed for a 30 to 60 percent increase in torque.” Torque is defined as a measure of how much a force acting on an object causes that object to rotate” (END QUOTE). I do not know if there is a specific answer, regarding the amount of torque you gain when using the low range setting. I normally operate in medium range, in four wheel drive, most of the time. I do know from experience that whenever I switch from high to low range from within the medium range setting the tractors pulling power does dramatically increase. <br>

The only suggestion that I would make is that if you have not already considered it, please consider having the dealer to add water to the rear tires. My tractor has 430 pounds of water (BALLAST) in each rear tire. This has made a big difference in pulling power, with less rear wheel slippage. It also helps to balance out heavy loads in the front end loader.<br>

When I removed the valve cover to see if the rocker arms were too tight, not allowing the valves to fully retract, I noted the way the rockshaft arm for the decompression lever operated. This arm has three screws running through it with a locknut on one side. These screws protruded a bit out of the side of the rockshaft arm. And that by turning the decompression lever the normal horizontal position of the screws would be rotated 90 degrees to depress the tops of three of the valves, one for each of the three cylinders(I don't know if these are the intake or exhaust valves). With the rockshaft arm in the normal or operating position (screws horizontal)it does not contact the top of the valves. So I am having trouble understanding how that can be affecting the valves. <br>

I've had good luck getting Foton parts from http://www.discounttractorsales.com/contact.php . You can get the tractor and engine manuals from them as well. Before calling, copy down all the info on both the engine data plate and the tractor data plate.

Not to say they don't exist, but I've never personally seen manual steering parts as such. The Chinese tractor dealers typically sell the whole assembly. But assuming you can still read the number on the side - the bearing shouldn't be a problem. The collar might be a bit more difficult though. That said, the first person I'd ask is the counter man at the bearing supply store.

I think you're right, sounds as if the old thermostat was installed incorrectly. I'd expect to pull off the cover and be able to pluck the thermostat right out by hand. But to be sure, check the location of the bypass hose. You want to make sure that the thermostat is in a location that permits cold coolant to flow back to the radiator (through the bypass) until such time the thermostat opens.<br>

Anti-freeze color has become confusing in the last 10 years or so. Green suggests that it's an on-road coolant typically found in older cars and trucks. But that may not be a bad thing. If you've got a dry-sleeved engine, that stuff's ok. But many diesels are wet-sleeved, which requires an SCA-type antifreeze. I err on the side of caution, and use a wet sleeve coolant; specifically, Peak Final Charge Global 50/50. If that's not conveniently available in your area, Peak Fleet Charge is fine as well.<br>

i have a 2003 2425 good tractor but i have a question about the thermostat, i noticed that the thermostat housing had jb weld on it so i decided to order a new one and replace the thermostat while i was at it. the parts manual shows the thermostat under the housing but mine was under the thermostat block? I see a beveled edge on the thermostat block but not sure it i goes between the engine and the thermostat block or the thermostat block and the thermostat housing? makes more sense that it should be under the housing between the thermostat block and not the engine block. can anyone tell me for sure. also best type of antifreeze to use? im sure it has the wrong stuff, looks green.

G'day.
If the oil level is on the high mark ,remove the sideplate ,theo one with the response control lever and refit one of the bolts in the bottom hole.
get good light in there and with the Draft lever in the UP position ,move the Position control lever up and down the control valve ,the one with the roller on it should be in contact with the lever AT ALL TIMES if not make surethe roller is AT THE FRONT of the lever.
Let Me know how you go with this and if no luck I will go further.
