If you lock your hydro in cruise control mode, you can use your left foot as a clutch, (to start and stop)as original farm gear tractors were. You can then use your right foot to operate either or both brakes.

Try speedwaysales.com. They sell both models and have free shipping. If you type in the brand and model names on google you will find other sources. The Redmax has a bigger motor and lots more fuel capacity meaning more weight. The Stihl BR600 has more zip than the Echo (712 vs: 620 CFM) and weighs about 4 lbs. less but has less fuel capacity.

Usually a building supply center will have standard plans available at no charge if you purchase the lumber from them. Some of the local stores (not box stores) have designers on hand that will help with variations and then give you are supply list again at "no charge" with product purchase. These designers are also knowledgeable with regard to local building codes so you get the proper foundation, etc. and no hassle from your local building inspector.

I've always been told that bugs hate Cypress mulch and will go elsewhere. When I do mulch, I do cypress around a house and then go with local stuff around other trees and berms, etc. Michigan has a problem with Emerald Ash borers so you can't transport wood from county to county. Usually you can get as much local stuff as you want free if you load it yourself after a good storm. Many of the local tree service guys want to charge for it, since they can sell it to nurserys. They can also haul it to Flint, MI where they have a wood fired power generator that gives them something for it.

When not doing mulch, I generally choose round smooth stones that we call river rock. It is natural, doesn't stain and doesn't catch as many leaves and other vegetation in the fall.

I'm also a 7/10 guy. Unfortunately, I'm not always that good, judging by the misfits I allowed in my one rental unit last year. These people gave Hillbillies a bad name, don't think they were housebroken nor familiar with inside facilities. They also didn't believe in paying utilities like water, phone, gas and electricity.

Thanks for the input. I'm going design and build something for a local contractor that allows one operator to easily dump the clippings from his Walker into a bin that raises and dumps it into a 5 yard dump truck. Going to make it such that it evenly distributes the pile of grass. Will give you an update when it is complete.

Yes, I had the pulverizer made here in our shop. I fashioned it after a landpride but then put the expanded metal roller on it. I need to put a heavier shaft through the roller and more spring tension on the arms if more are built.

Was planning on selling them but my manufacturing cost was to high and marketing was difficult. Most contractors are going to powered units. If you want to try it out, give me a shout, its at our shop about 20-25 miles from you, a little east of I-75 just off M-46. It is just setting outside getting rusty. Usually use it only a couple of times a year and have lent it out to some local contractors.

I'd suggest staying away from the Ford Ranger. It is a Mazda based design that I've heard has lots of issues. I haven't heard much about the 5 cylinder. Have heard rumors that gas mileage isn't the greatest. Also haven't heard much about the Dodge Dakota.<br>

My suggestion is to get a real truck in the half ton category like a 1500 Chevy or F150. Have heard there are some good pricing incentives on the larger trucks that get you almost down to pricing of the little ones.

I'd ask a JD dealership. There are a number of them in the U.P. (Marquette, Houghton, Escanaba if you are on that side). I thought allot of guys put auxillary heaters in. That size engine doesn't put out that much heat. Assume you are allowing the tractor to warm-up for 5-10 minutes before doing any work. It still isn't working that hard to remove snow and get it really warm. Are the side covers nice and tight to capture and draw the heat back?

Another possibility is to go to Lowe's and get a John Deere garden tractor for $3,000.00 that has 25HP and 54" cut mower deck. (Smaller garden tractors and narrower decks are also available or you can get the same deal from your local JD Dealer) Then also get a nice used larger CUT.

I didn't mean to say that the TC40 is the best machine. It is too big for me! I'm trying to point out that the TC33 is a little smaller in lift capacity than it appears.

That is why I stick with my Cub Cadet. It is smaller in HP but is about the size of the 33 and has fat/wide front tires and the downward loader beam almost touches the front tires. It has a slightly higher lift capacity than the 33. I wish it would lift another 200 lbs., at times like when moving larger landscaping boulders. I think all the manufacturers are missing it, because it seems to me that everyone is torn with the same issue. The TC33 is a little small for some tasks and the TC40 is too big. Same goes for all the different makes. My tractor is 10 almost 11 years old and I'm sticking with it!

I had a similar event with my Ford F250. I was driving about 55mph and everything went dead for a second or two. No power steering. No power brakes or anti-locks. Dash lights went out. It was a loose/corroded ground cable.

I had a 1995 S10 blazer with anti-locks that went off all the time. If someone spit on the road and I braked going across it they would have gone on. To make a hard stop you had to stand on them! I did a bad thing by putting slightly larger than factory tires on it. I've had allot of cars/trucks since then and all the anti-locks have worked great. With them, you can stop faster on ice or partial icy roads. They are slower to respond in real hard braking on good roads. Learn to keep a safer distance between you and the next guy!

I edited my last post with more information. Hope this gives you a starting point. Also check if the 35 has the mid PTO or rear hydraulic ports. These options are also worth something.

Forgot in my rewrite about the loader. Tilt the bucket about 30 degrees and lower it down to the ground on flat pavement. If one side hits first, the lift arms could be sprung. Many times it may touch a little more than the other because the ground isn't perfect. Big differences are what you are looking for from one side to another.

I'd go with a good used Red or Green tractor in the 50+ HP range. 2WD would be fine but 4WD is always better. Get some sort of quick-hitch system that would be in the category II size. I would go with either an 84" or 96" wide bush hog with gears and safety clutch. Likewise get a quick-tach system for the loader for dropping off the bucket for a bale spear.

The reason I suggest Red or Green is most farmers use this stuff over any other color. Should have better chance of getting nice used stuff. Parts and service is usually available for 50 years. A red dealer is located in Thomson which is less than 20 miles away on the map. Red is usually cheaper.
