What I do when I split tractors is pilot bushing/bearing(which ever is applicable), Friction disk pressure plate, throw out bearing and input shaft seal. Basically anything that is there that is a wear part, including flex couplers if applicable.

Earthwrks - Thanks for the reply. The rim is factory and was turned to the inside (narrow width) and is flat. In talking to other tractor owners and you, I believe that the combination of excessive loader work combined with turns, dips, and improper torque on the lug nuts, I may have overstressed the rim. I plan to recheck all the lugs and their torque to ensure proper hold. The dealer has ordered a new rim, so I'll should be back in action later this week. My wife has me digging a 20 x 40 pond and wev've used the 3054 to lift everything from boulders to garde teh front yard. I just need to remember to love on the machine at the end of the day. BamaJax, If it dies like runing out of fuel I'd start with the fuel filter. If that doesn't solve it then possibly a pinched fuel hose from the tank or something that restricts the fuel. Injectors don't all go bad at the same time, normaly a bad injector will cause an engine to miss. Hope it's something simple and inexpensive. Frank.

When I bought mine I got prices on both the BX2230 & the BX23.

The only difference between the 2 tractors is the back hoe.
The one without the back hoe was 10400 the one with the back hoe was 14200
It cost me 3800 more to get the one with the back hoe.

I have a 4115 Hydro. the machine has been flawless until a few weeks ago when I had a pto problem. My PTO's (mid & rear) will not engage. I was mowing grass with a rear brush mower for a few hours and then I notice the rear PTO was NOT turning the mower. Nothing is set in the mower gear box, it still spins freely. It is now at the dealer getting diagnosed. I replaced the electric PTO selnoid (dealer recommendation)and that still didn't seem to fix it. The PTO mechanics seems to be fine. I checked them by changing PTO's and seeing if they were free or binding........?<br>

I have an 84 inch rake on my JD4310 - the bigger (within reason) the better. In addition to covering the tracks, I find the extra weight seems to be perfect for keeping the rake at the right depth. It doesn't dig into existing lawn but grabs and distributes the loose stuff just about right. It does a nice job of integrating the new with the old.

I just went through this myself with a 01 diesel Dodge. This is the second Dodge in a rown that came with Michelins and I don't like them.. They wear prematurely. anyway, I went with Cooper ATR's and love them.. Sidewalls are solid, excellent wear and great in snow..

All you have to do to flush the hoe is to leave the return end off of the line. Then move all of the control levers. That will flush the backhoe completely. As you extend and retract the cylinders there will be quite a bit of fluid that is expelled. You will need a suitable container to catch the oil. There is no reason for the tractor to over heat. It sounds like your dealer just wants to sell you some more expensive stuff. I didn't realize that you were wanting to put it on a Kubota, but that doesn't make any difference. The kit that you would need is called a power beyond kit. It allows the two backhoe hoses to be attached to the tractor.

If it's a new one it may (likely?) be out of adjustmant as Denwood stated.

If it's a few years old it might just need a new set of gaskets. The ones we use don't need to be dug up to change the gaskets, the gaskets sit on the end of the push-rod and run up against a seat at the bottom. When you unscrew the top, you can pull the push-rod including gaskets right out, the gaskets are held in place with a small brass screw in the end of the push-rod. Any hardware store should have them, I believe the ones on ours are the same gaskets as a regular garden hose spigot uses.

The comment about the T-case and low gears just reminded me of an interesting truck on one of the jobs we did years ago.

The guy wanted a truck geared down to nothing, but couldn't find the gears he needed so did what he thought was the next best thing.

He converted it to Hydrostatic drive. He put a swash plate style pump on the back of the motor in place of the TX and a pair of skidsteer drive motors (working in unison) out of a wrecked unit on the input shaft to the T-case.

The result was 100% engine power at an infinite range of speeds.

It certainly was creative if nothing else.

While a flail is undoubtedly more money to buy, I don't know about the power requirement being any higher.

According to Woods, the power required for a 5' medium duty bush hog is 30+hp.

Rhino-Servis say the power requirement for their 5' medium duty flail mower is 25+hp.

So according to the manufacturers the flail actually takes LESS power not more.

Well, after looking for over a year and finally purchasing a TC40DA, it arrived on Saturday. I bought it from a local dealer. The salesman came out to our house to deliver it and spent over 2 hours showing me how to operate it, all the features, and how to generally service it. I was very impressed. I have been using it all weekend to move 60 yards of fill sand I had delivered, and it works with ease. I am very satisfied, and glad I went with the 40 hp model vs. 29/33/or 35 which I also considered. I also got the front grill guard and bolt on cutting edge to make this tractor last forever, I'll never need to buy another one!

The 3 cylinder engine on my Kubota L2802 DT 4wd tractor sounds like the tappets need adjustment. Much rattling at idle. Are these adjustable,? If so what is the gap for hot (or cold Setting ) ?

Fiddled with all the quick disconnects. Pushed every lever back and forth on tractor making sure something wasn't stuck halfway on/off.... and it now magically WORKS! Needless to say I am very happy!!!

I am disappointed in my dealer. I called them almost a week ago to schedule a service call to fix this & they never even tried to call back. I'm so glad the problem is gone.
