Does anyone know if they make a canopy for the JD 4100. Not much rain in GA this year but the summers are hot!!<br> <br> Thanks<br>

I'm interested in purchasing a sickle bar mower(mowing machine)for my 4100. The attachment is a 3 point hitch with a 7 foot bar. Before I make the purchase, I am wondering if I have enough power to properly run this?

Thanks for the information. I'm using a Yanmar 1300D (gray market, much like the 155D made for sale in America). It has 13hp at the PTO, so I thought a 42" might be a better fit for this machine than a 48".

The JD 990 is not a 4000 series,the 90 series are a tried and proven design,Pretty much a straight forward tractor,standard trans no hydro available.Built much the same as larger tractors I have owned or been around.Check out the JD 90 series tractors the 990 with 40hp or the 790 with 30 hp.They are priced less than 4000 series tractors.Stay Safe BILLG

Nevin, I've never had that happen myself, and have only seen it happen once. If the mower and driveline are new, then the locking pin shouldn't be worn, and I'm assuming the splines on the tractor and mower should be in good shape. I can only guess that either it wasn't really on good, or else the spring in the lockpin is bad (and I sure would have expected the dealer to catch that if it was defective). In other words, I can't help you, but I'd sure be interested in hearing what you learn about that problem.

How do you get John Deere to install the new 4 drive axle. So far I have received no response from John Deere, My 4600 has scuffed off the front tires and broken off the mounting bolts. I need to know who to contact at John Deere to obtain results.

It is true that gasoline horsepower and diesel horsepower are the same BUT you have to consider torque at the said horsepower. HP = Torque * RPM and diesels are operation at a much lower RPM to get the equivalent HP of a gas engine. If you look at the output curves of comparable HP gas and diesel units you will see that the gas units have a smaller power band then the diesel. SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN - It means that a diesel with lower RPMs and a broader power band will tug along and not bog down like a gas unit and thus get you through a lot more.

A company named Original Tractor Cab will have a soft sided cab available this fall. They have cabs for John Deere garden tractors up to the 4400. They should be very reasonably priced. For literature and info, call them at 765-663-2214.

.....Jerri, thanks for the info. Lynchburg equipment(referenced on the forum) referred me to D&F equipment. They have a number junked Hinomotos. My 5020 crosses over to the "E23". A used manifold is now on it's way to me....thanks!..........Bob T. Their # is 225-622-2261.

Just out of curiosity, how deep to you plan on tilling? A lot of those roots are pretty superficial I believe and the tillers can do a lot of damage to them especially on fruit trees. If it works though, I might try it on my trees.

I have a 4100 and also a larger Kubota L4310. I do like the 4100 (and it is made in Japan, not having the problems of the others of the 4000 series). I is maybe a bit underpowered if you really want to do heavy work but the others would be too heavy and too big to cut the grass around my land (narrow areas). I think the John Deere have some nicer features. I still like the two pedals for forward and reverse and something incredibly simple like a stop for the three point hitch that you can override to go lower if you want. In order to do this on the Kubota, you have to unscrew it and move the stop! Of course the Kubota is a great machine and I think has a better mower deck (mine broke once already in two places). My dealer seems to think the Kubota has fewer problems (he sells both). Ergonomics is important as is the dealer. All are good machines.

Every YM336 I've seen around here has been the 4wd model (YM336D) with the factory loader. They were made during the 1980s and Yanmar still supports that model with updated parts stocked in the US. Configured with 4wd, factory loader, good condition, and between 500 to 3000 hours, they bring about 10K to 12K locally. This was the best of the Yanmars - maybe still is. It is similar in size to the JD1050 (which Yanmar built) and with integral power steering and a special transmission(powershift) - but without the turbocharger of the JD1050.

If I were only going to mow my own pasture (no brush) or a hay field, I'd probably put a really sharp edge on the blades (and did on the last rotary cutter I had). Just depends on what kind of work you intend to do with it, and there's certainly nothing wrong with experimenting with different degrees of sharpness, even if you have to buy another set of blades.

I have a 1999 Kabota B7300 w/ loader, also lots of stuff to go with it, Problem is - I had a stroke right after I got my new tractor and now a year later, I've only got 120 hours on it. It does now have power steering and it is hard for me to operate because of my condition. I need to sell it but don't know how or for how much?

I had a ZETOR, 2040. The lit said it had a cat 1 hitch, but the owners man refered to it as a Cat 1N. N for narrow. The pins are the same size as Cat 1 standard, but the hitch itshelf is narrower. 2 things to fix this, move the pins on the impliment to the inside, if possible, or... make you some lower arms to cat 1 specs, wich is what I did after a spell.
