My 4300 was built in mid January. I have had absolutely no problems with pedal pressure. I do recall lots of posts on this board regarding pedal pressure. Maybe they changed something. Steve

I have turfs, 4wd, loader, blower & weigh about 4,000 lbs. There is about 300' of gravel. I can't comment on a comparison with Ag's. However, I expected to get chains this winter, but didn't.

There never was much of a problem with the turfs. The loader will push 2' of snow for 10' or so before the traction breaks. That's enough to clear out areas where I need to maneuver to get the blower going. There is a minor problem with side slippage on the front wheels in tight turns.

Tracy, what kind of problems exactly have you been having? My 4600 had the check valves replaced because they leak by so bad, (diddn't help any) also have trouble with joy stick lever locking when trying to raise boom,when ever you try to lift boom of loader just a little it acts like it's hitting a stop of some kind. Then after playing with it it might move real slow or other times after moving it back and forth it will move normally but that sucks when you're trying to hook to something and only want to feather it a little.

The belly mower will definitly lower the center of graity IF YOU CARRY IT ON THE TRACTOR with the gauge wheels only barely touching the ground. If the mowing height is determined by gauge wheels, the weight of the deck is on them and not the tractor. I would regard the next most important factor as which tractor can have its wheels set the widest. For hills you want the maximum width possible. Tire sizes: The 31x13.5-15 rear is a turf size with the outside diameter of 31" width (at the top bulge) of 13.5 inches and mounted on a 15 inch diameter rim. The front 20.5x8-10 turf is 20.5 inches in diameter, 8 inches wide and on a 10 inch rim. The other tractor has bar tires (ag tires) The rear 9.5-16 is approximately 33.5 inches in diameter, 9.5 inches wide and on a 16 inch rim. The front 6-12 is approximaterly 22 inches in diameter, 6 inches wide and on a 12 inch rim.

I would keep shopping for the Yanmars elsewhere since the dealers parts policy stinks; I wouldn't have much faith that he would be offering me a good deal on any tractor. I see more and more grey market Yanmars on many back roads now so with some effort you should find other sources. Ask around, I bet you find several within 100 miles.

You said in your 1st post that you were looking for something to maintain and landscape your 2 acre lawn. No offense, and it is your money, but don't you think that even the 4200 was overkill for this task? How nice of a lawn do you want, are you going to mow with this? The heavier the machine, the tougher it can be on you lawn. Just throwing another point of view at you. If you have a good dealer near you, don't hesitate to look at New Holland. JimBinMI

I will be buying my first tractor very soon and I'm leaning toward the JD790 4WD because of the size, HP, and price. I have a few questions, any help would be great.Can it handle a 5ft bush hog(med duty)?<br>How much weight will I need to add to the front?<br>Bar tread or industrial tires?<br>How hard would it be and do you recommend changing the exhaust to horizontal?Most of my mowing will be light weeds and small brush until the bahiagrass on my wood lot grows in. I have 30 acres of woods but only will mow about 10 acres in and around trees. When I say mow, I mean to keep the tall stuff down, not like a lawn. I also need to do some light grading of my "two track" road and a Forestry road(soft sand). And I will be putting in 3 or 4 small (1/4 acre each) food plots for deer.Can the 790 handle the task?Thanks in advance,<br>Scott T.

Tom, I don't know much about the 112 but I did own a 318 with a horizontal front electric clutch pto. The belt on the 318 ran from the front pto to a mule drive and then to the deck. The mule drive was located at the front of the tractor in line with the frame. The mule drive had two pulleys that were parallel to the tires. The mule drive was held in place by the tension of the drive belt that was adjustable on the mule drive by turning a threaded knob. The drive belt went from the pto, did a 1/4 turn between the pto and mule drive and another 1/4 turn leaving the pto to the mower deck. I hope this helps and I wish I had a diagram for you but I don't. Have you tried looking at a 112 with the deck already mounted? You may be able to find one at a dealership or in someone's front lawn. I think you are right, you are probably missing a part, namely the mule drive. Good luck.

Looking for some advice, have a Hinomoto E2304 with a Koyker 150 loader which until recently has worked great. Recently while working my drive on the side of a mountain with the nose up I tried to "float" the loader and it began to rise. While lowering it was slower than usual. When I returned to level grade it again funtioned OK. My thought is there must be some obstruction with gravity somehow affecting it. Any ideas, things to check, test?Thanks,Jerri

I have a CC 7194 with a loader on it. I beleive Woods makes the loader for Cub. Does anyone know if the fittings for the hydraulic lines are Standard or Metric? I want to put a pressure gauge on so I can see how many PSI's I'm putting out. It doesn't seem to have the lift capacity it had when new. I don't want to order Standard fittings to find out later that everything is Metric.

After a I read my lengthy post (shades of Mark Chalkley) I had an additional comment: IF I had decided my loader work was relatively light, AND IF my backhoe work would be infrequent, AND THEREFORE I could live with less hp, weight and 3-point backhoe, THEN I would choose the Kubota 2710/2910 hands down.

I haven't put the foot pedal on the tractor yet. The funds are a little low after buying the thing, but I plan to do so in the next month or so. In the meatime, I have been using it quite successfully with the slip scoop, moving dirt and such. I'm kind of getting used to the hand controls.

Thanks guys for the advise. I think I will just spring for a three point hitch mount blower and crank my neck. They are about half the cost of the front mounts. When I win the lottery I'll get the front one.

The 4300 I traded recently had the 60" mid mount mower. I thought the mower did a nice job of cutting but the points you raise regarding the controls are valid. The PTO control lever is too close the three point hitch control. You should plan on losing a little "hide" ocassionally if you buy the tractor. These are some of the creature comforts that Deere seemed to have missed on these tractors. On the 4200-4400 you have to reach to the floor to engage the MFWD. These new tractors are rugged as can be but the Deere engineers should have stole a NewHolland Boomer just to see how nice it can be. Deere needs to address the comfort and control issues or I see myself on the TC40D instead of the 4600 a year from now.
